### 4/5 — Great features, needs an update!

*2011-07-11*

I haven't seen an update for this app in months. Needs iOS4 multitasking support and please support the ipad too.

### 4/5 — nice

*2010-01-10, version 0*

not to bad

### 3/5 — Just what the iPhone needs

*2009-09-30, version 0*

Gets you what you want and how you want it. Love it!
All the options are there and fast. You can even change the background to white if you don't like the black (personally I like the look of the black background).
When I first got the iPhone and I wanted to look in contacts, I was stuck (because I come from a treo with the really easy search option) and have been looking for an app that does exactly this.
Great work, well thought out, you got my vote and my buck. (version 2.0)

### 4/5 — Essential app

*2009-07-20*

This is one of my most useful apps. There are lots of people in my contacts whose names I can't recall, but because I've entered comments on them, SearchDial allows me to look them up that way: eg plumber, vet, computer guy, Bob's friend, or whatever else I put in there. IPhone's contact list lacks a useful search feature to do this.
Other apps can do it, but NONE as well as SearchDial.

Developer Idea: PLEASE create a similar "SearchCalendar" app so I can e.g. look for that dentist appt I think is sometime this month!!
(The only way I can do such a search now is to go into Outlook on my desktop.)

### 4/5 — Brilliant! Works perfectly.

*2009-07-19, version 0*

Works fast, works well and a pleasure to use. Has replaced my iPhone contacts finder on the front screen. Would suggest updating so that newly added contacts are synced automatically, but even if not possible, this remains a truly awesome app. Well done!

### 2/5 — Excellent

*2009-06-27, version 0*

This is the best "search dial" program so far. The only suggestion I would like to make is to allow the automatic remoal OD the keyboard when scrolling the search result.

### 3/5 — When's update coming out

*2009-03-22, version 0*

When's the next update coming out for this app

### 4/5 — It works

*2009-03-19, version 0*

Buy it

### 4/5 — Simple and Easy-to-Use

*2009-02-01, version 0*

This is the software that "almost" complements what iPhone address book misses. It does what it said. However, I hope that for the search result the address link to google map can be added in the future.

### 5/5 — great app for the price, couple of quirks, couple of feature suggestions

*2008-12-28*

i migrated a proprietary pc contact application/database to the iphone... approximately 3000 records, most of which have large notes fields.

i experienced two immediate glitches... one of my making, and one attributable to searchdial.

my mistake was importing the 3000 contacts to a new group in my address book, and then choosing only to sync the new group. this deleted my previous group that included all of my favorites... which still worked, but only showed the phone numbers (and NOT the names!).

the searchdial glitch was that my menu bar disappeared from the locked phone when i first installed the app... i.e., the network indicator, lock icon, and battery charge went away until the phone was unlocked. power cycling the phone fixed that issue.

the app works great, as long as you remember to resync/reload the data after any changes. i did not experience any time delays that outweighed the ability to do power searches on all fields.

i did notice that the returned search results would list some records twice, if the search phrase was found twice within those records... it probably wouldn't take that much to show a record once, no matter how many times a search phrase is found in any of its fields. also, when i write web app search engines, i bold or colorize the found phrases, for easier readability/findability.... just a thought!

it's a versatile tool, and can only get better.

thanks,
bruce

### 3/5 — Shows promise!

*2008-12-28*

I downloaded this app and use it occasionally. As a former Treo user I really appreciate the keyboard functionality, my only wish is that this program would run faster at startup. I endure about a 3 to 5 second pause upon launch that annoys the heck out of me. Also sometimes the keyboard is invisible until I start typing.. If the author cab fix these issues on a future release, then this app will be hands-down the best dialer out there!.

### 5/5 — the most valuable app

*2008-12-19, version 0*

I love this app and its very vaulable and sits in my dock.

### 5/5 — Back to five stars again!!!

*2008-12-17, version 0*

I love the ability to search using "contains" ---

Is there anyway for this program to remember calls that were invoked directly or via Bluetooth?

### 5/5 — Great!

*2008-12-14, version 0*

This is a great app good value,
makes the I phone a little better (still not a real phone)

### 4/5 — Like this app

*2008-12-08, version 0*

Works well, on my home screen, good features, stable.

### 5/5 — I Love This App

*2008-12-03*

This contact search is outstanding. Fast to load. Fast to find...even deep searching within notes. And I have 3,000+ contacts.

Looking forward to more complex searches in the future versions.

Great job. Best $1 spent.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It's ok

*2011-05-05, version 2.9.1*

But there is better for your money

My issues with this app are:

When opening the app I don't need to know who made the app and what version the app is at....if this is going to replace A standard dialer why would anyone need to know that info on startup every time ?

£1.19 for less that 500 k of app ??

Check out either callway or phonexl ( phonexl being my favourtite dialer)

### 1/5 — Excellent

*2009-08-21, version 0*

Does what it is supposed to. Just wish it had a dialer keypad as well so that I could get rid of the iphone dialer. Most used app on my phone nonetheless.

### 1/5 — does not work sadly

*2009-06-10, version 0*

does not find my contacts so a useless con at this stage sadly, also very hard to find support. If anyone can find an email address for support please let me know

### 1/5 — A GREAT UTILITY

*2008-12-15, version 0*

It covers all of the quick dialing areas from phone to email to sms. It's not only on my first page but I use it more often than other program purchased. Great great job.

### 1/5 — It takes 5-6 sec to load the keyboard and type a name (ver. 2.0)

*2008-10-23, version 0*

I love the idea behind this app. (using ver 2.0)
I think it is almost perfect, one MAJOR problem.

It takes relatively long time to load (5-6sec) until you can search for a contact.

Please make it faster and I will gladly revise my review and give this app the 5 starts it should have.

### 1/5 — Search Dial

*2008-10-07, version 0*

After installing this app on my iphone 2G with firware 2.1 I could not even open the app! It takes a few seconds to load the home screen then shuts down!! I'm still waiting to hear back from the develper about this problem. Hopefully the next update will be better.

### 1/5 — Sorry, no go

*2008-09-25, version 0*

Finds some contacts only if I search for last name. Finds some contacts only if I search for first name. Finds some contacts if I search either way. Doesn't find some contacts no matter how I search. In the end, it's faster to search in the standard Contacts app, and a lot less frustrating.

### 1/5 — Slow

*2008-09-24, version 0*

App is SLOW. Not sure where the real value is given Apple's Contacts app does 95% of the same thing minus the interface.

### 1/5 — SCAM - DOES NOT WORK

*2008-09-19, version 0*

This app does not work. Author's promise to upgrade is untrue

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2008-09-15, version 0*

Does not work ,do not waste your money

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Backs up address book - PERFECT

*2011-07-01*

1. It backs up contacts for use when native address book crashes - not uncommon if you are using MS Exchange and off wifi.
2. Super speedy search including notes.
3. Wish it could export contacts back to address book or save them as CSV

Thank you.

### 5/5 — Former Blackberry guy

*2011-03-01, version 2.9.1*

Were you a dyed in the wool Blackberry person? Did you, like me, hesitate to get the iphone because it was such a hassle to find the number you want to call? This app makes iphone work just like the Blackberry. You spell the name and all the numbers come up just like the BB did. Tap it and it dials away, or texts or emails if you tell it to.
If you add a contact you need
to refresh the Searchdial to import it.
This is a GREAT app and wprth every nickel.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2010-07-05, version 0*

Please update this app to iOS 4. Thank you also please change your icon

### 5/5 — Best of speed dial apps

*2010-05-12, version 0*

Former bberry addict. Tried face-based and T9-based apps. All felt like MORE work rather than less. This one is much better. After 2 days I am already using it more than native phone and contacts apps.

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2010-03-22, version 0*

Since the upgrade it works and works well!

### 5/5 — T9 default option please

*2010-02-06, version 0*

Great app. Would love to be able to set T9 as default search though

### 5/5 — What is happening with these new Apps

*2009-11-15*

Downloaded it twice and it so far does not work, reboot and still does not work, other apps are working fine, so maybe an update would be nice or something is just not loading right... Looks like a good idea if I can get it to work

### 5/5 — This application is the fix to the iphone's biggest flaw

*2009-07-24*

The built in contact manager and dialer for the iphone is unusable if you have a large phone book. WIth the latest upgrade, search dial makes the iphone usable. I've researched every dialing option available, including voice dialing, one touch apps, etc. This is the only one that truly solves the problem. Apple should consider making this application a standard offering.

### 5/5 — Mr.

*2009-02-25, version 0*

This meets all expectations in stride. Now if I could only combine this into my Groups app I would have the contact manager the iPhone shouldvhave comecwith in the first place.

### 5/5 — Best app ever!

*2009-02-07, version 0*

Not only that this app works flawlessly it also has the most soothing colors. The contacts are synced so you don't have any delays like the crappy "Fast contact". I love this app, specially if you used Blackberry and treo before you will love this app,
