### 2/5 — Cannot cancel a bid.

*2026-07-13, version 4.4.16*

Personally don’t like the system, yet another middleman taking a cut..

If you bid on a train time, make sure it’s the right one..
:(.

Should be able to cancel around 2 hours before, or within 5 minutes or something to cover mistakes.

### 2/5 — No Apple Wallet compatibility

*2026-07-11, version 4.4.16*

Tickets purchased using this app don’t have an option to be added to Apple Wallet, which makes it a poor platform citizen.

### 3/5 — Good app Customer Service will put up a fight if your train is cancelled

*2026-07-02, version 4.4.15*

Seat frog is currently the monopoly on seat upgrades and has done and provided me a decent service when buying tickets when the train has ran.

If the train has been cancelled they will put up a fight when presented with data showing the train has cancelled and you have abandoned the journey.

I had a chain of about 4 reply’s with their customer support with proof the train was cancelled until I quoted my rights they gave up and refunded.

If you look now there FAQ form for refunds is blocked by bitley so looks like they are dragging their feet on refunds.

### 2/5 — Stuck with bad seats

*2026-06-27, version 4.4.14*

As a solo traveller, being assigned an “upgraded” seat at a table of four makes the journey less comfortable than just being in standard class in an airline style seat. Why can’t seating preferences be added, and why are they so strict about not changing seats?

### 2/5 — Lack of flexibility

*2026-06-01, version 4.4.11*

Accidentally booked wrong upgrade due to new UX features. Seat frog wouldn’t let me pay the difference for the upgrade I wanted. The rigidity is off putting and responses from customer services using multiple names in same comms doesn’t give me a great deal of trust!!

### 3/5 — Overpriced

*2026-05-19, version 4.4.10*

I like the app. It works well but when it started you could bit £5 for an upgrade and hope for the best.
Now it’s starts at £26 in some place.
This weekend I’m travelling Newcastle to Edinburgh and the bidding starts at £26 but I can buy an upgrade with LNER direct for £11 and this guarantees me a seat.
What’s the point. Just seems like you are overpaying yourselves

### 1/5 — Waste of space

*2026-05-13, version 4.4.9*

Down loaded app as I was travelling with elderly father who had just fallen. I was in standard class so thought I’d try the app. No auction available for first journey but busy so figured it was full. Said there was nothing for the return and again happy to travel standard. However staff on train approached without prompting and said would like to sit in first class next to my father. Well done cross rail staff great effort and thank you. Lots of space in first class but app doesn’t recognise that. I shall delete forthwith

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-05-09, version 4.4.8*

It’s a con , the prices are more expensive than buy it directly on the train !

### 3/5 — Screen cuts off info, beware £3 platform fee

*2026-04-30, version 4.4.8*

Iphone SE:
Apr 2026 Looking at saved payment cards, it cuts off the expiry date so you can't tell if it's still valid. Can screenshot if you like.

Old review below:
the auction bid screen has the edges cut off. Still just about usable.
Beware the £3 platform fee which only appears once you place a bid. Before then, it says an unspecified “Transaction fee **may** apply”. In fact there’s no “may” about it - it “will” apply.
Otherwise I’ve occasionally had a bargain 1st upgrade but just as often been outbid to close to the ordinary upgrade price.

### 2/5 — Sick of this shizzle.

*2026-04-22, version 4.4.7*

What they say and what they do don’t always match.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — What a dreadful seat

*2026-07-13, version 4.4.16*

I bought a first class ticket from Paddington to Bridgend on the 11:12 service. I am seated at the rear of the train without a window. At least if I had bought a seat from GWR, I could have chosen a true first class service. Seatfrog is such a sneaky, nasty app.

### 1/5 — Very poor customer service - Avoid

*2026-07-10, version 4.4.16*

Very poor customer service – avoid

I would not recommend using Seatfrog. I paid £26 for a Secret Fare for Monday/Wednesday next week. Just two minutes after booking, I realised I had accidentally booked the outbound and return trains the wrong way around.

I contacted Seatfrog immediately to ask if they could simply swap the trains. I completely accept that the mistake was mine, but I was disappointed that they were unwilling to offer any assistance or flexibility, despite me contacting them almost instantly and more than a week before the journey.

As a result, Seatfrog has taken my money but provided me with a service I can’t use. While I understand companies have terms and conditions, good customer service should include some common sense and discretion in situations like this.

Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend Seatfrog if you value responsive and customer-focused support.

### 1/5 — Solo traveller jammed on end of table

*2026-07-09, version 4.4.16*

What’s the point of paying fifty quid for an upgrade when you get stuck on a table and end up with less space than the window seat I’d booked in standard class? Worthless.

### 1/5 — Upgrade JOKE

*2026-07-07, version 4.4.16*

Cost more than booking direct with train operator. Got into a right mess with it. I always travel 1Class. This bid and upgrade is painful and ends up costing same. Regret booking through this app. I'm now stuck with no 1Class tickets and standard that's cost me 40% more.

### 1/5 — RIP off

*2026-07-04, version 4.4.15*

Auction upgrade was actually £9 more expensive than booking directly with Avanti West Coast.

### 1/5 — Refund form doesn’t work

*2026-07-01, version 4.4.15*

Good luck getting a refund if train cancelled absolute shambles the form doesn’t let you input the ticket reference. How handy.

### 1/5 — Rubbish!

*2026-06-21, version 4.4.14*

I find this app super annoying. The train times don’t accurately reflect the actual times of trains so it’s impossible to know if you’re booking the correct train. Example seat frog shows train at 1040 when there isn’t one. It’s either 1036 or 1045. Rubbish!!

### 1/5 — Don’t use.

*2026-06-12, version 4.4.13*

Taken money on an auction for a ticket that I cancelled. Going round a closed loop on support. Evading the issue and no ability to speak to anyone but a bot. Worst is that I have two more bids that they won’t let me cancel, on train tickets that I cancelled. An expensive waste of time. Steer clear.

### 1/5 — Not all it’s cracked up to be.

*2026-06-06, version 4.4.12*

When it works it’s good, but often services are either not available or are withdrawn while you’re booking an upgrade. It’s also worth checking with the train operator as I’ve bought 1st class tickets way below the inflated auction costs. Sometimes some idiot will just push up the auction price to ridiculous levels, making a farce of the app. Good luck!

### 1/5 — Couldn’t place bid at end of auction

*2026-05-15, version 4.4.9*

I waited until the end of an auction to place a bid and was showed an error 3 times and then lost. 10 minutes earlier I had been able to place a bid. Not great

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Innovation in UK rail fare upgrades !!

*2026-07-11, version 4.4.16*

Best thing to happen to UK trains since coal.

You only bid what you want to bid and only pay if you win. It’s pretty simple.

### 5/5 — Upgrade to first class

*2026-07-10, version 4.4.16*

Simple and brilliant

### 5/5 — Best kept secret

*2026-07-07, version 4.4.16*
