### 4/5 — I Wish I could open multiple instances simultaneously

*2022-02-15, version 1.2.2*

Midi triggers would be nice.

### 5/5 — So much fun

*2021-05-05, version 1.2.2*

And a great tool. While i do wish it was AU3, it still leads to new discoveries. And The design is beautiful.

### 5/5 — More sound-wrangling fun than I've had hot dinners! 😎

*2021-04-02, version 1.2.2*

I've been curious about this app for ages. Plus I'm a big fan of the developer's other apps, especially the wonderful must-have AUM and AUDIOSHARE. Tonight I found SECTOR on sale and I snaffled it—and not remotely disappointed! Phwoar! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🦑😃

### 5/5 — Possibly the most fun sample slicer on iOS

*2021-03-04, version 1.2.2*

I love this app ... it is so immediate, and versatile. So easy to find new sounds from your loops.

I have two hopes:
- the ability to use as an FX with live input
- an AUv3 version

That would be a 6 star app.

### 4/5 — Best for breakbeats

*2021-01-28, version 1.2.2*

Create brand new sonic weaponry from your existing loops! Especially good for reprocessing drum loops and getting new patterns and rhythms which would be difficult to achieve via standard midi programming. Just need it updated to AUV3 now!

### 4/5 — Needs one import thing.

*2020-11-26, version 1.2.2*

It would be nice to be able to load longer speeches and songs to this sampler.

### 5/5 — Fantastic Instrument

*2020-03-01, version 1.2*

Well designed, stable, intuitive instrument that is excellent for live performance as well as in the studio for composition and sound design. For over 3 years Sector has had a permanent spot in my live rig.

### 5/5 — Getting sleep after this?

*2019-12-24, version 1.2*

Remember stochastic music and Markova chains from the academy. Can’t stop playing with it,just when I think I am done it comes with a great loop to use. Loops of fun and very useful if you have curiosity and patience.

### 5/5 — Never gets old

*2019-12-15, version 1.2*

Got this three years ago, still loving it. Very intuitive and so much fun. Have created some mad beats with this... makes me sound like I am a much better producer than I actually am! Buy buy buy!

### 5/5 — What an app!!

*2019-11-06, version 1.2*

thumbs up Jonatan

### 4/5 — Great

*2019-10-31, version 1.2*

Very impressive. I’ll give it 5 when it gets the AU treatment.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-10-26, version 1.2*

This sounds great. I added my own samples and this thing sound great.

### 5/5 — slow and steady

*2019-05-24, version 1.1*

everything this developer releases is useful.

i didn't think i needed sector, now i wish that i had purchased it long ago.

fast for resequencing ideas. great for breaking out of sequencing habits/ruts. the randomising features are fun. the app allows full control if the user wishes to ignore the randomising functions. highly controllable and/or random.

sector is a useful tool for any genre/instrument.

though the developer is sometimes slow to update, he always does. if issues are found and reported, he's quick to fix.

### 5/5 — The bomb for generative loops.

*2019-05-07, version 1.1*

This thing is a beast. If you just twiddle around with it you can make some neato loops. However, if you prepare special loops for it. Then take the time to set up the paths and probabilities it is just plain awesome. This has genuine deep utility for making generative music.

### 5/5 — Best exotic frenzy

*2019-02-15, version 1.1*

I’ve just begun to explore this treasure but even the presets offer endless experimentation. Just mapped a bunch of cool functions to MIDI in about two minutes. It’s a deal. Buy it!

### 4/5 — Please update for iPad Pro gestures and AUv3

*2018-12-12, version 1.1*

Love this app but I can’t swipe home from it and there is no home button on my new iPad. Ableton sync and AUv3 would also be sweet!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work As Expected

*2024-12-03, version 1.2.2*

I wanted to use this in AUM but it doesn’t show up as a usable Audio Unit. Also, the sample time is limited to 3 minutes max, which isn’t what I need it for. THIS APP DOES NOT ALLOW REFUDS SO BUYER BEWARE!!!

### 1/5 — Just a toy

*2015-11-29, version 1.1*

This app is very eye pleasing, and fun for about 30-40 minutes. If you are an actual musician I would say buy this when its on sale for 99 cents. You only have a chance of making a beat or song and it will never play twice. Yes I know it says this in the description, but it's kind of misleading calling it a "sequencer" at all. It does what it does well though, but sound quality is pretty awful like others have said, and their "pro quality samples and loops" might have been quality before they put them in, but the sound engine is lacking at best. There is no real way to make it sound any better either. I put real pro quality samples into it and got back flat lifeless ear garbage. I find it useless for my IOS music projects.

### 1/5 — Er...what exactly does it do for my hard earned cash?

*2014-04-07, version 1.0*

Does nothing predictable and is therefore not useful and is not surprising enough to be, well...surprising. Pretty, but all puff and hot air.

### 1/5 — How does it work ?

*2014-03-31, version 1.0*

Literally have no idea , possibly the least intuitive music app ever.

### 1/5 — Confusing and no help docs

*2014-03-20, version 0.9*

For eight bucks a little tutorial would be nice. There's nothing intuitive about this app otherwise.

### 1/5 — great app but should not rely on other apps

*2014-03-17, version 0.9*

I got this app because I wanted to make music. I was enjoying the app until I realized that i had to buy another app called Audioshare just to import some straight loops I made. I don't just want to play with the default samples forever just because I don't want to buy a whole separate app. Sector was already so expensive for an app, why couldn't you integrate importing/exporting into it? Please do and I will change my rating. Thanks.

### 2/5 — AuV3?!?

*2019-09-23, version 1.1*

AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!AuV3!?!

### 2/5 — Abandoned?

*2019-03-27, version 1.1*

No updates in 3 years. Not even to get it up to date with new displays...

### 3/5 — No AUv3

*2020-12-31, version 1.2.2*

This would be a 6 star app if it had AUv3 support but as it stands it’s little more than a very good toy.

### 3/5 — Interesting

*2014-02-26, version 0.9*

Interesting toy, but in my humble opinion not an app I will use a lot for making "music". You can manipulate one loop at a time and unless Sector is used conservatively, what you end up with only resembles music in an abstract or a repetitive way. Still it is an entertaining app but a bit expensive for its practicality. I applaud the Dev for creativity.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Still amazing in 2024

*2024-11-26, version 1.2.2*

Just bought it and this thing screams for jungle and IDM, experimental industrial etc. Really great way to use my field samples and drum kits. The guy who said it has poor audio quality is wrong. It’s crystal clear and really inspiring. Use it with AUM and Inter-App Audio to add your own effects to really go wild. Pair this with Replicant 3 and FAC Smash to see what I mean! Absolutely great.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2023-12-01, version 1.2.2*

Please make available on all Apple Silicon.
Would LOVE to use this on a desktop for laptop.

### 5/5 — Unreal

*2023-10-09, version 1.2.2*

It is hard to describe what this app does, but the sounds you get out of it can be quite unreal. SECTOR-ize your sounds in AudioShare, I promise it will blow your mind. 🤯

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2023-06-26, version 1.2.2*

Please make this available on the App Store on the mac.

### 5/5 — Long time favourite that never ceases to inspire

*2022-12-31, version 1.2.2*

Brilliant all round app. Quality, integrations with importing audio and finely tuned controls to glitch away for hours. Brilliant for creating base loops to then import to Logic to further too. Triggering certain samples allows you to perform additional structures in too. Great app. To the developers, thanks and…please make this available on MacOS too if possible.

### 5/5 — Amazing program

*2022-12-20, version 1.2.2*

I had it for a couple of years, and didn't mess with it much because I didn't read the manual and I found it to be sort of interesting, but not particularly useful for anything musical. Today I read the users guide and I'm figuring it out a bit. It's amazing, and addictive. Not for those afraid of chaotic rhythms.

### 5/5 — Revisiting this several years after buying

*2022-11-25, version 1.2.2*

And it’s even more fun!

With iOS Music MIDI and audio tools making it easier to generate repeating loops, it can be tempting to devote way too much time to arranging clips in order to get music with enough variety that it’s worth zoning out to for a few hours. Sector last you take that catchy motif and twist it into an ever evolving groove.

Still wishing for iPhone and AU versions! I’d love to be able to run multiple instances of this in AUM and let simple loops intertwine for hours on end.

### 5/5 — My god it’s beautiful

*2022-10-27, version 1.2.2*

Sector is a gem, the only thing I can critique is the fact it isn’t AUv3. If I could run an orchestra of ‘Sectors’ that would be a glorious disaster. Thank you for such a timeless tool you son of a synth.

### 5/5 — Another great one!

*2022-09-12, version 1.2.2*

Kymatica always killin’ it!

### 5/5 — Please Update

*2022-06-29, version 1.2.2*

Do not abandon this app, please! It is much too fun!
