## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — cannot connect to frigate over tailscale

*2026-04-13*

getting "DioException" when trying my tailscale IP (which works fine in a browser

edit: the issue may be the app doesn't let you change the port; when i remove it or use 80 the app tries port 50053, 50054, etc

**Developer response:** I tested this by changing the default port, and both local IP and Tailscale worked fine on my side.
5000 works for HTTP, and 8971 works for HTTPS.
If you're connecting over HTTPS — for example on port 8971 — you must turn on both Prefer HTTPS and Ignore Certificate Error (self-signed), otherwise the connection will fail.

### 1/5 — New update broke connection

*2026-03-30*

The new update won’t allow me to connect to my instance, whereas it worked great on the older version. There are no real options to get around this sadly I’ll have to ditch the app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, and we're really sorry to hear you're experiencing connection issues after the update.

This is not the experience we want for our users. The latest version included some changes that may affect certain connection setups, and we are actively working on improving compatibility.

### 2/5 — Cannot connect

*2026-04-09*

Never been able to connect to my frigate server

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Sorry about that — I tested using the IP address and it works fine.
If you are using HTTPS, you need to either disable “Prefer HTTPS”, or enable both “Prefer HTTPS” and “Ignore Certificate Errors.”
Please note that using a domain name is currently not supported.

### 3/5 — Apparently not Frigate

*2026-06-17*

I downloaded this thinking it was the official Frigate NVR app, and didn’t realize it wasn’t until the name changed in May 2026. It works good enough that I assumed it was the real deal but was a bit concerned that I got tricked. I’ll have to be more careful in the future, but glad I found it nonetheless the less.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. The description clearly says this is a third-party app, not the official Frigate app.

### 3/5 — Unable to get FCM notifications working

*2026-05-28*

I have been trying for a while to get FCM notifications working but with no luck. All I get is the error message “Failed to sync FCM token: DioException [bad response]: null
Error: Update FCM token failed: 405”. Perhaps I’m missing something server side? I really like this app so far but notifications are a requirement for me.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. FCM notifications require the Securex Nvr Push Relay setup on your Frigate server.
Please follow the setup guide here:
https://tynvr.147lab.com/#firebase
After setup, restart Frigate and use the test button to verify notifications.

### 4/5 — Timezone seems to be hardcoded to EST

*2025-10-15*

I have my server side set to TZ: Asia/Shanghai however from the trigger recording record, the time is still displaying as US east time zone. Hope it can be a quick and easy fix😀

**Developer response:** Can you please verify whether your Docker container itself is using the Asia/Shanghai timezone?
Even if the host system is already set to China time, the container doesn’t always inherit the host timezone unless it is explicitly configured.
If the output is not showing China time, then the container is still running in a different timezone (often UTC or U.S. Eastern), which would cause the recording timestamps to appear incorrect.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-05-08*

This app is incredible. Works amazingly. Beautiful UI. Super easy to navigate and install. Couldn’t be happier.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your support! Glad you’re enjoying the app 😊

### 5/5 — Best iOS client I’ve tried!

*2026-05-06*

Feels very smooth and complete, designed well

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind review and support! Glad you’re enjoying the app 😊

### 5/5 — Clean app - can’t believe it’s free

*2026-04-29*

This app looks great. Plugged in my info and it just worked. I honestly want to pay for this so I can support the app. I love it.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your support! Glad you’re enjoying the app 😊

### 5/5 — Bare bones, but solid

*2026-04-23*

Not for the faint of heart, but creates a solid NVR experience.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! We’ll keep improving usability while staying powerful 💪

## Most praised reviews (1 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2026-04-19*

I recently switched to frigate and I'm happy to see an app.
Not sure why other reviews show failure to connect. It worked perfectly first try.

I'm hosting mine in docker with dock tail to provide https certs through tailscale.

Great app, thanks for making it.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot! Glad it worked smoothly for you 🙌
