## What is SecuritySpy?

The official iPhone, iPad and Apple TV app for our macOS CCTV software SecuritySpy (securityspy.com). The essential component of a complete video surveillance system for your Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, this app allows you to easily monitor and control your camera system from wherever you are.

This iOS app is completely free for registered SecuritySpy users, and also fully functional during the initial trial period. It offers the following features:

- Live video and audio from your cameras
- Multiplex: cycle through groups of simultaneous live camera views in full screen
- Captures: play back recordings, including motion-detected clips, image files or whole-day movies
- Save/share images and recordings via email, iMessage, iCloud Photo Sharing and more
- Receive push notifications when motion is detected
- PTZ control (Pan, Tilt, Zoom)
- Two-way audio
- Arm or disarm camera recording modes
- Easy setup with auto-discovery of SecuritySpy servers on your network

### 3/5 — Mediocre Performance

This app has pretty basic functionality and kind of works ok. I noticed that playback doesn't work right. It will work the first time, but when you rewind to view again it gets stuck and won't play. The developer isn't giving this app the attentions it deserves. Running ios 26.2.1 on an iphone 17.

i’ve used this software package for ages and ages, even pre dating the app, and this is the first time a change to its operation has in my opinion fallen on its face: the added “by day” filter to viewing recorded videos or captured images per camera is SORELY missing an “all dates” option or the ability to turn OFF the by day filter and simply view whatever that camera’s recent history has recorded. having to sit here and tap twice and wait to see if anything loads day by day one day at a time is frankly ridiculous and makes it unusable. if the date filtering code was too difficult to roll out with an “off” toggle or “all available” option, it shouldn’t have gone live in the app until the filtering was complete. 

I’ll change my one star back to a 5 stars when this rookie software mistake is fixed.

Not too bad if you have a spare Mac lying around. Connection to server from the app fails a lot. Motion detection a bit flaky. Does not like being told to wait for a period before sending more notifications. But that’s all the bad. Recording quality is good and it works with a whole bunch of cameras.

***BENSOFT REVERSED SERVER SERVER LIMIT**+ LONG LIVE THE KING IF NVR*** Bensoft did not add in last update notes that this app will make it impossible to connect to legacy server as far as I know around 5.0 and down at least. Don’t download if you have those servers.

This is a great Camera app if you have RSTP type cameras I use it on Amcrest camera and a Reolink camera… it's a wonderful thing…
Thanks for moving the start Multiplex button to the bottom of the iPhone app

I previously left a review stating that the software was slow to load up feeds. This is no longer an issue. In fact, there have been multiple improvements since that review and I did not recall leaving it. There is one feature missing in this update, however, and that is the ability to see thumbnail images of motion events in notifications on phone and watch. Perhaps it is a server side configuration option because I don’t see anything that stood out in the app. 

In any case, I would highly recommend this app for anyone who has SecuritySpy installed on their Mac. It’s the ultimate companion app making it far easier to monitor your cctv system on the go.

Starting in version 1.8.4, the developer resticted the app to only work with SecuritySpy 5.5.11 or higher. He claims on his forum the app is incompatable with older versions of the server.

This has been proven false. There was no reason for the abitrary restriction. He put the restriction in so people would be forced to pay for the server upgrade as a way of generating Christmas cash.
