So glad for this app! Cant wait to use for eating out and scanning!

### 3/5 — I wanted to love it

*2026-08-01*

I was excited to try seed oil scout. As a Health and Wellness Nurse Coach, I’m always on the lookout for helpful things to recommend to my clients. I tried the app for the free trial and then purchased it so I could use while traveling.
The problem that I have with it is I don’t know that it’s accurate. I dined at a restaurant that had the highest rating “dine fearlessly”. I was suspicious for a few reasons - 1. I’ve never found some of the items on the menu to not have seed oil in them unless handmade and these things weren’t. 2. The texture and appearance of the “butter” on the toast were the same as would be at any normal restaurant. 3. I spoke to the owner and told her how I had found the restaurant on the seed oil scout. She got a little evasive and uncomfortable, she said “I don’t know how we got on there but I’ve been told by others that we are”. So for those reasons I was not reassured that what I was getting was 100% seed oil free. It seems like anyone can add a restaurant to the app without really knowing the truth.
I will continue to use the app but will also continue to dine suspiciously no matter what it claims. Hopefully there will be a more trustworthy method of verification in the future.

### 4/5 — Should be free

*2026-07-12, version 6.5.16*

I truly think there should at least be the option to search for restraints / be able to scan products without needing to pay, otherwise you make the movement look like it’s exclusively a luxury service/financially motivated rather than a serious concern people should be looking into , and/or make it so we can be reporters because only 2 restaurants in my town are in this app and I’m disappointed I’m not able to put in data for any restaurants

### 1/5 — Waste of Money

*2026-06-28, version 6.5.15*

I love the idea of this but in practice, at least for my area in East Tennessee, it’s useless. Not a lot of helpful info in the app, and what is there is generally at least a year out of date.

I forgot to cancel before my free trial ended (as one does). They didn’t send a reminder and there was no way to get in touch with the company to get a refund. I don’t WANT a year long subscription to this app. There’s no contact info anywhere. They clearly aren’t interested in whether customers are happy or not. They’re gonna keep their money and move on.

### 1/5 — Stupidly invasive

*2026-06-28, version 6.5.15*

Prepare to answer 300 questions that provide zero value to see places without seed oils. I got less questions buying my first home qualifying at the bank max

### 1/5 — Sad

*2026-06-27, version 6.5.15*

I’m pretty disappointed by the paywall. It gets to a point where paywalls shouldn’t be necessary and this is one. The fact that I can’t even use basic tools like the map or scanning products made me sick to be honest. I’m disappointed. I don’t normally write reviews but for this one occasion I had to.

### 5/5 — Idk

*2026-06-24, version 6.5.15*

Best way to ascend lol.

### 1/5 — paywall

*2026-06-16, version 6.5.14*

u need to pay to use the app at all

### 1/5 — Unreliable Source

*2026-06-16, version 6.5.14*

I go to the places that are considered seed oil free, I like burritos so I go to places that serve wraps. All of them use tortillas that have seed oils, and SOS verified it saying “no seed oils on premisis” reached out to them a lot and never changed the review. Scam app

### 1/5 — App not working

*2026-06-14, version 6.5.14*

I haven’t used this app as it’s asking me to pay for another membership and response to my email is repetitive when brought up the issue and nothing gets resolved.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scammed into being charged for the annual memberhsip

*2026-07-28, version 6.5.17*

Horrible app. I was forced into a free trial with only the expensive annual option available to even see the app. It explicitly promised to email me before charging, but they never sent an notification and immediately hit my card for the full year. I tried to use the free version, but the app locks you out until you accept the trial trap. Check online - there are long threads of users facing the exact same scam. Do not trust this app.

### 1/5 — None in my city

*2026-07-25, version 6.5.17*

Non

### 1/5 — Not usable on my iPhone 15

*2026-07-23, version 6.5.16*

Unusable for me. App does not seem to work on my iPhone 15, I can’t sign in, I don’t get their verification email, when I try to open it without signing in it gets stuck.

### 1/5 — Greedy

*2026-07-18, version 6.5.16*

Would be great if the app was free. We are already paying enough money to eat healthy food.

### 1/5 — THIS APP WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY IF YOU GET THERE FREE TRIAL!!!!

*2026-07-18, version 6.5.16*

I got a free trial with them and immediately canceled in order to make sure they didn’t charge me anything and still they charged nearly $30 off my account with their shady app, they will make it nearly impossible to cancel and they are nowhere to be found now!!!!

### 1/5 — Might be good, but too eager to cash in a subscription

*2026-07-16*

It seems all apps nowadays think that coercing users into a subscription with a short trial — or worse, paid trial — is a good idea. I could smell the bs by how you onboard with those fake “preparing …” screens.

I prefer my apps honest. If yours need such a terrible onboarding experience, I am not your customer. Usually, this eagerness to score a sale is pushed by poor value delivered if the user has proper time to evaluate the app.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-07-11, version 6.5.16*

If you have a subscription service, be extremely direct and explicit about it and stop wasting peoples time. What an annoying layout to have me download the app, go through bunch of questions, then be told to pay to even try the service out? If I could try it without the unskippable pop up that locks the entire screen telling me to pay for simple information I can find on localfats.com for free, I would give this app a good review. If there was anything offered on the app service wise just based on me downloading it, this wouldn’t be a scam. State it explicitly before the person downloads the app that you have to pay for a restaurant lookup service.

### 1/5 — bad app

*2026-07-08, version 6.5.15*

isn’t really useful when you pay

### 1/5 — I have paid but no access…..

*2026-07-02, version 6.5.15*

I have paid for access to the app but when I open it up and want to use the map it is only giving me option to pay!!! AND I ALREADY PAID BY THE YEAR!!!! something doesn’t seem right. And I can’t find anywhere on the app to contact customer support. (You might want to add that option to contact customer support on the app) So hopefully this gets monitored and I can get some support.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-06-28, version 6.5.15*

Will not allow me to verify an email. No email is sent and so I cannot create an account. I’ve tried on different days with different email addresses.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice app!

*2026-08-13, version 6.5.22*

Just wish there were more restaurants in my area that avoid seed oils

### 5/5 — Clean Eats

*2026-08-12, version 6.5.22*

Very useful app for eating clean.

### 5/5 — Helpful App

*2026-08-05, version 6.5.19*

Thank you for this app. I travel a lot and this app helps me find healthy restaurants. I would like to also see grain free options as I am also allergic to corn and anything derived from corn like corn syrup, maltodextrin, and dextrose. Thanks

### 5/5 — No way to contact for support

*2026-07-29, version 6.5.17*

I do like the app very much. However when I need to contact someone regarding my account there is no option for that. The report a problem does not offer the option I need. I have paid a $34+ subscription for about 3 years I think. Today in my email from SOS I was offered the SOS Pro for $19+ a year. I prefer not to overpay for this app by $15. EVERYONE wants me to subscribe these days. Can you please change my subscription to 19.99 a year? Thank you so much.

### 5/5 — It’s the best

*2026-07-27, version 6.5.17*

I’ve found my favorite restaurants all over the US using this app. I don’t think I would’ve found many of the places that I’ve found that fit all the categories of what I look for in a restaurant

### 5/5 — Superb

*2026-07-26, version 6.5.17*

One the most important apps on the App Store. We use this every time we travel and it is the reason I’ve found my favorite restaurants in my own ever-growing city. Thank you SO much!

### 5/5 — Revolutionary!!!!

*2026-07-23, version 6.5.16*

This app is going to save the world from seed oils. Once restaurants catch on that people are avoiding their establishment because of seed oils, they will go out of their way to market “Seed Oil Free!” This app is truly a game changer!!!

### 5/5 — Authenticity and Supportive Nature

*2026-07-18, version 6.5.16*

It would be even better if every user contribute into it

### 5/5 — Future

*2026-07-03, version 6.5.15*

For years, I’ve been going to restaurants that have been using processed means and over amounts of sugar. I’m done with it. That’s not how we’re supposed to eat and that’s not how the food is supposed to taste. thank you guys for standing up

### 5/5 — This is great!

*2026-06-24, version 6.5.15*

Use it all of the time.
