## What is Seega?

# How to Play Seega — al-Sīja · El-Sīga · seja · السيجة

Seega (also known as al-Sīja, El-Sīga, or seja) is an ancient strategy game for **2 players** from Egypt and Sudan. It is easy to learn, but clever moves can make all the difference.

## 1. Place Your Pieces

The game is played on a **5 × 5 board**. Each player has **12 pieces**.

Take turns placing **2 pieces at a time** anywhere on the board. The **middle square must stay empty**.

Keep taking turns until all the pieces have been placed.

## 2. Start Moving

Now the real battle begins!

Players take turns moving **one piece at a time**. A piece can move **one square up, down, left, or right** — but never diagonally.

## 3. Capture Your Opponent

To capture an opponent's piece, trap it between **two of your pieces** in a straight line:

**Your piece — Opponent — Your piece**

The trapped piece is removed from the board!

You can capture pieces horizontally or vertically.

## 4. Win the Game!

Think ahead, set traps, and protect your own pieces. Capture all of your opponent's pieces to win!

Can you outsmart your opponent and become the Seega champion?
