The only drum synth with which i have enough experience to compare it to is Waldorf Attack (which is great), and SeekBeats totally outshines it. The fidelity of its sound and the fundamental “down to business” attributes of its interface make SeekBeats one of my favorite additive synth apps. So many virtual devices in the eco system offer more and more to simply MAKE THE MUSIC FOR YOU, SeekBeats is all the way at the other end of the dial. I’m sure there’s others that offer similar depth but in regard to the most popular drum synths this is a totally different species (but what constitutes a “drum synth” appears to be an arguable topic). For me the emphasis of this app is on creating sounds more than immediacy of play because of the vast amount of editable parameters which allow you to star literally from scratch. Altho, It has great performance options & presets as well, There’s some good flexible drum synths that are plug-n-play quality, and can be individualized w/ a few quick adjustments and are more widely used because of auv3 convenience. no auv3 here but given the depth of tweaking that is possible, I don’t expect it to be. It sounds so good I can listen to the beats sans music while assembling them in the the great sequencer. Very simple to send beats to other apps. This is an incredible app. ### 5/5 — Underrated *2020-03-08, version 1.4.7* I love the way you can make your own sounds with this; it doesn’t need to be just drums. The randomization options are awesome. Great layout and it isn’t much slower to work with on the iphone. I really wish there were some more in depth midi control options for the sounds; as much as possible, but I understand the envelopes could be tricky since you can choose how many points you want to add for each one. I loved it from the beginning. Then came the updated EFX, which is wild and sounds great and has a fantastic interface and it doesn't end as far as how cool it is. I suggest that you get Seekbeats and start having fun with it. It is really a great drum app. Seekbeats is deep, well designed, full of features and functionality. It is just great. And it works perfectly with AUM, allowing each drum track to have its own lane and effects. This may not have the slick UI that some other products have, but that actually works in its favour. The lack of distraction makes it unthreatening and easy to get to grips with. Once you delve into the feature set, it's incredibly powerful. I’d be weary of purchasing this app as the developer hasn’t updated anything worth mentioning in years. It's not. It's a cool app don't get me wrong, but I'd pay maybe 1-2 dollars for it, not 12. ### 2/5 — It’s just a toy for now *2015-08-01, version 1.2* Randomizer take effects on all pattern, seems you cannot have individual randomizer and drum parameter for different patterns. And it doesn’t have a timeline for parameter automation and it cannot export your patterns to audio file so you have to adjust parameters live and record it live through other apps, even worse, you can’t adjust parameters by midi signal, midi signal only trigger patters or drum. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2013-09-01, version 1.0* It looks amazing but it won't work on my iPhone 4. It says in the description that it is compatible with the 4 but it's super glitchy and crashes after a few seconds. Hopefully this issue is addressed quickly and I can update my review. It looks like it could be one of the best drum sequencers for iOS but if you are using an iPhone 4 I recommend you hold off on purchasing it until this issue is resolved. ### 3/5 — The best *2024-04-20, version 1.4.7* Updated review - Please update and add more functionality as listed below.
