### 4/5 — Fulfills needs

*2017-09-25*

This app replaces a $200 clinometer fairly well. I have had a couple glitches, but all in all I am very satisfied

### 4/5 — Sea-Level

*2016-07-15*

Handy clinometer to have on a phone

### 4/5 — Scotchant.

*2015-10-08*

Voici 20 ans, que je cherchais une application de ce style.
Elle est complète et précise.
Je regrette simplement que le guide en français soit difficilement accessible et que la calibration de la lunette de niveau ne semble pas possible.
À conseiller à tous.

### 3/5 — Great tool

*2015-09-25*

Easy to use tool that allows me to assess working angles in construction.

Would love to be able to rotate the "picture" to horizon level though.

### 5/5 — Solar Slope

*2013-08-25*

So I'm attempting to put in tracking solar arrays on a sloped hill. I need to know the angularitys of the sun from East to West and on the south. I view the east west and southern tree lines to know how many trees I need to take out. This app is awesome.

Also 1.80 eingeben - nicht 1,80

### 4/5 — great apps

*2011-12-23*

i use for sat dish install and work well seems acurate

### 3/5 — Nachbesserungswürdig

*2011-06-25*

Ganz nett gedacht, aber wenn man der Aufforderung nach dem Start folgt und die App kalibriert funktioniert sie nicht mehr.

### 4/5 — Trailbuilding

*2011-04-03*

This tool easily calculates slope for Building sustainable mouton bike trails. Great app!

### 4/5 — Very handy app

*2011-03-12*

This is a very handy app to have, since most people don't usually carry around a clinometer. The most interesting use is to measure an object's distance when you know it's height, or vice versa. One limitation of using this instead is that you'll usually need to zoom in on the object, and it's hard to hold it steady enough to make a precise measurement. With that in mind, this is still quite useful.

### 4/5 — Works well

*2011-03-03, version 2.0*

Good app. Easy to use.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is apparently abandoned

*2022-03-11*

I got SeeLevel a week ago. The inclinometer, for which I bought the app, does not work. The inclination always reads NAN, even after an apparently successful calibration. For you non-computer folks, NAN means not-a-number and indicates that the inclinometer, at least, is seriously broken.

I emailed the app’s author through the link in the Apple App Store explaining the problem but it’s been a week with no reply.

The app has not been updated in 4 years. I have an iPhone 12 running IOS 15.3 so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised the app doesn’t work. My bad for not suspecting this before I bought the app. If you run similar hardware or IOS version buying this app is like throwing your money in the street.

If I get an app update that fixes the problem I’ll revisit this review.

### 1/5 — User guide is useless

*2021-03-23*

Not intuitive and user guide doesn’t help.

### 1/5 — Okay for really short distances (couple of metres)

*2019-01-19*

You can’t zoom in and no cross hairs. Would suggest decimal points for a degree. I found it repeatedly out by about 30cm going to 4 poles around my swimming pool. Useless in this instance.

### 1/5 — Installation

*2016-01-17*

The new version cannot installe on iOS 9.

### 1/5 — Clinometer

*2014-12-17*

Does me no good if it won't open. Yes I have calibrated it

### 1/5 — Guide is useless

*2012-12-11*

The Guide us absolutely useless. I have a great knowledge of trigonometry and find this guide lacking in specifics and details as to proper usage. I have a high school protractor and a tangent table that works better.

### 1/5 — Crashes on iPad

*2010-08-21*

I found the app to crash on the iPad.

### 2/5 — Update not working

*2013-09-09*

It is great that you included vertical calibration for the iPhone.... But I just updated and can't get anything to work at all. Nothing moves with or without the lock. When it works it will be a very useful tool again

### 2/5 — Anas

*2011-06-15*

C'est nul !!!!

### 2/5 — Poor instructions on usage

*2009-12-09*

I need to learn how this tool can measure distance, like the length of a car or height of a room. Can't yet speak to it's precision.

Feel free to email me at my company - tim at toptiersolar dot com

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for backcountry ski

*2022-01-07*

App is fast, interface is simple. Aim and read the angle, just what you want for skiing.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-03-11*

This is a well designed, simple to use app for estimating heights, finding elevation angles and the like. Very good value too.

### 5/5 — Excellent app for height estimating

*2020-01-28*

I got this to be able to measure tree height for a new hobby of finding champion trees. The cost of a good clinometer is a bit much for a hobbyist. I bought a tripod adapter for my iPhone, which is a necessity for accurate results. You can not accurate results trying to hand hold. To verify the accuracy, I measured the ground to soffit height of the roof of my house which was exactly 26’9” using a Leica Distometer laser. This app measured it at 26.7’ which is basically equivalent( less than 1” difference) I used an iPhone 6s with a tripod about 30’ away from the house on sloping ground. It is simple to use, but not intuitive, so read the guide.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2019-11-10*

I use the inclinometer frequently for hiking trail building and design. Easier to use and sufficiently accurate for everything but actual transit required accuracy.

The level functionality is outstanding!

### 5/5 — Excelente aplicativo

*2019-08-21*

Exatamente o que eu procurava!!!

### 5/5 — Muito útil

*2017-09-26*

Excelente app. Usarei pra medir a inclinação das pistas de Ski!

### 5/5 — Good Inclinometer Functions App

*2016-12-18*

This app is just what I was looking for. In addition to measuring the angle of the phone, you can use it to measure the height of a vertical object if you know the distance to the base, or you can measure the distance to an object of a know height. The app does all of the trig automatically. You view the object through the camera, and it displays the level horizon on the screen along with the angle or height above or below level. So you can measure the height of an object where the bottom is below your eye level and the top above, just add the two numbers.

If there is one problem, it is that the gyro chip in my 5s seems to not be as accurate with the phone held vertically as it is laying flat. You can calibrate it in the app, but I can't seem to get mine better than about 1.5 degrees. So if you view a distant object that you know to be at eye level, it may show level horizon to be above it. This doesn't seem to ruin the height or distance measurements because the angle error is the same at the top and bottom of the object. But if you need angle from a true horizon, it might not be accurate enough. Maybe the chip in the 6 and 7 are better.

### 5/5 — Celestial navigation

*2015-11-15*

It can measure a star sight or sun sight using a filter. Index error is large on my iPad but easily measured by pointing at the horizon. use with isextant for celestial nav for £3!!

### 5/5 — see nivellier

*2015-08-24*

super Unterstützung für Mathe - Faule

### 5/5 — a lofty tool

*2014-05-26*

This has proven to be an indispensible aid for eliminating some of the guesswork for calculating load-bearing factors in rigging ropework for fashioning platforms, catwalks, burma bridges, tyrolean traverses and ziplines in the "ewok village" I have been building in BC's old growth forest. Recommended.
