I do not use the tracking features because I don’t want to give the app always on location access - surely this could be limited to only while using the app? But what would make this a useful app is integration into iOS shortcuts and Siri. ### 3/5 — Great lights; “ok” app *2022-02-15, version 1.4.5* I own 2 rear SeeSense lights (Icon 2 & Ace) & the Beam front light. I highly recommend all of them. Reliable, easy to use, good battery life and adjustable brightness. I’ve had to return the rear lights a couple of times as they had water damage after several wet rides and since they were still under warranty - had them replaced both times. The app is ok - only useful to change brightness settings (this setting doesn’t reset unless light software has been updated) and I rarely turn it on unless I need a good reading of remaining battery life. Would love to see the Beam light/speed sensing function abit more reliable- I find this function not sensitive enough therefore more often draining the battery life too quickly. ### 3/5 — Siri Shortcuts or Watch app *2021-11-10, version 1.4.0* I agree with a previous review which rightly says there are too many clicks to simply turn on/off all your lights. When my hands are cold I would like to press a big button on my Apple Watch to toggle all my lights. I have owned Ace and Icon light for a few years and would have thought a watch app would be developed by now. Maybe you don’t have to go that far if you implied Siri Shortcuts. I could talk to my watch to turn on/off the lights which would be ideal! ### 2/5 — Not good. App developer needs to use their own app *2021-10-01, version 1.3.9* For me the app connects to my lights and it works. However it is not good to use. I basically want to open the app and quickly be able to see and control my lights and perhaps see battery level. There are too many clicks required to switch both front and back lights on needlessly. I can’t believe that any developer that uses the lights with the app wouldn’t see this. It’s a shame as it’s generally easier just to use the lights without the app and so from my perspective it’s useless. ### 2/5 — Not fully debugged *2021-02-27, version 1.3.4* Nice idea and good when it works but this app has stopped one of my light working as it will not properly update the firmware and not the light will not work. So I now have an expensive but useless rear light. App crashes also which is rare for approved app. Probably not used an ‘if let’ somewhere ;-) Use with caution. ### 1/5 — Next to useless *2020-06-09, version 1.3* Will not connect to rear light which is now redundant. What`s the point of an app which you have to keep switching on and off or deleting and downloading as advised by see-sense when I purchased it. Some associated accessories e.g. bag clip not up to scratch. ### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work *2020-05-28, version 1.2.2* The app simply does not work reliably with the lights. I get stuck in a firmware update loop, extra lights suddenly appear in my devices and the battery level reporting is inaccurate. This product needs more testing for something that is safety-critical. I can’t even turn the brand-new lights on. ### 1/5 — Nice idea, poor execution *2020-05-11, version 1.2.2* With ace front - rear set. Fully charged get regular notifications that battery is 0%. Can’t set geofence on iPhone SE, promised app update from see sense support didn’t fix. Bluetooth connectivity flaky. App doesn’t persist flash mode so multiple taps needed to switch on. Gave up on app and resorted to using as expensive manual lights. Was asked by seesense for a review on the feefo platform, review was rejected as “irrelevant”. Wished I’d checked the AppStore reviews before purchasing ;) ### 2/5 — Buggy *2020-01-22, version 1.2* Using this new version has thrown up a couple of issues; when adding previous versions of Icon lights the firmware update process fails rendering them unable to use the app. Pairing Icon2’s can be frustrating with them needing multiple attempts to pair. Needs a patch - tout suite! ### 1/5 — Firmware update not working *2020-01-21, version 1.2* The update always fails leaving me unable to use any of the features I paid for ### 1/5 — Using the app destroys what the lights are good for. *2019-12-10, version 1.2* As an avid commuter I wanted the lights and the app for the potential of keeping me safer on my commute to work, both seem like such a good well thought out idea. But there are problems all around on both parts. By trying to use the app which maybe once a week connects to my lights they have some how managed to update the lights so that the ant+ no longer works so can not connect these lights to my Garmin. When see sence were contacted they said they were working on it but 6 months later and 2 updates later still no joy. For the cost of these lights I would expect both to be working properly at the moment they are just normal lights which I could’ve spent a fraction of the cost on. BEWARE DO NOT USE THE APP WITH YOUR LIGHTS ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with ICON+ *2019-11-21, version 1.2* If you’ve still got the old app and have an ICON+ light then keep it and don’t download this one as it wants to update the firmware but keeps crashing so you can’t use it with the old light. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work and now my lights are useless! *2019-11-10, version 1.1.3* I had to download this new app in order to turn on lights again after charging. I get message that firmware update is necessary and when I try to update, I get a message that says update failed because device disconnected unexpectedly. I have tried to repeat the process many, many times without success and have uninstalled and reinstalled the app 2 or 3 times and continue to have same problem. So now I have these expensive lights and this new app has made them useless! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t record rides *2023-10-17, version 1.5.8* I have been using as part of a community project to record rides but it only seems to record about a quarter of them. I cycle almost every day to work but this week it has only recorded 0.1mile! Also, unless you have it on eco mode the battery runs out in the middle of a 3 mile ride. ### 1/5 — Does not work with icon plus *2023-03-07, version 1.5.7* New app version does not let me use the older icon plus lights. Can’t turn on remotely or even manually if I connect to them. Emails to company unanswered. Older app, worked great ### 1/5 — See sense *2022-11-09, version 1.4.8* I have to agree with the other review, this is doing the same thing! Junk ### 1/5 — The update bricks it - real junk! *2022-09-10, version 1.4.8* Opens up the product, downloaded the app. The app said it needs a firmware update. The app would not let me go past needing an update, so I tapped update. That froze on 0%, and the light does not function at all, except to attach to Bluetooth and have the little green lights come on indicating it's ready. I've uninstalled the app as suggested in the faq's and removed the light from the app as many times. It's a waste! This is like I bought a $10 product from china and expected it to work, EXCEPT it was $100 product. ### 1/5 — iPhone 6 No Longer Supported *2022-01-19, version 1.4.4* Updated the app with iPhone 6 iOS 12.5.5 and it will no longer launch. Assume this is either a bug or IOS 12.5.5 no longer supported? ### 1/5 — Do Not Update App *2021-10-18, version 1.3.9* The latest update breaks most of the functionality on the app unless you share location all the time. I liked having the flexibility to change when I shared insights. Changing the app to only work when always sharing location is not privacy-conscious and a step back for the user. I am disappointed by this update-please roll back the requirement or you're losing me as a user. ### 1/5 — Waste of money! *2021-10-05, version 1.3.9* Icon front light waste of money due to being let down by this app nothing on this app works for the light completely utter crap! Don’t even deserve 1 star!! ### 1/5 — Nothing unique blue tooth connectivity issues *2021-09-12, version 1.3.9* • Bluetooth drops in and out, phone looses connectivty with light • drains battery of phone • nothing unique about this app - there are other products out there that offer the same or similar • app cannot connect to cycle computer - phone only application As far as I am concerned there is nothing unique about this app or even the light. There is no incentive to use. Its very limiting in what stats it collects of an individual ride - there is no heart rate, cadence or if you are a serious rider - power meters. Also the safety features - my cycle computer has these same features - so why would I ditch that for this to use on my phone. If you have a product that is to promote safety then have something unique not same same. The blue tooth drops in and out - yes that could be my issue more than this but still if thats happening then why should I use this. All in all in theory this app is great but from practical sense there is nothing I can use. ### 1/5 — Every time I see “firmware update”... *2021-03-13, version 1.3.4* ... I know my lights are about to be bricked and I’ll spend far too long trying to get them to successfully update. ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2020-06-25, version 1.3* Previous version worked great. This one doesn’t always connect, doesn’t recognise lights, sometimes doesn’t switch lights on, sometimes won’t switch lights off. Sent diagnostics and received no advice back. Overall a massive step backwards. I’m losing confidence in See sense which is a shame. Please! ### 5/5 — Easy to use. *2022-02-18, version 1.4.5* Easy to use App, syncs seamlessly with my ‘ace’ rear light. The thing I would add is when my light is on but the app is closed I think it should still track my position as I have set it up for ‘location always’. Apart from having to leave the app open to track my ride it is great. Being able to switch your light on and off without pressing the button hopefully keeps things more waterproof. ### 5/5 — Very Good bright bike light *2022-02-15, version 1.4.5* Beam + Very bright and powerful bike light. Other road users can see me from a distance. Just point it to the ground slightly so as not to blind other road users. Takes a while to fully charge it to 100 %. But holds it charge if using adaptive flash mode for upto 30 hours. Comes with a head mount for your helmet and a bar mount. Very easy and useful to switch between them everyday or have several bikes. Use the lights in the forest on our night rides. Lights quite a bit in front and on the sides. Very good build quality. But it lacks a few function in terms of light control. Having to fish my phone out of my pocket, unlock and open the app to individually turn on front and rear lights is actually slower than just turning on the lights manually. It would be a great improvement to allow to bundle lights within the app and operate them together. Even better would be to add an Apple Watch app. Killer would be to voice activate the lights. “Siri, turn on/off my bike lights” and that’s it. Allow users to create their own scripts using the iOS automator. Operate individual or groups of lights, set tracking, theft alarm etc via Siri commands would make this app an absolute gem. ### 4/5 — Solid light but so-so app *2019-11-04, version 1.1.3* I found the light to work very well; its bright, solid construction, and uses CREE LEDs. The mounting clip and attachment to the bike being sound. The app still requires some development. The app crashes when I attempt create a safe zone for the Theft Alarm (iOS 13.1.2; iPhone Max XS). There are no dialogue boxes regarding disconnecting from charging when performing a firmware update. Am I am not sure why the app requires 24/7 location tracking to use the theft and crash features, rather than allowing to open, run in the background, and location track only while the app is open (like Cyclemeter). Looking forward to the next app update. Updated to 4 stars. The app update did the trick, but still not sure about the 24x7 location tracking. ### 4/5 — So many glitches but finally getting there *2018-10-08, version 1.0.2* These lights had a firmware update and after then re charging to reset they appear to finally be working correctly.
