Doesn’t work the way you think it’s going to **Developer response:** Hello there. It is clearly stated that the free Seismometer app is intended to be used as an instrument of visualizing movement and has live alerts according to 4 types of major earthquake movement scales. I can’t really say what did you expect, expectations can be misleading some times. Last night we got a intensity 4 or a shido 3 It was super terrifying. I thought they were warn or something. all it does is it tests for some reason **Developer response:** Hello, I am really sorry to hear that you were terrified from the earthquake. Was the app monitoring for earthquakes? Did you press the play button after you have set up the intensity and the scale? There is a specific procedure that is outlined in the app’s help and in the app’s website. Please make sure you have done all that and please remember that you can always contact support within the app. Thank you ### 1/5 — Richter? *2022-07-29* Missing the Richter’s scale! **Developer response:** Hello Iulianooo! In case you have not read the FAQ section in Seismometer's website or help within settings, Richter's scale represents magnitude and not intensity movement. To quote the FAQ specific part:  "Where is Richter Scale? Answer: Richter scale represents earthquake's magnitude and it can not be measured by using accelerometer and gyroscope. Needs very specific equipment and expensive one. Also magnitude represents the power of an earthquake and it is crucial for scientific purposes only. Intensity movement scales are human oriented and easier to understand and use." As you can understand there is an approximate correlation between magnitude and movement, thus it can not be represented in an app. It will conclude in arbitrary results. Seismometer is free in order to help as many people as possible. ### 1/5 — How to control this I don’t know *2022-07-18* Trying to set this up so I just get the strong earthquakes and all I get is sirens and lights and it can go off with the light ones how do I stop the light ones and get the real bad ones it’s not easy haven’t figured it out yet **Developer response:** Hello there, if there is anything you can not understand or it confuses you, support is here. There is also the website where there is detailed info about everything around Seismometer app. This app is also free as a contribution for the safety of our society. ### 1/5 — Does not do a thing *2017-09-29* It says I do NOT have internet when everything else on my pad, that is on internet WORKS. Plus they never answer emails. Do Not buy or get until fixed. **Developer response:** Dear Ldwarrior1, Seismometer is not using any internet connection other than to read help. Please test it again. And please send an email again as there is none received by your name "Ldwarrior1". Thank you. ### 2/5 — 5.5 Huriquake *2023-08-20* We just had a 5.5 & this app did nothing. I thought it was suppose to warn me. **Developer response:** Did the app was app and running? There is a specific procedure in order to be notified by the app in the event of an earthquake. Have you read the instructions? Please reply through the app in support section. ### 3/5 — Meh. *2026-04-20* When my device is s completely still, the shindo scale says 3. And on the Mercalli scale, it says IV. So please work on the sensitivity of the detections. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. Seismometer uses highly sensitive phone motion sensors calibrated with science-based and official reference values, so even very small vibrations can register when a device appears still. For the most accurate results, the phone should be placed flat on the floor (be aware that even wooden floors can transmit vibrations) and left completely untouched, ideally while charging. We’re continuing to refine sensitivity handling to make readings more intuitive in everyday use. ### 3/5 — Good but drains battery fast *2025-06-24* Good app, but drains battery fast. It would be nice if this can run as background app so that other work is not interrupted ### 3/5 — Pls add Richter scale. *2025-04-23* I think this app is mid, because there is no Richter scale, which makes it harder to use than other apps, and I put my gadget on the bed and it kept showing me there was an earthquake every time. On the ground, it showed me the same results. It was not shaking at all. Seems there is slight movement of the surface you have it on. Try the floor.
