## What is Sell in May?

Professional Market Intelligence. Completely Private.

Sell in May brings institutional-grade market analysis to your iPhone—with zero cloud dependency. Combining advanced pattern recognition with optional LSTM deep learning, it reveals what history suggests about any stock's future under similar market conditions.

Regime-Aware Analysis
Unlike basic charting apps, Sell in May understands that markets behave differently during bull runs versus bear markets. It automatically classifies current conditions (volatility, trend, sentiment) and surfaces only relevant historical patterns—giving you context-aware intelligence, not just raw data.

Dual-Engine Approach
• Pattern matching across 10+ years of similar market regimes
• Optional AI forecasting with probabilistic multi-day predictions
• Two complementary methods reduce bias and increase confidence

100% On-Device Processing
Your data never leaves your phone. No account, no cloud backend, no tracking. Just professional-grade tools with complete data sovereignty. Works offline after initial data fetch.

Professional Features
• Multi-horizon forecasting with confidence intervals
• 14+ technical indicators and risk metrics
• Optional macro-economic context (FRED integration)
• Real-time regime detection and scenario analysis

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-30

This is a maintenance update focused on handling newly-listed symbols gracefully, making the price chart more honest about how much history it's showing, and a round of reliability and consistency improvements under the hood.

What's New:
- Newly-Listed Symbols: Analyzing a recently-listed company no longer ends in an error. When there isn't enough price history for the pattern match and forecast yet, the app now shows a calm "not enough history yet" explanation and still surfaces what it can — the current price, the economic context, and a Fundamentals link at the top of the screen — instead of failing outright.
- Honest Price Charts: A symbol with only a short history now draws its line across just the span it actually covers, rather than being stretched edge to edge, with a subtle "limited history" hint. The Risk & Performance card likewise flags when its annualized figures rest on only a few weeks of data, so short histories aren't read as full-period results.

Improved:
- More Reliable Data: Retrying of flaky network requests is now based on the actual server response rather than guesswork, so transient failures recover more cleanly and permanent ones stop retrying sooner.
- Faster & Steadier: Saving to the on-device analysis store is quicker, the volatility (VIX) explanation now reflects your own configured thresholds and formats percentages correctly in every language, and there are assorted stability and consistency fixes throughout.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-06-10

What's New:
- Watchlist Tab: A new third tab keeps all your tracked symbols in one place. Add symbols with an inline search, drag to reorder, and swipe to delete. Each row shows the company name, latest price, one-day change, and a one-month sparkline. The symbol you're analyzing and your watchlist now stay in sync — no more separate lists to manage.
- Redesigned Interface: The Analysis screen opens with a new price hero — symbol, large price, one-day change, sparkline, and a range picker for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years. The Regime, Technical, Risk, and Macro cards have a cleaner look and tap through to full explanation screens that describe what each metric means, how it's calculated, and what it implies. The AI Analysis now appears as a preview card you tap to read in full or to continue in chat.
- Morning Brief & Alerts: Opt in to a daily 7:00 AM brief covering the current volatility regime, the VIX, and your active symbol's latest forecast. Regime-change and pattern-found alerts are also available, each with quick actions to open the analysis or mute a symbol for a week. A first-launch prompt explains the options; everything stays off until you allow it.
- Restructured Settings: Preferences are reorganized, with power-user controls moved into a dedicated Analysis Settings screen, a Reset to Defaults option, and a light / dark / automatic theme toggle.
- Now on Mac: The Watchlist is available on macOS too, in the sidebar.

Improved:
- Faster & Smoother: Launches and symbol switches are noticeably quicker — price and economic data are now served from a local cache first, and redundant network requests have been eliminated. Your analysis, forecast, and AI explanation now persist as you move between tabs instead of regenerating each time.
- Stability Fixes: Resolved cases where the "Analyzing" and "Generating forecast" spinners could hang indefinitely after launch, a forecast that restarted in a loop, and a crash that could occur when quitting the app.
- More Reliable Data: Improved fetching of prices and economic indicators, including better handling of rate limits and authentication so charts and the macro context fill in more consistently.
- Model Download Resume: If your selected AI model didn't finish downloading, the app now resumes it automatically on the next launch.
- Spanish Polish: Completed Spanish translations for the new Watchlist and accessibility labels and refined number/percent formatting.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-05-21

- Spanish (es) Localization: The full app interface — analysis screens, settings, accessibility labels, error messages, and the AI analysis itself — is now available in Spanish. The marketing website is translated as well.
- New AI Analysis Model: The on-device AI model is now Qwen 3.5, available in two sizes — 0.8B (~533 MB, recommended) or 4B (~2.7 GB, more capable). Both produce output natively in your device's language and are significantly smaller than the models they replace.
- In-App AI Chat: Tap the AI analysis card to open a multi-turn conversation about the symbol you're viewing. Ask follow-up questions in plain language — the chat is ephemeral and resets when you change the symbol.
- Automatic Storage Cleanup: When upgrading, older AI models from previous versions are automatically removed from your device, freeing up several gigabytes.
- General Fixes: Resolved several stability and display issues; tightened error messages.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-05-02

- Fundamentals Analysis: View key company statistics (market cap, P/E ratio, EPS, dividends) with an interactive DCF calculator to estimate intrinsic value.
- Peer Correlation: See how your stock correlates with peers like SPY, QQQ, and IWM on a visual heatmap. Most- and least-correlated peers are highlighted.
- Risk Metrics: Track annualised return, volatility, Sharpe ratio, Sortino ratio, max drawdown, and Value-at-Risk (VaR) versus a customizable benchmark.
- Technical Indicators: Monitor RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, ATR, and On-Balance Volume directly in the app.
- Economic Context: Now works even without FRED data — automatically falls back to World Bank and IMF sources for CPI and unemployment when available.
- Settings Refresh: Configure peer symbols, risk benchmark, lookback periods, and fallback data sources all in one place.
- General Fixes: Resolved several minor issues and improved overall application stability.
