For books that had been read once and were in pristine condition it gave me 10p which was shocking. Not a great set up and it only scans particular books. I deleted it immediately ### 1/5 — Don’t take anything? *2024-04-16, version 1.20.8* Scanned 600 dvds. Didn’t accept any… don’t waste your time with this ### 1/5 — Poor *2023-12-21, version 1.20.6* The scanner doesn’t work on any book I tried it on - and I attempted to scan quite a few. When i eventually managed to manually input the number (which, again, took several attempts), it gave me a price of 12p for my Like New copy of Barnardine Evaristo Girl, Woman, Other. Significant issues with this service. ### 2/5 — The price paid for my books *2023-12-16, version 1.20.6* The prices paid for my books were absolutely appalling-most of them were in quite good condition, read once or twice, and the most I was offered for one of them was £0.22! ### 1/5 — Useless, won’t accept anything, deleted! *2023-11-25, version 1.20.6* I scanned 20 different DVDs and it wouldn’t accept any. “No offer” message constantly. I tried the same 20 DVDs with other similar apps and all were accepted for 40p+ on some, so deleted this app and onto others. ### 3/5 — Operationally a mess, don’t trust *2023-11-17, version 1.20.6* It took 3.5 weeks for SellItBack to mark my package as having arrived — major delays in their warehouse? I wasn’t kept informed, and thought I wouldn’t get paid at all. And their password reset email was sent showing my password in plain text! Terrible, terrible security practices. It seems a young & overwhelmed company, which might go out of business soon? Not trustworthy — try WeBuyBooks instead. ### 1/5 — Peanuts *2023-11-14, version 1.20.6* That’s how much they offer you and there are very few things they’re actually willing to take. There are better apps out there who pay much more and accept more. ### 1/5 — This app doesn’t work *2023-07-14, version 1.20.6* This app doesn’t work I send all of my books to them and than they take all of my books and and then didn’t pay me the money just take all my book so please don’t use this app such a horrible app 👎 ### 1/5 — Profiteers *2023-06-15, version 1.20.6* Hours of painstakingly scanning in books, carefully packaging them into boxes and sending them via courier for absolute pittance. I was told the value of all the books I was sending was potentially £31 and whilst I didn’t expect to receive all that money once qualify checks were completed, I was horrified to find I’d been paid around 84p Don’t waste your time with this app, use musicmagpie or Ziffit who will pay you something close to what you’re promised. My experience of this company was tantamount to robbery. ### 1/5 — Never use this app *2023-05-04, version 1.20.6* So I scanned about 38 books and got a value of £23.72 I was like ok and but the books in a box and sent it over to them. They then processed the books and deducted about £3 which I found weird but I just looked past it. Today I received payment of £8.92 so I called them and they said that they couldn’t process some books and some were damaged so in total they deducted about £14.80 from my order so I advise you not to use this app as there may be some complications. ### 2/5 — You don’t get the price offered *2023-04-28, version 1.20.6* I got given a quarter of the offered price. I sent a shipment of 15 books and apparently there were problems with 11 of them, yet 6 of them were brand new books so God knows what’s wrong with those. When I’ve sent books to other apps, they only reject 1 maybe 2 max. Much better to use them instead. They also don’t even tell what was ‘wrong’ with them like the other apps do too. ### 1/5 — Avoid at all costs *2023-02-28, version 1.20.6* The company delays payments for no reason. I have been waiting for payment for more than 1 month. Several other companies that provide the same service offer better prices and process payments with 1 or 2 days. Avoid sell it back at all costs. ### 1/5 — Awful prices *2023-01-31, version 1.20.6* If you want to give your books away, do it at a charity shop or local tip. No offer for anything or continually scanning- lost the will to live trying to use it! ### 1/5 — Does not beat Ziffit 😳😳 *2022-09-30, version 1.20.4* Just an example of an offer I got was 80p for a book Ziffit offered £6.12 and that was not the only book every book offer was way lower than Ziffit and we buy any books even music magpie which offers pennies for books but if I don’t get an offer on Ziffit or we buy any books I sell to music magpie as they seem to take tittles the other two I mentioned refused I would not recommend this buy back company at all I’ll stick to the ones I already use thanks ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad service and full of bugs *2025-12-01, version 1.25.0* I’ve been selling loads of books atm and this is the worst app for it. First the app is full of bugs, not letting me delete books from my list or constantly crashing and taking ages to scan even tho I used other book scanning apps at the same time and were much faster. Then to top it off I’ve had the books waiting for collection for nearly a month now, have rearranged multiple dates for collection but evri never come. (If anyone knows evri are rebound for being terrible) you better off using World of Books or We Buy Books. ### 1/5 — Payment Issue *2025-11-30, version 1.25.0* Application doesn’t allowed you to check out with bank payment same at the site also. Only 4 out of 50 books had a resale price of between £0.10 to £0.59, The rest showed no price at all. Pretty useless app. ### 1/5 — Lowball offers and lots of “no offer” *2025-09-21, version 1.25.0* Waste of time! of the 10 books I scanned only 4 get an offer. Real lowball 50p or 75p the others got no offer despite 1 being so new it’s not even out in paperback yet. Not worth the effort involved for such a small reward. Don’t waste your time. ### 1/5 — Cannot register *2025-02-03, version 1.22.0* I am getting to the password in the registration process and it is not accepting anything. It was difficult to enter my address too, only worked with find my address not manual entry of address. It is very infuriating. Please can you advise as to how I can register going forward. If it gives you an offer it then seemed to add it multiple times to the basket and then fail to respond to the delete request. I will have to delete this app. ### 1/5 — No use at all *2025-01-20, version 1.22.0* Could not register as it would not accept my address, when I filled out address line 1, it seemed OK but entering address line 2 it deleted line 1. This sometimes happens on other apps and is duet to there being no house number, just a name. Just entering the name on address line 1 usually gets around the problem but not in this case. I then tried scanning around 20 books it accepted 4 of them. When I looked at the basket it had put in three of the books twice and the other one three times. It then generated an error when I tried to delete any of the entries. Total waste of time ### 1/5 — Version 1.22.0 needs improvement *2024-11-29, version 1.22.0* The scanner is so sensitive that it’s easy to add multiple instances of the same item to the basket. The delete item just doesn’t work and returns an error. The only way is to delete the whole basket and start again. Clearly not tested sufficiently before release ### 1/5 — Mr Sam *2024-11-06, version 1.21.0* I downloaded this up and scanned about 20 barcodes and manually entered but not one worked. Waste of time ### 1/5 — Downhill *2024-06-10, version 1.20.8* Used these guys in the past and the service was great the first time. The second time, they had issues locating my parcel and I had to chase them up for payment for a week or so… most recently (June 24), I scanned my order and “completed” it. No confirmation email, no response from customer services and all of the postage label and contact us links yield “not secure” or “not found” results. So far so good ### 5/5 — A real find *2021-09-11, version 1.18.0* I’ve been trying to get rid of several hundred books and since lockdown am finding charity shops don’t want donations as they’ve been inundated. It seems that everyone has had a clear out at the same time. I have started selling them to Sellitback and can’t recommend this app highly enough. Yes, it’s surprising and disappointing when an expensive book is rejected but the company make it very clear that they operate according to demand. Bestsellers and genre fiction is often rejected or a very low offer made. On the other hand, textbooks and self-help books have often netted me £2 or £3.
