## What is Semmel BU Calculator?

Semmel makes bread units (BU) intuitive.

If you have just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, converting carbohydrates into BU can feel abstract at first. Semmel helps: enter the carbohydrates in grams (or, alternatively, calories), and the app instantly shows the result in BU – and how many rolls this visually corresponds to.

This way you develop a feel for BU instead of just working with abstract numbers.

Features:
- Convert carbohydrates (g) directly into BU
- Convert calories into BU as an approximation (via kJ → carbs → BU)
- BU visualized as a number of rolls
- Clean, calm interface without distraction
- Runs fully offline – no sign-up, no data collection, no ads

Who is Semmel for?
Semmel is a learning and orientation tool – especially for people newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, but also for relatives, caregivers, and anyone who wants to understand BU better.

Important note:
Semmel does not replace medical advice. Decisions on insulin dosing should always be made together with your diabetes care team.

Privacy:
Semmel does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All calculations run locally on your iPhone.
