It’s not a great experience. **Developer response:** Hello, Sorry for the inconvenience, but that thought process doesn't apply to many Bluetooth devices. You cannot connect two devices to one app when each device needs to be paired to its individual phone with the app. If you need further support, please reach out to our team here: https://www.sena.com/en-us/support/ticket/ ### 2/5 — App Setup Experience Needs Improvement *2024-06-10* Two stars for this with my R2 EVO for one reason: out of the box, the helmet app would not set up the helmet. How I resolved this? My helmet shipped with firmware 2.0.2 and it would just "spin" in the app when setting up, despite it being connected. I updated the helmet firmware to 2.0.7 using a computer and retried - that did not resolve it. I unpaired the helmet from my phone and re-paired it. The helmet version then showed up as 2.0.7 in the Bluetooth name. That didn't resolve it. I deleted and reinstalled this application after doing (in this order): 1. Update the helmet firmware on a computer. 2. Install this app. 3. Run setup in this app. After that point, the app found my helmet and was able to successfully pair. It seems that the current version of this app has problems connecting to helmets with older firmware. If this happens to you - try these steps. The application is working fine for me now. ### 1/5 — App does not look like this at on my iPhone 13 Pro *2024-04-04, version 2.5* The app downloads to my phone but only has two tabs, an intercom tab that has 3 spots to pair with another helmet, and options to pair by QR code or a previously paired helmet (“Pairing List”). Wish I could give it negative stars. My wife and I have the exact same versions of the app but hers looks and functions different than mine and we can’t connect our helmets on intercom which was the whole point of buying them. I might smash it with a hammer to let out my frustration and buy a new brand. And tech support is non existent. Trash app and trash company. Wish I would have read reviews before I listened to the person at the bike shop and bought 2 helmets! ### 1/5 — Beware! *2022-11-20* The helmet mesh system in the M1 Evo is a good idea…..BUT, the app calls for a firmware update through the Device Manager but it doesn’t work, will not recognize the helmet at all, they need to fix it so you can update via the App, leave the computer out of it. The response from Tech Support has been awful and super slow at best. Many months and still no resolution to this issue. If you want to talk to others buy a radio for your belt instead! ### 1/5 — Don’t Recognize Device *2022-11-20, version 2.2* Can’t update the Sena Utility so developers create this other app which is even worse. ### 1/5 — Still way too many issues. *2022-10-09* I have owned two Sena bike helmets. I love the idea of being able to talk with fellow riders, being able to safely listen to music or occasionally answer a phone while commuting. Being able to communicate with other riders is a huge safety feature. However the helmet and it’s firmware is still way too glitchy. The helmets do not connect to one another with the ease one would expect. Further - the app is not reliable and technical support from their website is terrible. When it all works it’s a great way to make cycling safer and even more enjoyable. But it’s still too glitchy particularly for a second generation product. ### 1/5 — Sena bicycle helmet *2022-09-25, version 2.1* Blue tooth is almost impossible to utilize with your poorly designed App. Very disappointed in an otherwise good helmet! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Won’t pair *2026-06-02* Device pairs with my iPhone. But, despite many attempts and interventions, it refuses to pair with the app. There is no Support number to call. As far as I can tell the app is useless. I hope that the devices are useful in spite of the inability to connect with the app. Bikom 20 ### 1/5 — Music and Intercom don’t work simultaneously. *2026-04-28* This app actually makes the functionality of the headsets worse. You kinda get led down the path of believing that you can have all the functionality of the connection to your phone (listen to GPS, music, take calls etc.), and still use the intercom. This isn’t the case. If I start listening to music, I’m effectively turning off the mesh network for my device and can no longer receive audio from the other user, nor send audio. It actually makes it kind of dangerous. The devices work well on their own as an intercom system, but by pairing them to your phone it complicates the use of them and makes them worse. I’d only pair with the device to do a firmware update if absolutely necessary, then go back into the iOS settings and click the “forget device” option to ensure you don’t end up in a situation where you might miss out on critical information from other riders. ### 1/5 — Updates needed *2025-12-25, version 3.1.1* Per YouTube, you can update the app through the app…NOT! Tried using my laptop to do so but after trying for over an hour I gave up. In needs bug fixing and a general rethinking of usage to make it more user friendly. You essentially need to figure everything out on your own as the included instructions are just as bad. ### 1/5 — Total Junk!!! *2025-07-24* Not able to connect. Every time it tries to pair with another device it knocks each device off Bluetooth! ### 1/5 — JUNK APP!!!! *2025-02-21* In order to update the helmet you have to plug it into a desktop?!?!! What is this 2005?!???!? No instructions in the app. You have to give it access to everything; Bluetooth, WiFi, camera, might as well put your social security # in there while you’re at it….. **Developer response:** We hear you! Headset itself works but was hoping to use the app with it. ### 1/5 — So frustrating!!!! *2024-07-06* I bought two Sena Pi devices to be able to talk and share music with my husband while we are cycling. The user setup is very confusing. We are able to connect our devices via intercom, but STILL cannot figure out how to play music over both devices simultaneously. All the tutorials online show instructions for every Sena device except the Pi. Our experience has been fine. Follow the instructions on the initial set up by downloading the device manager app and connecting to your computer. Initial test with helmets are fantastic. Latest update seems to work pretty well. Make sure you update your helmets firmware using a computer before you pair it to your phone. That seemed to be the trick for me at least. Now Sena can you please make a MIPS helmet! ### 5/5 — Working Fine *2020-11-06, version 1.1* Was surprised after reading these reviews that that app worked great and exactly as I would have expected prior to reading the reviews. Truly no issues. Maybe they fixed something not sure. I did manually Bluetooth pair before using so maybe that helped.
