## What is sendward?

Sendward is a climbing session tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch.
It is built for climbers who want to track attempts, rests, grades, heart rate, projects, and session history without turning every gym session into paperwork.
Start a session on iPhone, choose the climbing facility, then use iPhone or Apple Watch through the live climbing loop: ready, climbing, logging, resting, and back to ready.
Track:
• Boulder, Auto Belay, Top Rope, and Lead sessions
• Climb results and effort
• Optional grades
• Rest timing
• Heart rate during climbs and recovery
• Active Projects
• Project attempts
• Project progress
• Project notes
• Gym or facility history
• Calendar Archive days
• PDF session and day exports
Active Projects let you track climbs you are working on over time. A project keeps its own grade, discipline, attempts, progress stats, and notes. Use project notes for beta, movement, conditions, mistakes, and what changed between attempts.
Sendward also includes Auto Belay reminder checks. These reminders can help you pause before climbing and confirm your clip-in, carabiner lock, and tug test. Sendward does not hardware-confirm clip-in and does not replace personal responsibility or gym safety rules.
Apple Watch support keeps the live climbing loop close at hand. After a session is started on iPhone, the Watch can start climbs, finish climbs, log results, track rest, select active projects, and send heart rate information back to the iPhone archive.
Calendar Archive helps you review saved climbing days. Saved days can show the first facility initial, session summaries, climb counts, project attempts, heart rate overview, and PDF export options.
Sendward is simple on purpose: climb, log, recover, repeat.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.6 — 2026-06-18

WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 1.1.6:
This update improves Sendward’s rest tracking.
New in this version:
• Rest recommendations now consider climb grade.
• Rest still considers result, effort, discipline, and climb duration.
• Higher grades can add a small rest adjustment.
• Project climbs use the project’s saved grade when calculating rest.
• iPhone now alerts when the rest countdown naturally reaches 0:00.
• Apple Watch now gives a rest-finished alert when the countdown naturally reaches 0:00.
• Rest alerts do not fire when ending rest early.
• Rest alerts are guarded so the same rest interval does not keep alerting repeatedly.
This update keeps the existing iPhone + Apple Watch climbing loop, gym/facility support, Active Projects, project notes, heart rate tracking, Calendar Archive, and Auto Belay reminder checks.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-06-16

This update combines the latest Sendward improvements into one release.
New in this version:
• Climbing facility support has been added on iPhone.
•
Starting a session now asks which gym or facility you are climbing at.
• Previously used gyms can be selected again for faster session setup.
• Calendar Archive now shows the facility initial for saved climbing days.
• Opening a saved day shows the gym or facility used for each session.
• Active Projects now include richer iPhone-side project progress.
• Project detail pages now show attempts, attempts today, sessions worked, first tried, last worked, best result, attempts before send, climb time, assigned rest, and project history.
• Active Projects now include real editable notes on iPhone for beta, movement, conditions, mistakes, and what changed.
• iPhone now stays awake during an active Sendward session, then restores normal Auto-Lock behavior after the session ends.
• Apple Watch session behavior has been cleaned up so new sessions are started from iPhone first, where the gym is selected.
• Apple Watch still controls the live climbing loop after the iPhone session is active: start climb, finish, log, rest, projects, heart rate, and Auto Belay reminders.
This version also includes sync cleanup and archive polish for the iPhone and Apple Watch flow.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-06-16

WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 1.1.3
	●	Added a new Active Project shortcut on Apple Watch.
	●	Apple Watch can now show the phone’s full active project list.
	●	Pick any active project from Apple Watch and start using its saved discipline and grade.
	●	Project climbs now skip the grade picker because the project already has a saved grade.
	●	Active Projects remain created and managed on iPhone, with Apple Watch used for selection during climbing.
	●	Improved phone-to-watch project syncing so active projects stay available on the Watch.
	●	Added climb-duration-based rest logic, so longer climbs can add more recovery time.
	●	Updated Auto Belay flow with reminder-based start checks.
	●	Auto Belay checks remain reminders only and do not claim to verify hardware clip-in.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-13

This update adds Auto Belay Start Check, a new reminder flow for climbers using auto belay.

When Auto Belay is selected, Sendward now pauses before the climb starts and walks you through a quick checklist:

• Clip in
• Lock carabiner
• Tug test
• Confirm you checked it

Auto Belay Start Check works on iPhone and Apple Watch, so the reminder is available whether you are using the phone alone or starting from your wrist.

This update also keeps the existing Sendward session flow intact: choose your discipline, start the climb, finish, log the result, record effort and grade, then rest.

Important: Auto Belay Start Check is a reminder tool only. Sendward does not hardware-confirm clip-in and does not replace gym rules, staff checks, partner checks, or personal responsibility.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-05-26

This update adds grade logging for every climb.

New:
• Optional grade picker for each logged climb
• Boulder grades: Ungraded, Project, V0 through V15
• Top Rope and Lead grades: Ungraded, Project, 5.5 through 5.15d
• Grade logging from iPhone
• Grade logging from Apple Watch
• Grades saved into the iPhone session archive
• Grades shown in archived session details
• Grades shown in Calendar Archive
• Grades included in Session PDF Export
• Grades included in selected-day PDF Export

Improved:
• Climb records now include discipline, result, effort, tag, grade, rest, and heart-rate summaries where available
• Calendar Archive now gives a clearer view of graded climbs across saved days
• PDF exports now provide a more complete session record for later review or sharing

Sendward still keeps the same simple climbing flow:
Start Session → Start Climb → Finish → Log → Rest → Ready
