## What is Senny?

Senny is a free, all-in-one daily practice app with a personality: a friendly philosopher who read all the ancients so you don't have to.

Every day, Senny walks you through one short routine — about ten minutes:

• BREATHE — guided patterns (box breathing, 4-7-8, physiological sigh, coherent breathing) with a calm animated pacer
• SIT — an unguided meditation timer with optional interval bells and Apple Health mindful minutes; the bell still reaches you when the screen is off
• READ — a short passage from Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus, Lao Tzu, Confucius, the Dhammapada, the Bhagavad Gita, Emerson, Thoreau, Nietzsche, William James and more, set up in plain modern English
• ONE THING — name the day's most important task, and Senny checks in (gently) until it's done
• JOURNAL — evening pages that pick up the morning reading's question

THE SANCTUARY Your practice builds something you can see: a stone sanctuary that rises one stone per active day. Miss a day? Nothing falls. The light dims to dusk and a lamp stays lit — come back, and the first stone brings the dawn. No guilt, ever. Streak insurance is earned by practicing, never sold.

TWELVE TRADITIONS, EVERY LINE VERIFIED Stoicism, Epicureanism, Aristotle, the Cynics, Boethius, Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Transcendentalism, Existentialism and Psychology — over a hundred quotes and nearly ninety readings, each verified word-for-word against the cited public-domain translations. No misattributed internet quotes. Ever.

FREE MEANS FREE No subscription. No ads. No locked content. No account, no email, no sign-up — the app just works, offline too. If it helps you, there's a tip jar. Tips buy Senny figs; they unlock nothing.

YOUR DATA IS YOURS Journals and letters are private, never read, never sold. Export everything as plain text or delete it all, any time, from Settings.

Ancient wisdom, modern jokes, zero guilt. Senny is the philosopher friend you didn't know you needed.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-08-27

Senny is on your wrist.

Sit or breathe from the watch, with the screen off and your arm down — the whole point of a watch app, and the reason this one exists. A tap starts you, a tap tells you when you're done, and nothing on that screen asks for your attention in between. Your sanctuary, your streak and the day's reading are all there too, and it keeps working with your phone in another room. Mindful minutes go straight to Apple Health.

And Senny fits your iPad.

Not a phone app stretched to fill the space. The day's passage sits beside your cards instead of behind them, the library gets a proper sidebar, and the sanctuary finally has room to be looked at. Bring a keyboard and the shortcuts are there. Still three cards a day, though — a path, not a menu, whatever the size of the screen.

Breathing you can follow with your eyes shut.

The inhale is now a small series of taps rather than one, so you can feel how far through it you are instead of guessing.

Readings stop repeating themselves.

Each week's passages are dealt out so that every one gets its turn before any comes round again. Previously the same reading could land two or three days running, which rather undercut the idea of a daily one.

A minute is a real sit.

The watch offers one-minute sits, because a minute of deliberate breathing while the kettle boils is a genuine thing to want. It won't move your streak — three minutes still does that — and Senny says so once, without making a thing of it.

Also: the calendar and the streak stopped occasionally disagreeing about which days you practiced, and Senny no longer congratulates you on sitting still when you were breathing.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-18

Your sanctuary can now outlive your phone.

Connect an Apple ID in Settings and everything — every stone, every streak, every letter — comes back on a new device. Entirely optional, as always. Nothing is locked behind it, and Senny asks Apple for no name and no email.

Twice the readings.

The library has gone from 44 passages to 89, with two new traditions: Existentialism (Nietzsche, Dostoevsky) and Psychology (William James, Jung). Every tradition now opens with Senny explaining what you're walking into, because "Taoism" on its own assumes rather a lot. The Stoics no longer outnumber everyone five to one, which they'd probably tell you not to mind.

Coming back is now the best-looking moment in the app.

Miss a few days and the sanctuary falls to dusk, lamp still lit, not one stone moved. Your next stone brings the dawn — properly, with the sun coming up over everything you built.

Day 50 finally gets its moment. Finish the structure and Senny says so, at length, with the whole thing standing in golden light.

The calendar now says what it means.

A day Senny covered with mortar used to look exactly like a day you skipped, which made a perfectly healthy streak look full of holes. Mortar days have their own colour now, and the rest of the week is no longer drawn as though you'd already missed it. Tap the key underneath and Senny explains the whole arrangement — what each square is, where mortar comes from, and why there's nowhere to buy more.

Sharing, fixed and expanded. The share button on today's reading actually appears now. So does one on the post-sit quote and on every celebration.

Also: milestones now arrive whichever way you earned the day — a reading or a journal entry counts the same as a sit. Earning a day of mortar gets a word instead of silence. Your calendar and your streak could quietly drift apart after a bad connection — they're rebuilt from the same record every launch now, so the days you practised stay on the wall. And a few small things in Tasks stopped being quietly broken.
