I can record a single note without a note length. There’s an onscreen keyboard to place a note in a node via the ‘record’ button, but why not allow a string or ‘phrase’ of nodes be placed by providing a metronome and filling in the nodes with timings, which could be tweaked later. Also, there are some times when you’d like a node to hit on a specific beat (usually on the beat) if it is a cluster that is defining a more rigid form of phrasing variations. It would be great to be able to have nodes that hold a note until a certain beat is reached, or some other intuitive way of harnessing timings in a conditional manner. I love what this is capable of, but it just doesn’t flow with my thinking when I try learning to use it.I’m probably the most neurally divergent of creative types and as such, the workflow is holding me back when I know it could be easier or offer more ways to work with it. ### 4/5 — Promising! Simple good and also too simple. *2022-07-15, version 1.3.1* This app is really easy to get your gead around. I would like some more features though, like copy/paste or duplicate. It would also be nice to run two sequences from one emitter- to be able to split and merge chains, for more interesting polyphony. Split could be a toggle inside the node sidebar. Merge shouldn’t need a setting. Node edges to multiple nodes needs an “and/parallel/always” in addition to the random “or”. This would enable true polyphony for linear sets of manually triggered nodes. E.g branch a series of nodes to sustain a note or chord through multiple ticks while the other branch triggers on every tick. 2. Ability to clone emitters and nodes or set default properties for each. This would be a great convenience. 3. Trigger emitters directly from nodes. Some small room for growth of features, but really very robust as is. Nothing quite like it on iPad ("Nodal" on computer is very similar). ### 4/5 — good creative app *2017-11-27, version 1.0.0* Sequencers that bring life to old outboard kit are great for the ever impoverished musician! Some MMC & external clock option would be great! Scope for cc nodes would be the icing on the cake.... so far great for generative baselines and grooves! I press play and nothing happens. It’s driving me crazy. ### 1/5 — Lame *2023-01-26* I bought thinking the auv3 was included. I mean come on, anything that’s auv3 these days is included in the price. Nobody wants to listen to your lame included samples. Great app but lame pricing structure. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! I had invested several months of work to bring the existing app to AUv3 even five years after the initial release. With the newest release, AUv3 is included for everyone and the app still keeps evolving with no extra charge. I hope you enjoy it :-) ### 1/5 — Unreliable MIDI output (November 2019) *2019-11-26, version 1.1.0* In theory this app is exactly what I wanted. However.... I have spent hours trying to find a way to get Senode to work reliably with external and AUM hosted synths. Using a MIDI monitor app, it can be seen that sometimes / most of the time, it is sending velocity zero note data. Sometimes it is possible to prod it into life by repeated pressing the ‘+’ button the emitter box, but there’s nothing consistent about the process. Maybe the app needs updating - I’m using iPad 7th gen with iPadOS (IOS13). It could certainly do with being AUv3. If this issue was sorted out I’d happily give it 5 stars for what it should be able to do, but as it is now, with my setup, I couldn’t recommend it all. ### 2/5 — My 4th review. So long … 1 ar time? 4. More? 2. :( *2024-11-15, version 1.4.0* I had previously, mistakenly thought that Senode worked great with more than 2 instances of it. Very regrettably, no, it does not. :( 1 x Senode instance works beautifully, for a great length of time. As well, with a lot of conditional choices! Try more than 1 instance though - within the same module or as a 2nd module? Uh uh. :( False starts on 1 or both. Sync between the 2 of them, failing Notes being triggered, unreliable. In my 39 years of working with many MIDI sequencers on / in many platforms, for my own hobbies, Senode has been one of the easiest to use and most capable, in it’s somewhat extra legths of time ways! (Not intended for live performance. Standard i-Pad screen is too small for fast-action, small accurate adjustments.) This has become my greatest missing MIDI sequencer due, to it’s seemingly 2+ year abandoned, problems. Still searching for an alternative. ### 2/5 — AUv3 MIDI should have been an original feature. *2022-05-07, version 1.3.1* I definitely am not paying for a standard ‘basic’ feature. ### 3/5 — My 6th review … sorry, man. 😔 *2026-04-22* I’ve been working with Senode again, on and off since I found the latest update in late January. Recently, I’ve been trying to use it on 2 to 3 separate sequences simultaneously, on the same MIDI channel (chords) as well as on individual channels. This was it, over the last 30 minutes. 😔 At tye very beginning, it seemed that I had bith individual sequences in an idea’s test run working, individually. (A mono melody and a mono basslines.) Ensuring proper bass synth sound ops on the bass discovering that nooooo, even though everything were hooked up between the 2 voices spate from each other, both sequences seemed to be playing tge melody voice only. (It IS late and I’m tired …) But … ensuring tgat the bass sequence and voice were working properly, ensuring hooked up only to themselves … there weren’t a melody, any more. All connections as they should be. Sequencer running. No activity at the incoming Trigger / Gate; changes in incoming CVs. All, had stalled, for only the first sequencer. (An experience type had, many times in the past.) Man … in my 41 years of MIDI sequencing and CV sequencing, I have never seen a sequencer like yours. Except for real oddities in entering notes, this is the best potential, I’ve ever seen! These bugs though? I can’t use it! I’ve started planning ine out myself. I haven’t programmed in years and I’ll have to learn C++. I do have a helper at least and I want a functioning sequencer like this, befire I die. (I AM early retured niw.) Time, but here’s to hoping! What does the +Action button do? ### 3/5 — Auv3 kostet extra *2023-09-12* Super Tool für kreatives Musizieren. Leider muss die AUv3 Funktionalität extra erworben werden. Was nicht wirklich kommuniziert wird beim Kauf. War das nötig? ### 3/5 — Bought this recently… *2021-10-25, version 1.2.0* … and while I’ve just used the presets, I can’t get it to send midi to anything either in an apps stand alone mode or in a host like AUM. I can see it in AUM - even though it doesn’t load it. And I can see the midi receiving app in Senode in controls (and direct it to the synth), but no midi is sent. ### 3/5 — Idea brillante, pero le falta mucho *2018-01-09, version 1.0.1* La idea no es nueva, hay muchos secuenciadores basados en nodos en ios, pero lo que me parece realmente interesante de Senode es introducir cierta aleatoriedad en las secuencias. De hecho tiene algunas simulitudes con Fugue Machine, Seaquence, Xynthesizr o Patterning, pero no llega a ser un generativo. Para eso le haría falta poder manejar cuánto y cuándo queremos esa aleatoriedad. En cualquier caso, como idea funciona muy bien. Dicho esto, no mola mucho pagar 11 euros por una app que parece inacabada: ni siquiera tiene opción de deshacer. Viene muy pelada, a los emisores le faltan opciones, y se echan en falta funciones muy básicas como duplicar, etc... Tampoco tiene soporte para Audiobus o forma de grabar las composiciones. La única forma de sacar las canciones es conectándose a una grabadora externa, a la vieja usanza. Un engorro, y un atraso. FINALLY on the iPad, a sequencer that I COULD compose regular toons on! (80’s / 90’s similar.) NO OTHER SEQuencer though on _ANY_ platform has been as cool an idea as Sebastien’s Senode! That be why, I continually come back to give it another try! Bugs, have always been the killer. BUT … they have also been due to what _I_ were trying to do! Multi-instrument under 1, or, Mukri-Senode. On i-Pad 6 and then this 9, over the last 2 years. This latest update, I’m here to try it SOLO. 1 voice, with my desired string of changes. It IS well capable of THAT! That, I have been looking for a replacement. Nope! There are no replacements, for Senode! In this functional regard, it IS, THE BEST! On to my 2nd test song since Sab.’s latest update - back to 5*! The use of nodes connecting by direction is at once simple but powerful. Most importantly, it is inspiring to use and creates useful results. I find myself experimenting with it frequently and finding very good sounding, useful output. Back UP to 5*! *2023-04-11* I finally realized a few weeks ago, that possibly all of the odd app behaviors with MIDI and audio over the last 10+ years has been due to Audiobus / Audiobus 3! Tried firing up Senode by itself. Working beautifully! I added a MIDI synth app to be controlled by Senide - working perfectly! Without Audiobus3. I added a 2nd MIDI synth app. It and then a 3rd, all worked together with Senode, perfectly! WithOUT Audiobus3! Without a mixer! Sebastian - you’re reading - THANK YOU!! I have wanted sequencer abilities like this, for DECADES! Thank you so much dev, I really love this app!!! ### 5/5 — This is good, buy it! *2020-03-24, version 1.1.0* I have only just come across this app in the last couple of days and it’s the best iOS sequencer I’ve bought so far, and I’ve bought quite a few. There are some YouTube videos if you want to see how it works, and I was very pleased to find that it can be used with AUM. You can’t insert it into a channel but you can send midi to plugins that you’ve put into AUM. You just need to make sure AUM is selected in Senode and the midi channel for the synth corresponds with midi input in AUM. You need to change the setting from synth to midi in Senode and make sure you have AUM selected as midi sources for any synth your using in AUM itself. It took me a few minutes to get the hang of it, but it’s well worth it.
