### 5/5 — App works fine - impressive!

*2018-11-15*

Does a nice job of displaying output of all the phones sensors. Easy to use. Straightforward menus. No errors yet.

### 5/5 — Très bien

*2018-05-27*

App très intéressante, il manque cependant les dixièmes ou centièmes de secondes pour mieux analyser les événements

Ok, i found it, it was just a matter of column width in excel

**Developer response:** Hi, glad to hear you like Sensor Play.
The exported Timestamp in the csv file is actually down to 1/1000 of a second, e.g., "19-Apr-2018 12:15:45.123", please contact me directly with where you are not seeing this so we can resolve any issue.
Thanks,
Phil

### 5/5 — A bord d’un avion d’entraînement

*2018-02-02*

Simple, pratique, efficace et performant 👍

(il manque peut-être des informations permettant de mieux caractériser la précision/qualité de la mesure GPS autre que le paramètre « confidence » oscillant entre « low » et « high »)

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback.
The 'Low/Med/High' Confidence display refers to the motion Activity detected; walking, running, etc, not the gps accuracy. The gps accuracy is shown by the +/- horizontal and vertical accuracy figures in meters. I can see how there could be confusion though so thanks for pointing it out.

### 5/5 — Barometric Height Surveys

*2018-01-15*

I am undertaking an engineering investigation of a water pipeline through heavy rainforest. Although I can get OK GPS location fix of the route, I had not been able to get reasonable elevation fix using GPS due to the terrain and tree cover. Sensor Play has preformed brilliantly using a 2 station relative barometric elevation setup with an estimated accuracy of about +/- 1m over the alignment. The alternative survey was cost prohibitive. Sensor Play is a serious piece of kit for serious data collection. Thank you Philip Broder. Best $8 I have ever spent!

**Developer response:** Thank you for such great feedback John, glad to have been of help deep in the rainforest! Get in touch directly if you need any further bespoke work or modifications.

### 5/5 — Awesome support!!

*2017-11-05*

Phil was INCREDIBLY responsive to an issue regarding compatibility between Sensor Play, iPhone 7 and versions of iOS11. Ultimately we got the issue straightened out and I can continue playing around with the very cool tool he built. There are incredible possibilities with Sensor Play and exploring is most of the fun!!

### 5/5 — Well worth the $5.

*2017-10-18*

Graphs are awesome, data recording feature is invaluable and records data as .csv file.

### 4/5 — Simple and to the point. Great app

*2017-06-27*

One of the few that has multiple sensor recording.

Super easy to use.
4/5 until minor bug fixed ;)

**Developer response:** Hi, Glad to hear you like Sensor Play, please let me know the minor bug you refer too as I will definitely fix it!

### 4/5 — How do u delete old traces

*2017-01-31*

I like the app, useful, would like some calibration to know phones accuracy. I haven't found the way to delete collected traces

**Developer response:** Hi, You can delete unwanted trace files by swiping left on the file name, like the mail app, and selecting Delete. Regarding calibration, I've had very good feedback that the iPhone sensors are very accurate, but all iPhones will vary within some tolerance, if you are unsure about your iPhone you would have to compare it against another dedicated sensor of proven accuracy. Thanks for your feedback. Phil

### 5/5 — Respond quickly to issues.

*2017-01-17*

Not only the App, but also the personality of the producer is wonderful!
I will use it for research.

### 4/5 — Leider...

*2016-10-11*

...funktioniert 3D-Touch nicht auf dem iPhone7.

### 5/5 — Best Of Its Kind

*2016-06-21, version 3.5*

if you want raw sensor output, then this is your app. i used to be a fan of a competitor sensor app but this app is where its at for 2016 and beyond.

it is so cool to trap real time changes in barometric pressure! while i think this sensor's intended meaning is altitude measurement, you could probably use the raw data when stationary to interpret movement of weather fronts. (the caution here is that anytime you relocate, your barometer data will be less reliable as a weather tool...still a good altitude tool though!)

if you need or want raw sensor inputs, then spend the cash and get this app

### 5/5 — Extensive data capture capabilities

*2016-05-23, version 3.4*

This is a great technical tool. This helps a lot to get a feel for the phone sensor's capabilities.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too bad

*2019-04-12*

Iphone X's barometer cannot measure the pressure data. I have been lost my money.

**Developer response:** Hello, can you expand on what you mean and what’s going wrong as I see no issues recording pressure data on my iPhoneX.
Contact me directly at philipbroder@gmail.com so I can help you resolve this.

### 1/5 — Csv export seems buggy

*2018-12-28*

Nice tool BUT the recording show in the life view different signals than in the csv recordings!

Sometimes gravity is incorporated and in the next time step it is not!

Otherwise it is a 3 -4 star rating

**Developer response:** Hello, I see no issue with the csv export of accelerometer data, it always gives you both the accelXYZ fields which incorporate gravity, and the accelUserXYZ fields which remove the affect of gravity to isolate the User’s acceleration.
The Accelerometer view gives you the option to remove G from the interactive display, either way both values are recorded.
The file viewer always shows the accelUserXYZ data as this is generally more useful, however both types are exported on the csv.
A test is to simply record a few seconds with the iPhone flat on a table, the csv export will show a clear and consistent difference in the Z axis
If you still have issues please get in touch directly so I can help get to the bottom of this, please include files you feel are showing the problem you describe.
Regards,
Phil

### 1/5 — Not working

*2017-06-02, version 3.8*

Every time I try to view a file, the app quits.

### 1/5 — Crashes on iPad

*2015-10-21, version 2.1*

When I stop recording the app crashes on my iPad Air 1.

### 2/5 — Geht so

*2015-03-18*

**Developer response:** Sensor Play does now allow recording of all sensor data, in the background too, so is now a very useful research tool. Thanks for your feedback, please update and take another look.

### 3/5 — iPhone 16e keine Barometeranzeige

*2025-06-14*

Leider funktioniert beim IPhone 16e die Barometeranzeige nicht mehr, die App stürzt nach dem Aufruf der Barometeranzeige sofort ab.

### 3/5 — Sensors Play vs Sensors Pro

*2018-08-06*

I’m still trying to figure out the difference between the two app. I brought this one before noticing the other app. I like the darker blue background of Sensors Pro, is there a way to match that in Sensors Play? I don’t know, not that I can tell.

If it was clarified the difference between the two apps (see above) and if custom background colors/gradients were an option, that would make this a 5-star app!

### 3/5 — Barometer is not used in ipad air2

*2016-10-14*

Barometer is not used in ipad air2.

### 4/5 — Very Good but not complete !!

*2019-09-11*

1) CMCalibratedMagnetic Field x, y, z are always zero (0), on iPhone 8+ and my iPad.
2) Though CMMagnetometer values are useful for somethings, CLHeadingComponent Values x, y, z (micro Tesla), are better for calculating stuff, IMHO,

CLHeading:
I believe, Represents a vector pointing to magnetic North.

Please fix, and add CLHeading Magnetic Data 🤓😎.

### 4/5 — No decibel

*2019-01-28*

You should really add the decibel value!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — M11-M33

*2024-04-16*

on the record data (csv file), what does m11, m12,m13 actually mean?

**Developer response:** Hello, these values represent the rotation matrix of the device, see this for more info:

https://developer.apple.com/documentation/coremotion/cmattitude/1616139-rotationmatrix

Thanks for your support.

### 5/5 — Works as adevertized

*2023-06-24*

This was the only app I found to easy capture the telemetry data I was looking for. I tried several other app export data was challenging, logs were in accurate. I have two suggestion, the app needs some documentation, specifically what all the data headers are. When I airdrop the data and open I in excel and there are tons on columns some of which I don’t know what they are.

### 5/5 — Bien

*2022-11-24*

Efficace. Il manque un enregistrement dans ICloud et
qu’est-ce -ce que c’est 3D Touch?

**Developer response:** Thank you.
Not sure what you mean about iCloud?
3D Touch is available on iPhones from 6S to X, it measured the pressure you pressed on the screen.

### 5/5 — Great App!!!

*2020-11-15*

I’ve used several sensor apps on iPhone, and this is my favorite. I like the intuitive interface and the ability to record for long periods. I’ve used it in many applications, including precision analysis of aircraft motion during test flights.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review, so glad to hear how useful Sensor Play is out there.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2020-10-30, version 5.2*

Good app, would like to know what units the accelerometer data is reported in? Is it metric?

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2020-07-01*

I found this app by coincidence and immediately downloaded it. As a private pilot I intend to use it as a tracking/ manouever recording tool. First tests indicate excellent functionality and also extremely good usability.

If I had one wish to the developer:
A time stamp button would make it a lot easier to find a specific action in the data analysis. This would be extremely beneficial and not to difficult to implement.

A second wish would be axis values in the live view.

And audio recording...:-)

**Developer response:** Thank you for the great feedback.

Please get in touch via the app so we can discuss your ideas further.

### 5/5 — Great app for recording and sharing multi-sensor data

*2020-03-29*

Simple, easy to use. Automation is a nice feature. Would be great to have a trigger from the camera, is it possible/planned? Thanks!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review!
What did you have in mind for the camera automation trigger?

### 5/5 — Good but not perfect.

*2020-01-12*

Works great on my iPhone 11 except for the following that I have found so far.

I set it to record for 45,000 seconds (750 minutes or 12.5 hours) and it shuts off at 6:00 hours.

Also, I set the multi sensor recording to trigger on a g level and it only triggers on -g levels on the 2 g scale. I flew my iPhone 11 on a Blue Origin flight and found this out the hard way.

### 5/5 — The best sensor data recorder!

*2019-05-27*

Great and easy to use app for engineers, students, researchers and anyone obsessed with motion analysis!
I wish it worked with the screen locked and it could record the real-time location. (Perhaps it does, but couldn't figure out how)

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review. Sensor Play will record in the background plus record your real time location, go to the Multi Sensor recorded option and select what you want to record. If you have any trouble get in touch with me directly. Cheers.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2018-12-19*

Can export csv from mobile,
With My iPhone se can use 100Hz sampling ^^.
I want to know how developer calculate angles =) adorable
