## What is Sensory SOS?

Sensory SOS is a free, local first support app for moments of sensory overload, panic, shutdown, anxiety, or communication difficulty.

Designed for neurodivergent people, including autistic and ADHD users, as well as anyone who experiences overwhelm or panic attacks, Sensory SOS gives you simple tools that are easy to use when cognitive load is high.

There are no accounts, no adverts, no subscriptions, and no paywalls. Everything is designed to work quickly, privately, and with as little effort as possible.

Communicate without speaking

Use large, simple cards to communicate urgent needs when speaking feels difficult or impossible.

Messages include:

“I need quiet”
“I need to leave”
“Please don’t touch me”
“I need a break”
“I need space”
“I’m overwhelmed”

Tap a card to show the message clearly on screen and have it spoken aloud using the iPhone’s built in voice.

Calm breathing and visual focus

Sensory SOS includes gentle visual breathing tools designed to provide a single point of focus.

Follow a soft glowing orb, calming wave, or simple breathing rhythm to help slow things down when your mind feels overloaded.

Subtle haptic feedback can help guide the rhythm without needing to stare at the screen.

Ground yourself with 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

The grounding tool walks you through the five senses one step at a time.

Rather than showing a wall of instructions, Sensory SOS keeps each step simple and focused, helping reduce choice paralysis and overwhelm.

Instant dark screen

The always available SOS button quickly switches the app to a near black screen, helping reduce harsh visual input when light, colour, or motion becomes too much.

Built for privacy

Sensory SOS is local first. The app does not require an account and does not sell your data.

Sensory SOS is a wellbeing support tool, not a medical device or replacement for professional care. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact emergency services or a trusted person nearby.
