Balance is dictated by min max players, and makes it hard for new players to ramp up easily. Don’t even think about trying to play with a random set unless you figure it out all the different min max capabilities of all carts. However, once you figure out all the different cards, it’s a pretty fun game. It’s just difficult to get to the fun part. ### 2/5 — Major security risks *2022-12-18, version 3.2.7* Several links from your multiplayer system have a severe risk of sending users to risky sites, and it scares me immensely to even use your app now. But after an hour and going through the tutorial i am still confused. I am sure it is great but the cards pop up for like 5 seconds and then disappear before I can read them. There are so many concepts firing at you so fast that it feels like I am just clicking stuff and am along for the ride. But I will keep trying as I really want to love this ### 2/5 — DLC Glitching *2020-10-18, version 3.1.1* In spite of all the fixed bug promises, this game is glitchier than ever. The newest bug? Opening a fresh multiplayer lobby and having none of the DLC available. Am I supposed to redownload both full seasons every time I want to play? Come on. CONSTANT UNFIXED server issues aside, at least before the latest update I was able to access all my content whenever I opened the app. ### 2/5 — Fun but too difficult *2020-06-17, version 3.0.10* Played a few games and could barely win the tutorial. Second game I got slaughtered. It’s fun, but the games are 30+ minutes and very frustrating. I have deleted it. It’s just not for me. ### 3/5 — Replaces Physical Game *2020-06-05, version 3.0.10* Issue - app now backs out to main menu every time I move out of it. Used to stay in the active game. This becomes annoying and almost makes me feel like I can only play when I can devote my full time to a game. Starts to feel like I am spending more time loading in each time then playing. Love the app otherwise! Great game. Due to all the stuff you have to try to keep track of, I much prefer playing this game digitally than the actual physical version. I also bought it on my iphone, only to discover I am now expected to pay full price to download to my iPad. What a rip-off! ### 5/5 — Love this more than original card game *2019-07-16, version 3.0.6* Surprised I binge played this so much when I first got it. Didn’t love original card game but for 99 cents had to give it a try. It keeps track of things I tend to forget round-to-round like bonuses and... other things. Very fun! Only complaint is text is hard to read on my iphoneX especially on villain cards. Would be nice if there was a way to blow it up to read. Have actually taken screenshots and zoomed in that way to read some villain text. Small suggestion: Defeating the villain feels like such an accomplishment sometimes, I wish there was some simple ‘end of game’ victory animation/dialogue similar to what starts off the game. A little something for the “job” well-done. Otherwise, love it!!! ### 2/5 — Phenomenal Port, But Too Buggy *2019-06-12, version 3.0.5* 5 star game and 5 star adaptation of the physical game - absolutely LOVE the weekly challenges and all the DLC. *EXCEPT* lately I can’t make it through a whole game without the app crashing half a dozen times. Once the crashing is fixed, 5 stars from me. ### 4/5 — One of the Best *2019-05-06, version 3.0.3* Absolutely fantastic. With all the variables brought on by different heroes, villains, and environments, the amount of unique combinations of play styles is colossal. There are a few things that could be better, however. The app does occasionally crash, and though it always saves your progress, it’s still pretty annoying when it happens. I would also like it if I could somehow save which expansions I’ve already purchased online so that I won’t have to buy them all over again if I ever switch to the Steam version. ### 5/5 — Mein Lieblingsspiel *2019-04-06* Habe alle Inhalte gekauft und es nie bereut. Ich bin immer für eine Partie zu haben. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Ridiculously brutal and tedious *2026-05-27, version 4.1.3* This game (both this and the physical version) is one of the most frustratingly tedious and disheartening games I've ever played. Villains are so overpowered, with abilities that just continuously drain all heroes, making it incredibly difficult to win. One villain has a minion that prevents ALL damage to all other villain cards AND reduces damage to itself. Meanwhile the other minions it protects do damage to heroes and force them to discard. The first turn I played against that villain, all heroes had to discard half their hands as well as take damage. Then when it was finally the heroes turns, they could barely touch the defender since most abilities only do 1-2 damage. Another villain has minions that cause another card to be played from the villain deck, which can lead to huge chaining of playing cards - you can end up with like 10 minions in one turn! Then you have to try to manage/track all the abilities of those cards plus all the ones from your heroes, making gameplay incredibly tedious and confusing. If I wanted to be frustrated, depressed, and confused, I could just go get completely drunk and throw my money out the window, and it would be easier than playing this game. Why would anyone want to play a game that's so intentionally discouraging? ### 1/5 — I wholeheartedly regret this purchase *2026-03-16, version 4.1.3* ive seen this game on here for years but always thought, that seems a bit overpriced. i recently saw it on a big 80% off sale and i grabbed it and first season pass or whatever. im still annoyed i paid 8 bucks for that. if the whole shebang (game with all dlcs) was 5 dollars, id still not recommend it to myself. pricing aside, i can see why this kind of asymmetric/coop game would be loved—unique powers, lots of combinations—but many of the characters have identical cards with different names. also, many villains have cards (like ongoing) that if you havent chosen a character to address it than youre done! so there isnt much variety in characters ultimately (outside of some flavor) and youre limited in variety due to a need to counter. to make matters worse, some characters are more than useless (that knock-off deadpool character comes to mind)! i genuinely dont understand the price tag on a game that is surpassed on all fronts by other free games that only have one dlc to unlock all content. ### 1/5 — I want my money back… *2024-01-08, version 4.1* Every time I play this game I lose. The artwork is amazing. This app replaces the physical game for me in all ways. So why do I give it one star? The game crashes more than a bind person going the wrong way on the interstate. Sure, it’s annoying, but as a person who has bought both Season 1 and 2 with all expansions, I should expect a game that’s stable. So long as this game crashes minimally 4 times per game, it can only get one star till it’s stability is fixed. ### 1/5 — Type impossible to read 😑 *2019-04-10, version 3.0.2* I don’t know what is happening, when I had an iPhone 7 I never felt like this. I have the physical base game and a few expansions. Love the game and the digital version is just as good maybe even better because I don’t have to remember all the bonuses, shuffle all the decks etc. The physical game is more fun with other people though since I just pull it out and we can play but love playing the app solo. ### 5/5 — Fantastic Game! *2022-03-04, version 3.2.4* A really fun game that is very thematic. Don’t be put off by other reviews claiming it’s too complex or difficult (it’s not, and this is coming from someone that’s never played the physical version). You play as a team of heroes each with their own unique deck of cards that form their abilities playing against a villain deck along with an environment deck. On your turn you can play a card, use a power on one of your cards already in play, and then draw a card (or skip steps 1 & 2 to draw two cards instead). Villains each have their own unique deck and will play cards, activate their cards in play and generally do nasty stuff to you on their turns. Between the heroes and villain turns the environment (again, each with its own unique deck) will get a turn putting hazards/events into play that the heroes will need to deal with. Villains, heroes, and environment decks can each be mixed and matched for a ton of different combinations. The strategy comes from clever card play/combinations and managing the multiple threats while trying to reduce the villain’s life to zero.
