I bought one unit to test it out in our rental property. But boy am I going in a different direction. This app is truly the worst app on the planet. I have the strongest WiFi in my house but this unit seems unable to find it. It has been impossible to connect this to the app so I can control it remotely. There’s no point in investing in this stuff if one cannot control it wirelessly. Well, with so much competition in the market I’m pretty sure some other brand can deliver in this regard. ### 3/5 — Please add feature to turn off LCD in app *2024-06-09* I use the app way more than the remote and whenever the mini split has been turned off and then back on, the lit-up display with the set temperature shows up again. And then I have to find the remote to turn off the display because I can’t so that from the app. Please make a feature where I can use the app to turn off the LCD display. ### 3/5 — Skip Senville, use Midea Air app *2024-02-05* I had similar issues to others in terms of bugging this and general inconsistency with the native Senville app. After reviewing several user forms, I found that the third-party Midea mobile app would work just fine as an alternative remote controller for Senville units. Since they are all effectively manufactured by Midea and then rebranded under a different name (as many are in the sector) you’re effectively just using the original first party mobile app that’s also updated far more often than Senville’s (based on the release history here). Has been great for me and offered out of the box Alexa integration from day, one without an additional/updated Wi-Fi dongle purchase. Give it a shot when you are within Wi-Fi/Bluetooth range of your head units and see if it works for you! ### 1/5 — Never stays connected *2024-02-02, version 1.2.2* These things are awful and I highly regret buying this brand. They say it integrates with Amazon Alexa but it constantly disconnects and then there’s this app. Forget about it. I have installed Mr.Cool, Pioneer and Senville mini splits and these mini splits are the worst. Will never buy from this company again. App are useless and mini splits are not energy efficient as other 2 brands. Stay away. Return them if you have bought them and get the Pioneers. You would think Senville should be as seamless as Alexa, after all it’s their unit, but this app does not work either using blue tooth OR joining a network. ### 1/5 — Great unless you want to use the app *2023-08-02* The app never connected, unit gets stuck in AP mode and customer support is as responsive as sending letters through the mail. Long waits in between each email and some responses seem generic and don't help you but rather only waste your time, delaying a solution. If you're looking for smart features, I'd go elsewhere or just buy their unit minus the wifi option. ### 1/5 — Cannot get to connect *2023-02-09* Cannot get this app to connect to device. Did manage to connect to Alexa but it would only work occasionally. Reason I bought this brand is for mobile connectivity but it doesn’t even work ### 1/5 — App is terrible *2022-12-17, version 1.2.2* Worked great for a year. Now the app controls do nothing. Only way to change settings is from the physical remote. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time *2022-11-12* This is quite possibly one of the worst apps for a home appliance I have ever used. The app will only let me install one split ac unit and refuses to configure my second unit. To top it off, after failing to install the second unit the app gets stuck in an “operation failed” loop and won’t let me log back into my account. The only option is to delete the app, reinstall and log back in. I ended up just giving up on connecting my second unit. Will not connect no matter what you do. For all the money spent on this system you would think they would provide a decent app to control it with. But, no. Very disappointed. Would not buy Senville again. ### 1/5 — DOES NOT WORK with Senville Smart Control Kit *2026-05-23, version 2.0.0* Not wanting to install the Amazon Alexa app, I naively ASSUMED that Senville's "Smart Control Kit" would work with Senville's App. IT DOES NOT. But STUPIDLY, the instructions from the app to put the unit into AP mode APPEAR to work, displaying "AP" on the split's display. (It should not). I’d not allow my team to publish this… you shouldn’t either. ### 1/5 — FAIL: all methods tried (but Alexa works) *2025-08-13* We were excited to use this Senville app for our new $17K Aura model mini split system (their newest & best). But we were sorely disappointed. Our old $5K single Carrier mini split had a similar app to Senville’s and was delightful to set up & use. The Senville app fails to connect by any of their suggested methods. Two of us tried with 2 different iPhones in 2 different rooms setting up our Wi-Fi correctly for 2G connectivity. Great mini split system & IR remotes, but useless app. We have iPhone 14 w/ iOS 18.4 running. They have qr codes that dont do anything and the app workflow is a complete busy. They sell systems and heavily promote their Wi-Fi connectivity through the app, but they don’t actually tell people that they need to buy a special Wi-Fi kit for anything to work. So many people, just like me bought an AC system and expected to use the app to control it but were never informed about the need for a Wi-Fi kit. I screwed around with the app for an hour until I gave up and did some internet research and discovered the need for a kit. How could the company be so stupid as to hide this critical information from their customers? ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — This makes me so happy! *2022-10-10* I agree it's not a perfect app or dongle. Took multiple tries to finally connect to WiFi. BUT IT WORKS! I had no idea the mini split I bought two years ago had a USB port to plug a WiFi dongle into, and I've been lamenting for those years that I didn't buy a WiFi capable unit to monitor when away from home, especially in freezing temps. But it turns out just popping in the $50 dongle made it remote accessible! 😃 ### 5/5 — Works great for me *2021-08-27* I expected to have problems with all of the negative reviews, but the app has been working great for me for the last several months. I use it to turn on the unit before going out to my office occasionally and I set a night time schedule to turn off the unit if it is accidentally left on. Update your firmwares ### 5/5 — App does a great job at what it promises to do *2020-09-03, version 1.1.0* If there was anything I would add to it, it would be a section that shows the actual runtime of the unit. I heat and cool my garage as it is my work shop. I just insulated and drywalled it and when I turned the 12,000BTU unit on it took only 20 minutes to reach the set point. What would be nice, is to know how often in 24 hours the unit ran to keep that set point. One other thing that might be a nice addition, is the ability to see what the relative humidity is. When using the app in “Dry” mode, you don’t have any idea what the humidity level is. ### 5/5 — Purchased for 5 zone 4 ton *2019-12-04* Just what I hoped for in mobile functionality. Easy to set up, very reliable, does more than I need it to including arranging all schedules of operation for all 4 zones separately. Would be nice to have one page summarizing status of all 4 zones. Was amazed that I could run status diagnostics on every zone from my phone including 104 status tests!! Wow ### 5/5 — Very Satisfied! *2019-07-09, version 1.0.0* We were using the electric heat on the second floor and always had a dry throat the next day. Then we decided to buy an AC /Heat Unit and all of a sudden my dry throat disappeared, thanks to the heat coming from the Unit.. Then we sold our house and unfortunately had to let go of the unit with the house. Connected via the USB Wifi Module with Senville Aura 12,000 in Northern Ontario. Consistently able to control via application, at home and away. Not as feature rich as actual remote, but main functions are covered. ### 4/5 — Needs correct iOS USB adapter, Alexa is poor substitute *2025-11-10, version 1.3.0* *2 types* of USB Wifi adapters! Good app, but WON’T WORK if you have the Alexa-enabled USB dongle. You need the other, nearly identical $80 USB module to use the Apple app from Senville. SENVILLE & SELLERS SHOULD *TELL YOU* THIS BEFOREHAND. Alexa app control is inferior to Senville app control. Senville iOS app has *all* the functions of their standard IR room remote (included w/ each indoor unit). The Alexa app shows less than half of these control features. [Previous review before learning this on my own: Big disappointment with app for new Aura model mini split system. Our similar old Carrier mini split app worked great. The Senville app fails to connect by any of their suggested ways. Two of us tried with 2 iPhone 14’s in 2 setting up 2G Wi-Fi correctly and set wall air handlers in AP discoverable mode. You make a great hvac product but this app is dragging us all down.
