This platform is used by almost every private school in Australia, which means it has massive reach, strong financial backing, and long-term institutional support. With that level of dominance, you’d expect a modern, well-designed, and constantly improving product. Instead, SEQTA feels stuck in the past. One of the biggest issues is how little the app has evolved. There hasn’t been a meaningful update or redesign in around five years, and it shows immediately. The user interface is bland, outdated, and visually unappealing, with design choices that feel closer to an app from 20 years ago than something students are expected to use daily in 2026. It lacks modern UI standards like smooth animations, clean layouts, proper spacing, and intuitive visual hierarchy. Navigation is another weak point. Simple tasks—checking homework, viewing timetables, reading messages, or tracking assessments—often feel more complicated than they need to be. The app doesn’t feel student-focused or efficient, and using it can feel like a chore rather than a tool that actually helps with organisation and learning. What makes SEQTA’s situation even worse is that better alternatives already exist. Apps like Compass are proof that school management platforms don’t have to feel outdated or clunky. Compass has a cleaner, more modern interface, smoother navigation, and a noticeably better user experience overall. It actually feels like a platform designed for today’s students, not one frozen in the past. Compared to Compass, SEQTA feels slow, stale, and behind the curve. This highlights how much potential SEQTA is wasting. Private schools invest huge amounts of money into subscriptions, technology, and digital learning ecosystems. With that level of investment, SEQTA should be setting the standard, not falling behind competitors. It could easily introduce a full UI redesign, better mobile optimisation, smarter notifications, and features that align with how students and teachers actually work in real life. At the moment, SEQTA works—but that’s the bare minimum. It functions, but it doesn’t innovate, impress, or evolve.
