### 3/5 — Bom app

*2026-08-22*

O app é bom, mas existem filmes que não consigo encontrar e não há opção para exportar dados.

### 4/5 — Will the app also be available on macOS?

*2026-08-16, version 2.8.5*

Just the title.

### 5/5 — perfect except needing simkl support

*2026-08-10, version 2.8.5*

i’ve used MANY media tracker apps and this one is by far my fav but it can’t be my top used tracker app until it supports SIMKL as trak.tv has gone downhill and even Infuse has SIMKL direct support now so as soon as this app updates with that it’ll easily become my topmost media app

### 5/5 — Enjoy the App

*2026-08-07, version 2.8.5*

Started using this app a couple of weeks ago when TVLine stopped being supported. I like this app even better! It’s tracks, movies, series, books, and more.

### 5/5 — New User

*2026-08-06, version 2.8.5*

I have been using this app for a few months now and really enjoy it. It’s a simple way to keep track of all my television series and shows. Just recently upgraded to the 7 day trial and it’s even better! If you are looking for a simple app to keep track of movies, television series and what platforms they’re on, this is perfect for you. Love that I am able to see upcoming series and shows as well. The reminder feature is pretty cool too. I really enjoy using it.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-08-03, version 2.8.5*

I was disappointed when the previous app I used to track tv series & movies shutdown, but after finding this app, I must say it’s better in every way plus teals books too! Top notch!

The best I've used so far

### 5/5 — Great interface!

*2026-07-30, version 2.8.5*

Love it.

### 5/5 — Almost PERFECT

*2026-07-27, version 2.8.4*

It would be great if the upcoming tv show section had more than just 2 upcoming shows. Maybe add a premiering this month section.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-07-26*

Estou curtindo usar o app. Simples e fácil de usar.

### 5/5 — Seems great

*2026-07-25, version 2.8*

I’ve only been using this for a short while, but it seems to work very well. Easy to use and a great way of remembering where you are in a series, or which films you want to watch.

### 5/5 — Sequel is Amazing!

*2026-07-24, version 2.8*

I have been looking for some time for an app to keep track of the media I consume, particularly films and television. I finally found Sequel, and it has everything that I’ve been looking for. I especially love the feature where you can sort everything into collections. Fantastic app!

### 5/5 — 10/10 Masterclass

*2026-07-22*

I rarely leave app reviews, but in this case I simply had to! This app is absolutely amazing! The person developing it knows exactly how an app like this needs to work and look. Usability through the roof! The best app I've found over the past years by far!

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect, But Could Use Some Data Help

*2026-07-21, version 2.8.3*

This is the media consumption app I have stuck with after trying a handful. The UI has many options without being complex. Intuitive is the word I would use to describe it. People like to organize media differently and the develop team recognizes this but does not get overly finicky. The poster images are crisp and when you select one, the transition to the fullscreen view is smooth and fun. Recognizing that they don’t have all the details, they do a good job of surfacing other resources. I wish they had a callout to Callsheet. The main problem I have with Sequel is that it’s a bit think on the cast and crew info. I generally have to pop over to Callsheet to see actors not listed in Sequel as well as well as demographic data about them. I also which I could select a image for an actor listed and see it in a larger format. Mash Sequel with Callsheet and you have a 5 star product. Thanks for the hard work, it is appreciated.

### 4/5 — Clean and efficient

*2026-07-20*

Love it! Hopefully we would see some new features in the future for a bit more easier tracking. Something direct on the home screen. Also some overall stats!

### 5/5 — Quasi parfaite

*2026-07-20*

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-07-20, version 2.8.3*

I regularly test differences between Sequel and its main competitor Sofa. Whilst the custom categories of Sofa seems pretty nice, it’s Sequel’s search that keeps bringing me back. Super fast search. And I really appreciate that when you click on a result you actually get IMDb style meta data, so I can check out the info I normally need to, without having to put up with how bloated IMDb is these days.

Sofa has a really cool small widget that counts down to three items at a time, I wish sequel could do that. Sequel’s countdown widget is fantastic and I love that it lets me choose the item, but I think letting me choose “up to 3” would be perfect. And sometimes I feel as if it chooses the wrong image from the meta data for the widget. Beyond that I just wish it has slightly better icons. Like maybe a cool retro vhs themed icon with the horizontal banded gradient lines.

Near perfect app 👍👍👍

### 5/5 — Fantastic App!

*2026-07-20, version 2.8.2*

This is an update to my previous review, now having given myself actual time to try out all the app's features properly. For me this was exactly what I was looking for when my previous TV Tracking app closed down.

Simplistic, yet very sleek UI. The presentation is phenomenal. Each entry's info page looks professional, with how the cover photo blends into a solid colour, it all looks beautiful with iOS' Liquid Glass. All the relevant information from the database is clearly displayed for the user. It's quick and simple to find certain cast members and see what else they were in.

It's very quick to find and add new things to your watchlist, and marking episodes off is quick and no fuss. I love the pie charts for each season dropdown showing how close you are to finishing. It all feels just right.

And the app is versatile! As I only use it for TV, and not movies or games, etc. I was able to hide all those sections from the app’s landing page and make it a purely TV tracking experience.

Wonderful work from the devs, I look forward to supporting them from here on out!

### 5/5 — Really solid app, but…

*2026-07-17, version 2.8*

I downloaded this after TVTime's closure announcement, and the user interface is just GORGEOUS. Leagues ahead of the competition.

As you can expect, I'm mostly here for TV tracking and the experience is almost perfect, so I hope you don't mind a few of my suggestions.

My big one is that I wish we had more tabs to divide our saved items. Perhaps something like:

- Continue Watching (same purpose as the current watchlist)
- Want to Watch (shows you haven’t started yet but are interested in)
- Dropped (for shows you gave up on, or just aren’t currently watching anymore)
- Watched (for finished and up to date series only)
- Everything (big page for everything together)

Another small feature I’d love is a small progress bar beneath or on the poster of our shows, basically showing how far through you are at a glance.

As well as this, I think there should be a visual toggle whether or not to show the show’s release date and title when viewing all the saved items together. I prefer the look of just having the posters next to each other.

My suggestions aside, this is a fantastic app and would really recommend to others! Even got some friends on too.

### 5/5 — seems cool

*2026-07-16, version 2.8.1*

seems cool

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs customization

*2026-07-08, version 2.8*

There is no customization. Like in the "layout" section, whatever I choose, nothing changes. I guess they are just there for the view. Plus, I never play games and I track my books somewhere else so I think there should be an option to just not search these when I search. Basically, the people yearn for customization.. I appreciate the fact that you guys have a really large database including a lot of countries though 🙏🏻

### 1/5 — so many missing titles

*2026-06-01, version 2.7.1*

i must be an expert at searching for all of the titles that aren’t included in the app, and curiously there’s always the “summary” version of said book already in the app. i don’t understand why you would have multiple summaries to choose from but not the original?!

### 1/5 — Very Disappointed

*2026-02-28*

The search is so single title based, not that there may be option to search based on common artist, writer, director or anything. There are no specific filters to explore particular new books or movies or games or anything.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry Sequel didn’t meet your expectations. Note that you are absolutely able to search for a writer, director, or actor. You’ll be able to open their profile and see everything they’ve worked on. If you believe this is not working correctly however, please reach out to me at romain@getsequel.app and I’ll be happy to look into it for you.

### 1/5 — very good but expensive

*2025-07-27, version 2.5.2*

i love this app but it’s so expensive for just basic functions. as a student its just hard to justify the price.

### 1/5 — Not a great library of books

*2025-04-26, version 2.4.9*

Was hoping I could track all my books and movies in one place, but it just doesn’t have a great catalogue of books, even using keyword search (which is annoying in itself as the search bar only comes up in the view before you select the type of media (movies/books/games etc) - once you click books the search bar disappears.

You need the pro version to use magic search which was my main reason to install, and it’s buggy… if you click try it redirect to browser, tells you to share with sequel, if you use non-apple browser the instructions are wrong, if you then open that link in safari it doesn’t work (and wording is wrong for current safari edition). Eventually I went around it and found the setting to share and on retry it still redirects back to browser.

You also need pro version to try syncing your streaming service watch list or reading lists, so unable to check main features, but it was so unintuitive and buggy I’ll go back to using Trakt / IDMB and Goodreads.

### 2/5 — App is a bit of a mess

*2026-07-12, version 2.8*

Appreciate the response. To start with I’ve looked the “sort by” in series under the 3 dots and there is no last watched. Also I noticed shows I had on watch later or dropped didn’t match here. Don’t know if the import method supports that or the app just doesn’t have that. So next specifically the “watch next” definitely is not the same order to tv time. Down under released is close to the order of what tv time was but it has the shows I’ve put on watch later or dropped.

Last things, about putting shows and movies in the bottom bar. At least an option to would be nice if possible and about the anime sometimes bunching into one season. Yeah that sucks totally fine if over time it’s gets fixed.

### 2/5 — This should be a onetime purchase

*2026-03-13, version 2.7.1*

A useful well designed app that kills its own utility by locking some of the best features behind subscription paywalls (like unlimited collections). This is not the type of app that warrants a subscription.

### 2/5 — Unusable

*2025-09-17, version 2.6.2*

Your watchlist is typically organized by media type and status. Find all of your saved items by navigating to the main library section of the app. I have spent a week on and off trying to find my watchlist. WAY too difficult to be enjoyable.

### 2/5 — Looks great but it’s not free

*2025-07-14, version 2.5.2*

I’m always on the look out for a new app to track my shows and by accident I ended up on Sequel. Immediately, I was blown away by the modern, sleek yet functional UI. Unfortunately, that’s where my praises end. There’s a paywall that prevents you to get to the most basic functions like getting notifications! Now, I can understand the need for sustainability bc everyone needs to make a living, but it’s completely anti-marketing blocking the notifications behind a subscription model. That’s what lures users back into the app daily, that’s what keeps users from deleting it! It just makes no sense. I don’t approve but I can understand having to pay for other things like auto-sync, but I didn’t mind spending 3 days adding all my shows, movies, and books manually. I do mind that I have no way of knowing when there’s a new episode out, though.
This seems to be an independent developer so I truly hope this is just a mistake based on inexperience, and I honestly wish they’d seek advice on the matter, but as of right now I don’t feel like recommending Sequel unless you’re willing to subscribe.

Another feedback I would like to share: while tv shows and movies are tracked by release date, books and audiobooks should not only have a way of tracking by release daye but also a way of tracking progress. That would make it a much well-rounded experience. As for games, I’m not a gamer but perhaps there are more ways of tracking progress there too that would give users something more to do with the app.

### 2/5 — Was a good app, now I wish for an additional setting

*2025-01-07*

This is a really good app that I use to track everything that I watch, play, read, and listen to. I chose it specifically despite the other competitor apps because it did not have a “watch date” on my shows, as I sometimes forget and have to add it later. I had gone through probably a few dozen apps before I was able to settle on sequel. Simple, attractive ui, really great app. Until it updated. And now it has obligatory, non editable watch dates. Now, this is only minorly annoying, but it’s enough that I’m tempted to find a new tracking app, or to even create my own. All I ask, dear developer, is that you give us a setting (in free mode, please) to completely turn off the watch date interface. I don’t want to know *when* I watched these movies, because my memory isn’t that great, so most of the dates are wrong. It gives me so much unnecessary stress and anxiety, when it was the main feature that I had downloaded this app for. I suppose it’s the truth of “one man’s trash” and all that, but the simple lack of watch dates was my treasure. I hope you take this to heart, and I hope to see a new setting soon. One day, when I can afford it, if this app is still everything it was when I first found it, I will be buying the paid version. I just want to see some changes first. One change. Let me turn off watch dates.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. I intentionally designed the completion date experience to be non-obtrusive by not prominently asking users to enter one and by displaying the information in a subtle manner. Despite my best efforts, I’m sorry to hear this doesn’t quite work for you. I’m taking your feedback on board and will consider it for future updates.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2026-09-03, version 2.8.6*

This app is very well made and has many useful features. It has a nice aesthetic and runs very well. The best app for media tracking.

### 5/5 — Perfect for my needs and support is wonderful

*2026-08-29, version 2.8.6*

I spent a year watching about 200 low budget horror movies that I kept pulling up to watch again because they sounded interesting and then realized I’d seen it 5 minutes in. I started using a very ineffective spreadsheet to track them.

I came across Sequel a few years ago and it’s fixed everything. I really appreciate I can track games, books, and TV as well instead of needing to maintain those as a side thing. I’ve appreciated the ability to add movies (specifically ones on YouTube) I’ve seen that don’t have an entry so I have a record of those as well.

I wanted to specifically call out how great Roman is with feedback and questions. I sent an email a few months ago asking if it was possible to do something, and he quickly got back to me with a work around. This month I got a follow up email that he’d added it as a feature, which was great to hear. But him remembering I made the request and emailed me to let me know was completely unexpected and appreciated.

Sequel is amazing and I am confident it will just keep getting better!

### 5/5 — I love Sequel

*2026-08-25, version 2.8.6*

Like many I’m trying to leave Trakt because of the way they run the service and their platform. I searched for ages before I found Sequel, seems to currently be hard to discover but wow is it by far the best replacement or addition to using Trakt! The app is such a joy to use and they recently added a way to export/back up data at a click of a button which is great.

The interface is fantastic, the shows look amazing and the tracking is so easy to use.

I wish discovery was a little more fleshed out but I’m sure that’ll come over time and good tracking is far more important than discovery anyway so keep up the awesome work!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-24, version 2.8.5*

It’s a great, easy-to-use app that helps me keep track of all my media, as well as future movies, TV shows, and books I’m looking forward to! Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Great App - I love it

*2026-08-24, version 2.8.5*

I’ll be honest, I’m only here because TV Time went away. I loved TV Time and it was free. I wanted an app that was as good. Paying was okay with me. However I hate subscriptions, so I bought time lifetime pass. It’s a Risk. But it’s a great app and tracking my shows and movies with a beautiful interface and easy to use app is important to me.

### 5/5 — My favourite app on my phone

*2026-08-23, version 2.8.5*

Brilliant app. It’s easy, intuitive, & has everything you need. I spend so much time on here finding new things to watch, rating things I’ve watched, making lists. The only thing I’d request would be a “if you liked this, then you might enjoy this” feature to discover new content. The dev is awesome and puts out great updates too - none of them are a backwards step. Please never ruin this app, it’s gold.

### 5/5 — Great interface and resources!

*2026-08-22, version 2.8.5*

Being able to make my own collections makes it feel very customizable while also having the ability to just add what I've watched/read/played. I also checked to see if everything I could think of was trackable (I literally could not find anything that wasn't on the app). The interface is also very nice to use for iPhones specifically it feels very simple and natural while having details like episode airing and watched dates.

### 5/5 — Really good app

*2026-08-18*

It has free version of the application! The library is really vast and supports integration with other apps.

### 5/5 — Great app - if one change made would be amazing

*2026-08-11, version 2.8.5*

Please add the ability to mass edit your watchlist for movies/shows the same way you can for your collections!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-08-10, version 2.8.5*

Great app highly recommended it !
