## What is SereneReader?

Read without the noise. SereneReader is a calm, native RSS reader for people who
want to read — not manage notifications. No ads, no algorithms, no AI summaries you
didn't ask for. Just your feeds, in a quiet interface built around the text.

WORKS EVERYWHERE, IN SYNC
Native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, plus the web at serenereader.com.
Star an article on your phone and it's already starred on your Mac — reading state,
feeds, and folders sync across every device in real time.

CALM BY DESIGN
The interface feels like a quiet room. Articles open in a clean reading view, and a
focused mode strips everything away except the words. Adjust font size, line height,
and content width to taste. Hand-tuned themes — including the easy-on-the-eyes Jade
Night — make late-night reading comfortable.

READS WELL OFFLINE
Articles are cached on device. Read on the train, star and mark things as you go, and
every change syncs when you're back online.

YOUR READING, YOUR RULES
Organize feeds into folders, search everything, and browse a curated Discover catalog
to find new feeds when you want them. Import and export your subscriptions with OPML.
Nothing is pushed on you: no streaks, no badges, no "we noticed you haven't opened the
app." Full keyboard navigation on Mac and iPad; swipe actions on iPhone.

FREE TO START
Free to download and read. An optional Pro upgrade unlocks higher feed limits, every
theme, and API access — no credit card to get started, no trial that quietly locks you
out.

Sign in takes seconds: a code by email, or your Google, GitHub, or Apple account. No
passwords to remember.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-30

Choose how your articles look, read one folder at a time, and a quieter app by default:

- A new button at the top of your article list switches between three layouts: Comfortable, Compact, and Card.
- Compact drops the preview text under each headline, so more articles fit on screen.
- Card shows each article as a tile with its image, the feed's name, and how long ago it was published, fitting as many across as the screen has room for.
- On iPad and Mac, Card view spreads across the whole window instead of sitting in a narrow column.
- You can also pick a layout in Settings, under Appearance.
- Tap the title at the top of your Inbox to switch between All and any folder you've made, so you can read just one group of feeds without leaving the tab.
- On Mac, clicking a folder in the sidebar now shows only that folder's articles. The arrow beside it still opens and closes the folder.
- Unread counts are now hidden by default. Turn them back on any time in Settings, under Appearance.
- The filter button now appears filled whenever you're viewing something narrower than everything.
- The list you're reading no longer switches back to your Inbox when the connection drops and reconnects.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-07-27

Search results now behave like any other article list:

• Star, Read Later, and Mark Read now work on an article opened from search results instead of doing nothing.
• Swiping or right-clicking a search result to star it, save it for later, or mark it read now works too.
• Starring or saving an article now updates the matching search result right away, so the row shows its new state when you go back.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-07-13

Discover is easier to browse and easier to find:

• Discover now has its own iPhone tab immediately after Inbox.
• Categories now appear alphabetically in a two-column card grid, with a different example feed shown whenever the catalog refreshes.
• Opening a category now shows its feeds on a separate page with search, previews, and controls for adding sources to your feeds.
• Discover now uses “Add to Feeds” and “In Your Feeds” so it is clear that adding a source does not sign you up for a separate subscription.
• Feed icons in Discover and the Feeds tab now recover from interrupted loads and use the server's fallback icon URL instead of remaining as generic globes.
• The Discover tab can be hidden in Settings, which returns Discover to the Feeds screen.
• Article images no longer appear twice at the top when a feed includes its own header image.
• Switching from an open feed article to Inbox now shows the Inbox instead of keeping the article open.

Thanks for reading with us.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-07-11

A quiet round of fixes:

• Articles that come with a cover image now show it at the top of the reader, matching the thumbnail you see in the article list.
• Article lists, settings, and other app pages now use your selected theme's background color consistently.
• In focus mode on iPhone, the back button and article buttons now hide once you scroll down, and return when you scroll back to the top.

Thanks for reading with us.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-07-09

A quiet round of fixes and polish:

• Renaming a folder now moves it to its correct spot in the sidebar right away.
• Folders can no longer be dragged out of order by accident. Dragging works only in reorder mode, and the new order always saves.
• New articles that arrive while the app is open now slot into the list by date instead of appearing out of order at the top.
• Long titles in the article list and Discover now wrap to a second line instead of being cut short.
• The reading pane on iPad and Mac shows a clearer placeholder when no article is selected.
• VoiceOver now describes the Settings, clear-search, and Discover close buttons, and announces loading indicators.
