## What is SermonNotes?

A notebook built for the twenty minutes you actually have.

SermonNotes is for people who want to keep what they hear on a Sunday — not a general-purpose notes app with a church-shaped folder in it, but something built around the way a sermon actually arrives: fast, out of order, and worth more later than it seems at the time.

WRITE AT THE SPEED OF THE SERMON

Notes are made of blocks — a heading, a point, a quote, a scripture, a question you want to ask someone afterwards. Tap once to add one, and keep going. Nothing to format, nothing to fight, no cursor jumping to the wrong place as the preacher moves on.

SCRIPTURE, RIGHT IN YOUR NOTES

Choose the book, the chapter and the verses, and the passage is placed in your note, numbered and in full. Or open the Bible reader, find the chapter the preacher is in, and tap the verses you want to keep. Choose from several translations, including the ESV and the NIV. The passage stays in your note afterwards, so it's still there when you read it back on a train with no signal.

EVERY SERMON YOU'VE HEARD, STILL FINDABLE

Notes carry the date, the speaker and the series, so a year of Sundays is a list you can actually navigate rather than a pile. Search runs across all of it — the words in the sermon, the passage it was on, the person who preached it. The note you half-remember from March is one search away.

THE THREADS THROUGH EVERY SERMON

Themes gathers the ideas that keep coming back across your notes — grace, prayer, the Church, whatever your preachers keep returning to — and shows you every note on each one. Tap your weekly streak for your Journey: the parts of the Bible you have sat under, and the notes that marked a turn. A quiet record of attention, not a scoreboard.

SUNDAY'S NOTES, ON A WEDNESDAY

Each day, SermonNotes builds a short devotion out of something you already wrote — the passage, the line you thought worth writing down, and a question to sit with. Study turns a note into questions for a small group or for your own reading in the week. Nothing generic, nothing generated: your own notes, handed back to you at a distance where they read differently.

SHARE WITH THE PEOPLE YOU ACTUALLY SIT WITH

Notes are private by default. Share one and it goes to the friends you have accepted in the app — not to the public, not to strangers, not to an algorithm. They can leave a comment or an Amen, and ask for a copy if the notes would help them. You can stop sharing at any time.

BUILT FOR SUNDAY MORNING

- Home Screen widgets: today's devotion, and one tap to a new note
- Share text in from anywhere — a verse, a quote, an outline
- Bring your old notes across from Apple Notes, Notion, Evernote, Obsidian, Bear, Drafts or Google Keep
- Export any note, or your whole library, as PDF, Markdown or plain text

MADE TO BE READABLE

Set the reading text size independently of the rest of iOS, choose a warmer page tint if a white screen is hard going, and switch on a dyslexia-friendly typeface for the reading column. Dark Mode throughout.

FREE, AND PRIVATE

SermonNotes is free. There are no adverts, no subscriptions and no tracking of any kind. Nothing about what you write or read is measured. Your notes are never sold and are never used to train AI. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.

——

Scripture is provided through the YouVersion Platform and, for the ESV, the ESV API from Crossway. Each translation remains the copyright of its publisher, and the publisher's notice is shown alongside the text.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.5 — 2026-10-30

Two small fixes.

• When you swipe a note to delete it, the Delete button is now red, as it is across the iPhone.
• SermonNotes now tells you when a friend says yes to copying one of their notes. It's under Settings → Reminders, with the other friend notifications.

Thank you for taking your notes with SermonNotes. If anything looks wrong, write to hello@sermonnotes.uk.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-29

Recently Deleted, and a few smaller fixes.

• Deleted a note by mistake? It now waits in Settings → Your Notes → Recently Deleted for 30 days, where you can put it back. Notes deleted on any of your devices show there.
• You can now change your name in Settings → Account, and your friends see the new one.
• Passages: translations are listed A to Z, the verses you ticked stay ticked when you change translation, and a PDF now shows each passage's footnotes.
• When you add a service, the church name fills itself in as you type, as it does in a note.
• Help & About is back at the bottom of Settings, with Rate SermonNotes first.
• Smaller fixes to the welcome tour and the Themes search box, and the sign-in screen no longer flashes as the app opens.

Thank you for taking your notes with SermonNotes. If anything looks wrong, write to hello@sermonnotes.uk.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-10-28

A fix to keep your profile safe.

• Setting up SermonNotes on a new phone, or reinstalling it, on a poor connection could clear your username and church. That can't happen any more. If yours went missing, you can set them again in Settings → Account and Friends → Add a Friend.

Thank you for taking your notes with SermonNotes. If anything looks wrong, write to hello@sermonnotes.uk.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-10-26

Smaller fixes and clearer messages.

• Adding a friend from an invite link now shows their real name, and Send only works once it's confirmed. If you're offline, the sheet says so and you can try again.
• Changing your username no longer leaves your old one reserved, and stops cleanly if you're offline.
• Deleting your account asks you to confirm again if it's been a few minutes since you signed in.
• Adding, editing or removing a service updates its reminder straight away.
• Importing from Evernote no longer drops text after an attachment.

Thank you for taking your notes with SermonNotes. If anything looks wrong, write to hello@sermonnotes.uk.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-22

Quicker, steadier, and easier to read.

• Comparing notes with a friend now pairs notes on the same Bible passage. If your friend wrote on a different one, you'll see which.
• The Bible Reader and Compare open and scroll faster, especially in a large library.
• Button labels are easier to read in dark mode, and Continue with Google now looks like Google's own button.
• Some other minor bugs and improvements behind the scenes
