Many puzzles feel smoother and more inventive than ever with more and more interactions with puzzle elements that go beyond simply pointing and clicking. The atmosphere and signature Rusty Lake/Cube Escape surrealism is abundant in this one, and I think long time fans and those who live the lore of the series will appreciate the more in depth characterization of some of the faces we’ve come to know throughout the games. ### 5/5 — Good as always❤️ *2026-08-27* Could be harder and more non-linear. Im a little disappointed in the shorter version. I like the story. I agree with one of the other reviews that it can be hard to read the Text, so tiny some But I love that you added the notebook. I did find some of the puzzles good as always, they made sense. They weren’t so hard that you’d get frustrated. There was definitely a lot more point in click type gameplay. This installation . I was wondering if you would ever consider having a game explaining the church, or the mountains, or all the different areas in the community they live in & what else is going on around them! This game is not that. Sure it’s a good game, the music is fantastic and you can feel that we’ve progressed beyond just tap and play, but it doesn’t feel Rusty Lake like its predecessors. The dialogue is overbearing and clunky, lacking any subtext. The darkness feels gimmicky and shock baity. The art style feels desaturated and dull. You cant help but miss what Rusty Lake used to be. The plot has been beaten to death and I hope you won’t kick it again the next release. If any advice can be taken from this, it would be to work on a different story, with different characters and places, because frankly these games no longer feel as though they’re expanding the universe, and more as if they’re devaluing the all ready existing games. And please for the love of the fandom, let us solve your puzzles without being hit in the head about how to solve them. Let us be curious. I find your games relatively challenging, and this one was more paint by number. All i had to do was follow the list of chores given to me. Nothing for me to reflect on my own, try to figure out etc. Graphics and story are amazing as always. ### 3/5 — Classic rusty lake, but not long enough and a little too easy *2026-08-18* I’ve played every rusty lake game made including all of the cube escapes. I’ve been dying for another release and was so excited when this came out finally. My only real complaints are that it wasn’t long enough, some of the others like roots felt longer and like more bang for your buck. The puzzles were also much easier than they usually feel like. It just felt for how long we had to wait like the game didn’t fully deliver. Already can’t wait for the next game though, they can’t pump them out fast enough. ### 3/5 — More.
