It’s not like you get to purchase additional style packs. And worst they didn’t implement an obvious way for you to restore your in app purchase. Still this is my favourite one. ### 5/5 — Got me at Samba Funk. *2020-06-11* Love the jams. Make me want to play my guitar again. ### 5/5 — Best so far... *2020-05-27* I have most of the SB apps and this one is the best so far in terms of features and musicianship. It’s also one of the best in terms of genre for me (along with Blues 1). These apps are great for practice and just jamming, as over the years they have been developed into very usable tools with technical stability, high quality sound - and great musicianship. For this particular app, the IAP is worth the money, opening up a good range of variants in this genre. The musicianship is superb as is the sound quality. The app and IAP can be added to other devices with the same Apple ID, and you can reinstall everything if you delete the app for some reason (as I did) - there is no button yet for reinstating purchases (that’s coming I am told) so just go through the process as when you first downloaded and added the IAP - Apple will not charge again, even though it looks like it wants to charge when you first start the IAP process (just hit the button and it recognises your ID as having already purchased). Other than that, great communication with the developer - they take the time to explain things if you have a problem and make you feel like you are part of the process, not just a source of cash. 5 well-earned stars. ### 4/5 — Great. *2020-05-24* Some of the guitar work overdone, good playing but I would prefer not so busy, otherwise very good. The quality of playing and range of the samples is phenomenal, as is the value for money. It’s not only a great practice tool, but it’s inspirational too. I’ve had it less than 4 hours and I’ve already started 3 new songs. This will keep me busy for weeks- but I’m very excited by what UK Music may bring us next. One note- if you downloaded for free because you had bought other packs,most of the style packs become available by clicking on the lock symbol as a one off IAP. This app does not give me an option to do either. I would like more input from this developer. I hope the old apps get the new features too! ### 5/5 — Amazing Creative Toolkit *2020-04-23* I have long been a big fan of the Session Band series, mostly using the SB Jazz apps for practice workout purposes. I downloaded this one to my phone while out for a walk, and within 5 minutes found myself running back home to record the ideas which had spontaneously sounded in my head while entering random chords into the app and strolling along listening to these guys playing. A wonderful piece of work! ### 4/5 — Great but ... *2020-04-21* A great new release, but I’ve noticed an annoying issue happening with every SessionBand app since it’s been updated : it’s impossible to load a third-party app (i.e. a piano or a rhodes) without crashing SessionBand. Probably an audio conflict? Second point, it would be really great if you redesigned the chord editing part/whole interface because it is very, very, too complicated, non intuitive and long. iReal does a lot better when it comes to editing chord grids. Il faut le redémarrer - avec iPhone X et plus pas pratique de modifier le type de batterie sans toucher la barre retour d’iPhone qui revient systématiquement au début. Ça serait bien de pouvoir positionner verticalement et horizontalement. La c’est uniquement en horizontal. ### 4/5 — Great, but… *2024-12-24* …some chords I miss (f.ex. 7#11)! ### 4/5 — Brilliant though a lil ambitious *2024-12-13* At the time of writing I was not able to get the sample pack because the link is broken, leading to a not found on Sample loops.com. That’s a shame because it’s a broken workflow, I can work in the app and lay out some awesome chord progressions but frustratingly I can’t take this much further and continue working in my DAW because the link to buy the sample packs is broken. Otherwise I guess I’m digging this app, it seems very novel and really speaks to me as a musician. I’m not a massive fan of all of the A.I generative stuff and think it is really neat to find such a powerful app with the human touch recorded by very competent musicians. I guess I will play along with the ample sounds in this app and then buy the other 2 apps when I care for more. I think it’s kinda funny this thing has so many apps lol, would have been nice to get one app so I can get a flavour of the jazz series from the one app and buy if I like the demos. This could get expensive lol with all these apps and then all the sample packs, it’s already got me thinking more creatively about chord selections in a piece I am working on so it is most likely worth it in the end. I will summarise by saying that the quality of the music here is just world class and very inspiring. ### 4/5 — Great for trying new ideas *2024-01-25* I use it when I’m trying to create ideas quickly. It helps me get a sense of flow, and what chords progressions work best. It’s most helpful when I try the progressions in the other versions and compare the different variations. ### 4/5 — Fantastic app BUT *2021-03-16* Please make it possible for the last ending chord to last longer.. it only allows for a “ringing out” for one measure and it sounds too abrupt for a nice finish.. Also, please make it possible to make a “playlist” so that you can trigger one song to start after the current one finishes (like the iReal pro app) .. currently you have to load the next song and it is not fluid at all for changing songs.. However, there is a huge problem as of late. Since upgrading my iPhone to the latest IOS 16, the export audio function to files no longer works, this makes all the session pack apps almost useless for me. I have emailed their customer support regarding the issue, and they have replied to inform me that they are aware of the issue and a fix update will soon be rolled out across all their app range. As soon as the update is live, I will remove the negative points from this review, since other than this, the app range functionality and quality is superb :) ### 5/5 — Incredibly useful *2021-12-29* I have been using SessionBand apps to produce quick music beds for video edits for years and it’s always been amazing how quickly I can produce great sounding background tracks. The demos sound great out of the box. Entering your own chords and modifying drums are straightforward. You can’t give the bass player a line to play though, the band just do what they do. The mixer section is awesome and you can record auto mix! Very cool feature. Only drawback you only see 4 bars on the timeline - am I missing something? Recommended. ### 5/5 — Best SessionBand app to date! *2020-08-21* The quality of both of these Soul volumes is fantastic. I am hoping for another jazz volume on this level. Very happy to see a simple triad added as well as the minor +5, although they took away the minor with major 7. Still could use some more 7th chord options. I most often miss having a dominant 7 with sharp 5 only. Also do prefer the 13th chord (from the jazz versions) as the straight dominant voicing can sound a little square. If slash chords could be implemented that would be even better. There is no way to get a sound like Bb/Ab for instance.
