## What is SessionBell?

Leave your computer freely.

Your local AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex and more) now run for long stretches, needing only the occasional approval or nudge. SessionBell puts that on your iPhone — so you can step away and still stay in control:

• Rings only when it should — a task is waiting for input, has finished, or is asking to run a command. Delivered straight to your Lock Screen. Idle detection stays quiet while you're at your desk.
• Every machine, one panel — a live Lock Screen view of all your Macs and Windows PCs: waiting / running / done, ticking in real time, no unlock.
• Approve with one tap — allow or deny a command right on the Lock Screen card. No need to walk back to your computer.
• Steer and see the terminal — send the next instruction to a session, watch real terminal output, even start a new session remotely.
• Usage at a glance — this week's limits and premium-model usage, official numbers.

Works with a free desktop companion for Mac and Windows — one command to pair after install.

SessionBell is MIT-licensed open source, fully auditable and self-hostable — your data can flow through your own server only. Privacy by design: only project names, machine names, and status summaries are sent, never your source files. No ads, no tracking.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-09-22

Cursor support (macOS): Agent tasks in the Cursor editor show up next to Claude Code and Codex on the Tasks tab and the Lock Screen panel — you're pinged when a task starts, finishes, or needs approval; Progress shows the whole conversation; shell commands can be approved from the Lock Screen; and a reply from the phone after a task finishes is sent to Cursor as the next message. Nothing to set up on the Mac.
Each task now shows the model it is running on, e.g. "Cursor · grok-4.6" or "Claude · fable-5-1".
New Cursor icon on task rows and Lock Screen cards.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-21

Codex support (macOS): Codex desktop tasks show up next to Claude Code on the Tasks tab and the Lock Screen panel — running, done, or waiting for you — with per-session token counts. Shared CLI sessions can be driven from the phone: approve commands, answer questions, send follow-ups, start new tasks, and see your official quota. The new-task screen lets you pick Claude or Codex.
Tasks and Lock Screen cards show which agent is running.
On the Mac: remotely started sessions find a working Claude command whether it was installed natively or via npm; a command sent from the phone is delivered exactly once; a Mac waking from sleep syncs immediately.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-20

Task detail, rebuilt: switch between Progress and Terminal at the top. Progress shows the whole conversation — every prompt you gave, every reply from Claude, every tool call — and keeps growing while the task runs; Terminal is the raw screen. One input bar for both.
New welcome screen that says what the app does for you, in the app's own look.
Multi-device: Settings › Add another phone or iPad — scan or type 6 digits to join the same space; the welcome screen can join an existing space too.
Faster: the phone connects within seconds after the install command finishes on the Mac, the terminal answers within 5 s, and a Mac that wakes from sleep syncs right away.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-09

New setup: open the app, say whether you're at your Mac, paste one line into Terminal on the Mac — paired. No installer download, no long pairing code.
Redesigned UI: task cards show the prompt you gave Claude; the Lock Screen card now shows 5-hour and weekly usage; dark mode tuned separately.
Settings: Add another Mac, Send Feedback, Reset and Start Over.
Fixes: occasional duplicate delivery of phone commands, system messages shown as task names, the notification prompt no longer covers the first screen.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-08

• No invite code needed: tap Get Started and you have your own space right away
• Try the demo first: see the task panel before you connect a Mac
• Pairing is stored in iCloud Keychain, so a new iPhone or a reinstall picks up where you left off
• English UI that follows your device language
• Notification titles now follow your phone's language (re-run the install script on your Mac to update the hook)
