### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2026-08-10*

This app helped me organize and track my workouts much faster than before. The AI functionality is also very useful as it uses past workouts and sets to recommend the weight you should do for the next set. I’ve never used an app like this, as it is built for gym enthusiasts by a gym enthusiast.

### 5/5 — Great for beginners!

*2026-06-07*

awesome app! i’m weak and suck at lifting but this app helped!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-25

Setly used to pick your next weight by drawing a line through your recent estimated maxes. That line only looks backwards, and it ignored the thing you tell it on every set: how many reps you had left. A set with three reps in the tank and the same set taken to failure gave you the same prediction. They are not the same set.

Your next weight now comes from what you actually lifted last time, moved by how hard that session was and how much you have progressed since. Setly used to assume adding a rep is worth the same amount of weight for everybody on every exercise. It is not. Some people, and some lifts, give up reps far faster than others as the weight goes on, and Setly now learns that from your own sets. The number you get is fitted to you rather than to an average lifter.

You also get told what to expect from the number. Something like "185 lbs, you should get about 9 with 2 left." If you know you have more in you today, that is worth knowing before the set rather than after, and it is exactly the disagreement Setly learns from. The drop between your straight sets is fitted the same way, so the app stops cutting your weight harder than your own training says it needs to.

Deloads stay out of it now. A deload is deliberately light, and those weeks were dragging your next prediction down as though you had gotten weaker. Last Time still shows them, since that one just reports what you did.

Time off is no longer mistaken for progress. Two weeks away used to come back asking for more weight than you had ever lifted. Setly holds your weight steady after a real break instead.

Your first day is a workout, not a test. Anyone new to lifting used to be stuck on an orientation screen, testing lifts they had never done to near failure before they could train, and that first day was logged as rest. Setting your starting weights is now an offer under your session. Take it whenever you like, or never, and it no longer costs you the workout.

The first time you log a movement Setly has never seen, it tells you how to pick a weight instead of handing you an empty box.

Settings is a short list again.

Everything you set once and never touch again now sits one tap down under Profile, Privacy and Notifications, and the things you come back to stay on the first screen. Privacy is one screen instead of two halves, so what Setly shares about you has one answer in one place. The app version is at the bottom, the first thing to hand over when something goes wrong.

Tips now retire for good when you do the thing they point at, rather than when you tap the x. The x puts one away for a week, so a tip you swiped past mid-workout gets another chance, and Settings has a "Show tips again". The Predict and Calendar tabs are no longer blank on day one either.

Bug fixes:
  - Some starting weights you set during onboarding were never saved, though the screen said they were
  - New exercises fell back to a generic guess instead of learning from the training you already had
  - Lifters who train at the same weight week after week got the worst predictions
  - The rest days shown on Predict were counting workouts, not days
  - The projection chart could come up blank, or disagree with the number above it
  - Unpairing a superset left your saved workout still showing them paired
  - Tapping a finished lift inside a superset bounced you straight back out of it
  - Deleting the back work from a Chest & Back day still saved it as Chest & Back
  - A copied day kept the name it came with even after you changed what it trains
  - The same notification could arrive two or three times, and the morning ones landed at once
  - Close grip and wide grip rows were offered against each other's slots
  - On smaller phones, the logging screen ran off the bottom, taking Finish exercise early with it
  - The keyboard covered the field you were typing in when naming a split, editing rep ranges, sending feedback, and in the Account and Friends forms

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-10

Supersets: pair two exercises and train them back to back. Open Reorder during a workout, swipe an upcoming exercise left, and tap Superset to pair it with the one below. You get one screen for both lifts, and logging a set hands you straight to the partner, so there is no rest in between. Progress counts rounds instead of sets, and each lift keeps its own weight suggestion, rep range, history, and notes. Uneven pairings work, so four sets of one and three of the other is fine. Your summary, the calendar and your CSV export all show it as a superset.

Drop sets: after you log a set, tap "+ Add drop" and Setly suggests a weight about 20% lighter, rounded to something the bar or the stack can actually make. Add as many drops as you took. There is no reps in reserve question, since a drop is taken to or near failure. On assisted pull ups and dips, dropping the weight means taking more help, and the suggestion accounts for that.

Drops stay out of your numbers: a drop is deliberately lighter than the set it came off, so counting it as a set of its own would read a harder session as an easier one.
Drops are kept out of your set count, average and top weight, estimated 1RM and next session's suggested weight. They are still recorded in full everywhere you look back at what you did.

Friend notifications: you now hear when someone sends you a friend request, and when a request you sent gets accepted. Tapping the notification opens Setly right where it belongs, even from cold, and the app icon badges how many are waiting. Declining a request sends nothing.

Know when a friend passes you: if a friend's estimated 1RM goes past yours on a lift you both track, you hear about it. It fires on the crossing itself, waits for a confident estimate on both sides, and is capped at once per lift per friend per week. Turning off "Show 1RM" in your privacy settings takes you out of it in both directions.

Training notifications beyond the daily reminder: Setly can now tell you when you missed a workout, when your streak is about to break while there is still a weekend to save it, when you left a workout open ninety minutes ago, when a deload is due, and when you have not weighed in for two weeks. There is a Sunday recap too, off by default.
All of it sits under a new Notifications section in Settings with a switch for each one.

Back and Undo are separate now: back moves back one screen and leaves your sets alone, and Undo is its own button, next to the set dots it acts on. Stepping back to look at an earlier lift no longer costs you the sets you logged getting there, and moving forward picks up where you left off.

Workouts are dated by when you started them: start at 11pm and rack the last set after midnight and the whole session used to land on the next day. It now belongs to the day you would call it.

Bug fixes:
    - Adding an exercise partway through a workout could make Back skip past whole exercises, and sets you had logged could vanish
    - Undo removed the wrong set if you did the same lift twice in one workout
    - Changing an exercise after logging sets against it left those sets in your saved workout
    - Exiting and deleting a workout's progress hid the sets instead of deleting them, so they still turned up in an export
    - The exercise you are standing on could not be moved in the reorder sheet
    - Evening sessions counted toward the wrong training week, which could leave a hole in your streak
    - Exercise history listed evening sessions under the next day
    - Workouts logged by tapping a date on the Calendar tab never reached your friends
    - An exercise added from the logging screen did not count toward the workout's name, so adding abs to a Legs day stayed "Legs"
    - Pro could read as Free after a refresh, or after a launch where the store could not be reached
    - The end of a free trial was never announced

### 1.5.0 — 2026-07-22

Build your own split: create custom training days from scratch. Add the muscles you want, and the app drops in their usual movements as a starting point, then reorder them freely, adjust sets per movement, add anything from the 20 movement categories, or pin a specific exercise so it comes up first every session. Days name themselves from the muscles you train most, and you can drop them anywhere in your week. A sets per week readout shows how your split lands across muscle groups. Building your own days is a Pro feature.

Save and switch between splits: keep more than one split around and swap your whole week over to any of them whenever you want. Build a split, name it, and it lands in a new My Splits screen. Tap a saved split to switch to it, long-press to delete. A custom split you are already running keeps working even if your subscription lapses.

Edit a day in your split for good: change a day once instead of adjusting it every session. Tap a day in the schedule editor and choose "Edit this day" to open it with its movements and sets already filled in. The edit applies to that day only, so editing Tuesday's Push leaves Friday's Push alone.

One place to set up your whole week: your split and your week layout now live on a single Schedule screen, opened from the Log tab. All seven days appear Monday to Sunday with rest days as real draggable rows, so you can move anything. Picking a new split lays your week out automatically, spaced so the session that needs the most recovery lands before your longest rest gap.

Edit your session straight from the Log tab: today's session is now editable by default, with no Customize mode to enter first. Drag to reorder, swipe to delete, adjust sets with plus and minus, and add exercises, all inline.

Friend profiles, redesigned: every tab was reworked to match the rest of the app. The header carries an at-a-glance activity strip (workouts, sessions per week, week streak), Workouts expand into a clean per-exercise breakdown, the 1RM tab shows ranked cards using the same blended estimate as your own Stats screen, and Charts plot an interactive estimated 1RM trend per lift. You can also load older workouts to scroll back through their full shared history.

Smarter between-set weight drops: when your last set gets hard, the weight suggested for the next set now scales to what is on the bar instead of moving by a flat increment. Heavy lifts get a real drop, and light lifts get a small one, sized to buy back the capacity you lost to fatigue. Low-rep strength work stays heavy on purpose.

More accurate progress trends: predictions and trend lines now track the estimated 1RM of your top set each session instead of the average of every set, so logging a warmup or a back-off set no longer drags your trend down and shows a decline that isn't real.

14-day free trial: new lifters can try Pro free for 14 days, no card required.

Bug fixes:
  - Opening the Calendar tab (or any tab other than Log) could crash the app
  - Local free accounts had no way to reach account setup or sign in from Settings
  - The bodyweight history list and the Stats 1RM list would stick or ignore swipes instead of scrolling
  - Tapping the bodyweight chart required landing precisely on a tiny dot; a tap anywhere near the line now selects the nearest point
  - A friend's weight chart showed invalid dates, labeled kg values as pounds, and counted zero-weight bodyweight sets in their 1RM
  - Coaching notes quoted weights in pounds regardless of your kg/lb setting
  - Two of your days could not share a name (an A/B pair) without hitting a false error
  - Editing a repeated day produced a second identically named card in My Days
  - The rest-day focus picker could list the same day twice

### 1.4.0 — 2026-06-06

Custom exercises: create your own exercises from Settings or directly during a workout. Add a name, movement category, and rep range, and the exercise shows up everywhere
in the app alongside the built-in library. Edit or delete it anytime from Settings.

Per-exercise notes: a notes field now appears while logging sets. Notes stick to the exercise across sessions. This is a good place to track setup cues, grip width, machine
adjustments, or anything worth remembering next time.

Smarter 1RM estimates: the 1RM tab now factors in related movements, not just direct sets on the primary lift. Incline press, dumbbell press, and machine press all inform
your bench estimate, weighted by how closely each exercise transfers. More recent sessions carry significantly more weight than older ones, and confidence reflects how
consistent the estimates are across exercises.

Session resume: reopening the app after force-quitting mid-session now drops you straight back into the workout instead of leaving you on the home screen with a banner.

Workout summary before finishing: tapping Finish Workout now shows a full summary of what you logged before committing. Swipe back or tap the back button if you hit it by
  accident.

Exercise reordering improvements: swipe any upcoming exercise in the reorder sheet to delete it from the remaining queue. The exercise list scrolls when there are more
exercises than fit the screen, with the Done button always visible.

Training reminders: set a daily notification for your scheduled training days -- morning, midday, or evening. Available during onboarding and in Settings under Preferences.

Remove friend: a remove button now appears in the top right corner of any friend's profile.

Bug fixes:
  - New installs on devices that previously had a Pro subscriber could incorrectly show as Pro before the new account's identity was confirmed
  - Completing a session would briefly flash the resume banner for the just-finished session
  - Pressing Back on the exercise picker after logging sets would silently abandon the session instead of showing the exit prompt
  - Accepting a friend request did not immediately update the friends list
  - Pro access granted via the RevenueCat dashboard was not picked up until the next sign-out and sign-in
  - Expired trials and cancelled plans were still showing as Pro due to a stale local cache entry surviving the server confirmation

### 1.3.0 — 2026-06-02

Smarter weight suggestions (Pro): the opening weight recommendation now learns from your first set each session, not an average across all sets. Earlier sets are better predictors of what you can open with next time since later sets carry fatigue. Warmup loggers are handled automatically: if your first set was clearly a warmup, the top set of the session is used instead.

Training logic now applies between sessions too: if your first set was too light or too heavy last time, the suggestion adjusts accordingly. The same logic as the in-session coaching notes, just tuned for the fact that you are starting fresh.

Reorder and add exercises mid-workout: drag to rearrange upcoming exercises on the fly, or add an exercise and slot it anywhere in the remaining order.

Workout complete screen redesigned: now shows a full stats strip and a per-exercise card with top weight, volume, and a set-by-set breakdown.

Duration tracking: workouts now track how long they take. Duration is shown on the session complete screen, workout summary, calendar, and session detail.

Weekly training strip: tap any training day to mark it as a rest day for that date.

Baseline screen: added a live search bar to the exercise picker and a delete button per exercise.

Bug fixes:
  - Sessions were appearing on the wrong calendar day for users outside UTC
  - A workout logged late at night would show as "completed today" the following morning
  - Workout duration showed wrong or negative values for non-UTC users
  - Weight log and stats date labels showed the wrong day for entries near midnight
  - Completing a session would briefly show the resume banner for the just-finished session
  - Pressing Back on the exercise picker after logging sets would silently abandon the session
  - The Delete button on a paused workout now asks for confirmation before discarding progress
  - Friend requests sent via QR, username search, or deep link were missing a status field and never appeared
  - Accepting a friend request now immediately refreshes the friends list
  - The strength tab on a friend's profile now respects your lbs/kg preference
