## What is Sewciable?

We're making the sewing & fibre crafts community feel like a community again.

Sewciable is built different, on purpose. We capture the magic of the early days of blogs and social media - before the algorithms, before the popularity contest and before you became the product. This is a social media platform thoughtfully made for the sewing and fibre crafts community that prioritises connection over clout, learning over likes, and community over celebrities.

We've left out all the stuff that makes social media toxic, and kept all the things that help grow real community.

We promise: A chronological feed, No Algorithms and absolutely No Ads. Hashtags that work and sharing of links anywhere you want. We tell you when you've seen everything new and we don't trap you here.

Sewciable is for people who want to share what they're working on, make friends, learn from others, share knowledge and actually enjoy social media again. No viral drama, no engagement bait — just makers being makers. Welcome to a peaceful corner of the internet, where you can connect at your own pace.

There are no ads and we never sell your data — your membership subscription fee is what funds the app, so you are never the product.

How can we promise that you'll never see an ad? Never have your data sold? Never be manipulated by an algorithm? Easy. While other social media channels are funded by selling your attention and your data to advertisers, Sewciable is funded by its members. When something is free it's because you are the product — at Sewciable you are never the product. You're part of a real community.

### 5/5 — All the good sewing content

*2026-08-20*

It’s what I wanted but no longer got from Instagram- seeing people’s makes, sewing tips, and connecting with other makers. Even better no ad, no shorts, no algorithm telling me what I “want”. A great community for makers to share and connect.

### 5/5 — Better than Instagram

*2026-08-18*

So much better than Instagram. This app is the old school Instagram - with all the features I loved - but now it’s all the sewing world. I love the hashtags and being able to put a link in the descriptions.

### 5/5 — At last!

*2026-08-15*

At last a place that is not full of ads and algorithms! I get to see what I’ve chosen, or explore new content I choose. It is a warm and friendly place, and it is worth every penny to keep it that way.

### 5/5 — Sewist community

*2026-08-12*

I love being part of this community. Lots of inspiration and support, tutorials to help you with techniques and great place to share your makes and be encouraged.

### 5/5 — Love this sew much!

*2026-08-11*

I love this app. It feels like stepping back in time 15 years to when we could see everything our sewing friends posted without interruption from ads or surly content, but with a few upgrades like the ability to directly add links and to create tutorials right within the app!

### 5/5 — Most excellent

*2026-08-10*

This app is absolutely excellent for those who love sewing! It feels like a real community.

### 5/5 — Such a great app for the sewing community!

*2026-07-25*

I just love this app, it’s dedicated to the sewing and making community and it’s such a nice space to be in. I love seeing people’s projects, it currently feels really wholesome and user led since there are no ads or algorithm (please stay that way!). They have already made significant useful updates and constantly improving based on feedback. I love it, and if you’re into sewing and making things with fibres and fabrics then this app is for you!

### 5/5 — Worth Every Penny

*2026-07-24*

Fantastic app! The user interface is great! No algorithms, just organic community building. Work the $2 a month to get away from social media apps with their own agendas.

### 5/5 — A safe and warm sewing community

*2026-07-20*

I’m new to sewing, and I was looking for sewing apps. I signed up for the trial to try the app out and Im enjoying it so much! I like that there’s a small subscription fee to ensure the community is safe and authentic. Plus, it’s important to have majority female spaces, especially when posting pictures of ourselves in the garments we sew. Everyone is so nice and passionate about their craft. Scrolling through the explore page provides plenty of inspiration and the tutorials people make are wonderful especially for a beginner sewist. I hope the community continues to thrive!

### 1/5 — No for me

*2026-07-12*

There’s been a lot a controversy around the founder of this app. I am editing my message here: the first version said that I was not ok with supporting an homophobic organisation. The founder’s answer is that World Vision Aus is different from World Vision USA. I apologise for confusing the two. But I am not changing my note here, because the founder’s answer on Instagram was focused solely on how hurt she was. Not a word for the LGBTqia+ community. She also said that she is “politically neutral”. There is no such thing. If you let the wolves and the sheep in, you’re siding with the wolves. “Political neutrality” is an agenda too and a very violent one. Social media is already a bad place and I won’t put more of my money into a place that does not align with my values and why I decided to not keep my paid subscription, as it is my right. Framing it as “character assassinations” is disingenuous.

**Developer response:** Hi Lismel,
I am not a religious fundamentalist – and I have not donated to World Vision USA. I was unaware of their existence, unaware of their non inclusive practices, and unaware of their lawsuits. When I found out about World Vision USA a few days ago I was horrified because what they were doing was repulsive and absurd.
I donate to World Vision Australia which is a separate organisation (and the only one i was aware before a few days ago) because they are the first responders to disasters in the Asia Pacific Region where i live.
I started donating to World Vision Australia in 2015 when there was a massive earthquake in Nepal and they were the first on the ground providing assistance.
World Vision Australia is well known for being committed to inclusivity, and the type of behaviours you are describing are illegal in Australia.
I do not support discrimination and never have. Everyone is welcome on Sewcial.
In addition Sewcial does not donate to any charities or organisations.
The person who made a post about me on Instagram was operating under a misunderstanding about the organisation I donated to, based on a reddit post and unverified information, all of which is factually incorrect.
Please do appropriate fact checking before posting character assassinations on the internet.
