Especially that music! As a kid the whole family would sit around the NES and play together. (with one person person controlling the game and everyone making suggestion and voting on next steps.) The difference between clicking on the thing you’re trying for and clicking on nothing is a fraction of a fingertip and it’s frustrating. Maybe it’s more playable with a stylus, but honestly who carries those for their phones? I’m using an XS and it’s difficult, I pity the people who tried to play this on the iPhone 6. ### 5/5 — Amazing! Wonderful remake! *2017-01-05, version 1.2* Not only does this game deliver but it also brings back the old soundtrack as an option. You even have the option to switch to the original user interface. The screen would begin for a minute and then turn black! I thought it may need more space so I deleted all unnecessary apps on my phone. It STILL didn’t work! CPU temp is around 90 degrees, sometimes it lifts to 97 degrees while running it. ### 1/5 — Shadowgate. *2021-05-04, version 1.2* I can’t play this game the way it’s set up. It ridiculous how many steps are involved when you try to do the simplest thing. I’ve tried several times and got too frustrated and uninstalled it. I’d like a refund. I know I won’t get it. It’s not worth the $2.99 that I paid. The original game seems so prehistoric now, but was so much easier to play. Big disappointment. I’m also pretty sure no one will see this review. It has everything you could possibly want.. point and click, rpg, puzzles, monsters, great story that I’m actually interested in and a really cool hint interface via a cheeky skull. Just tricky enough without being impossible. And I have had no crash issues whatsoever. I could go on and on but I need to immerse myself back into the world of Shadowgate. Whilst sheltering in place I ran across an old NES let’s play video of Shadowgate - I thought to myself “Wouldn’t it be cool if someone did a complete remake of Shadowgate with updated graphics and BGM?” So after a quick search my mind was blown. This is exactly what I was hoping for! I’m 1hr deep into this game and having a blast. Hats off to the team for creating the atmosphere Shadowgate always deserved. If you’re new to Shadowgate and have tried games with similar mechanics (Myst, etc.) give this one a try. It’s the best $3 I’ve spent all month. ### 5/5 — A Classic Reborn *2019-05-05, version 1.2* This is the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) classic brought back to life with new elements. You are to traverse the castle Shadowgate to stop a Warlock from bringing forth a great evil. It’s a great point and click adventure. Was trying to get a good quest point n click adventure reminiscence of the old days, this one is a great port of the classic to the iPhone. Lots of gameplay, difficult puzzles and traps, and overall a lot of fun.
