## What is Shansu Books?

Shansu Books is the official reading app of books.shansu.com. The English library holds 169 classics from Project Gutenberg's public-domain collection: 139 novels and 30 short-story collections. We picked each book by hand, split it into clean chapters and re-typeset it, keeping the italics and centered lines. Every book has new cover art.

Start with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Frankenstein, Dracula, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Count of Monte Cristo, A Tale of Two Cities, Treasure Island, The Time Machine or The Great Gatsby, and browse mysteries, romance, science fiction, horror, adventure and more.

Turns Like Real Paper
Page curl is the default: the paper folds, curls and settles under your finger. Prefer something simpler? Choose Slide Over, Slide, Scroll or None.

Read Your Way
Adjust brightness and the Warm Light tint, text size, line and paragraph spacing, four paper backgrounds, dark mode, and left-hand or right-hand tap zones at any time. Long-press text to copy, share, bookmark it with a note, or search within the book.

Open and Read
The Store opens on charts and picks. A book's page shows its rating, length and last update at a glance; tap Start Reading. Chapters are cached for offline reading, so you can keep going without a signal.

Pick Up on Any Device
One account works on the website and in the app. Sign up with just an email address. After you verify it, every chapter is readable, whole books download for offline reading, and you can rate books. Your Library and reading progress sync between signed-in devices.

Your Own Books Too
Open a TXT file from the Files app with "Open With" and it lands in your Library. Big files open on the first chapter right away while the rest is indexed in the background. On first launch your Library holds "A Letter from Shansu Books", a local TXT that is our letter to readers.

Made for iPad and Foldables
Turn iPad sideways and it becomes a two-page spread, with a gutter at the spine and a faint fold line; the page curl turns around the spine. In portrait it is a single page with wider margins, and text is sized for the big screen.
On iPhone Duo, unfold it for a two-page spread with the crease as the spine. Half-fold it into book posture and it still reads as two pages. Close it and the outer screen picks up from the right-hand page with the same line breaks.

Free, with no in-app purchases.
