## What is Shantideva?

This App displays one verse a day from Shantideva's text "Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior" (Bodhisattvacharyavatara) and allows to read through the entire text. "Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior" is an outstandingly practical and inspiring Buddhist text that covers all the aspects of the Buddhist path. Shantideva was a great Indian Buddhist master who lived during the 8th century CE. 

Two of his texts survive - the Bodhicharyavatara (the text that is displayed in this app) and the Shikshasamuccaya ("Compendium of Trainings"). Both texts are still used to the present day by and especially the Bodhicharyavatara is one of the most cherished and most frequently taught texts in the Tibetan tradition.

Just one verse of Shantideva is a great way to take my mind off worrying doom-scrolling and upsetting news and putting things onto a larger and more helpful perspective.  I have this App on both my iPhone and iPad, so it's easy to access. Instant teaching, whether it's the daily verse or more. Dharma at your fingertips! 🪷🪷🪷

It’s great to have a verse in a notification reach day. The option to have various languages is much appreciated. Personally I use the English and Sanskrit. I noticed that the Chinese translation isn’t so accurate, but it’s not by the Berzin Archives so it shouldn’t be taken as a reason not to use this app.
