## What is Shard?

Shard is a fast, lightweight capture app for ideas that don’t belong in your head.

It’s designed for the moments when something matters, but not enough to open a full notes app, decide where it lives, or break your flow. You open Shard, capture the thought, and move on.

Every note starts as a shard — a short, flexible piece of information that stays in your inbox until you decide what to do with it. Export it to Notion, Obsidian, or your existing system, then archive it to keep your space clear. No clutter. No mental overhead.

Shard is offline-first, instant to open, and built around the idea of Inbox Zero for notes. Your inbox shows only what still needs attention. Everything else stays safely archived for a while, just in case.

It’s not a replacement for your knowledge base.
It’s the missing layer before it.
