Lots of different places to explore and lots of storyline without too much unnecessary dialogue. Good voice acting and nothing irritating about it.. Fun retro style point and click with very dark notes. Negatives Objects tend to find their place very quickly within the place they are used so little backwards and forwards but with that, no real challenge to be found. Arguably one or two ‘puzzles’ to solve with so much heavy hinting to ensure the idiots playing don’t miss anything. Linear playing style until the very end so different endings can be achieved just by replaying the final moments. Worth a try 100% and the storyline and length is good enough to keep going. Maybe next time give us point and click fans a bit of credit.. don’t worry we enjoy using an object on every single thing in every scene available over and over. Every game since has been enjoyable. Shardlight has a good post apocalyptic theme and you really get swept up in the story. You need this file. Anyways the other thing thats supposed to happen is this man Clem and he’s supposed to talk to you about calligraphy witch doesn’t happen. But this looks and plays as if Dave Gilbert's mom forced him to publish a game by his little cousin. The storyline is very odd and internally inconsistent. Why and how would survivors of nuclear war adopt Williamsburg colonial dress? Why do all the cars look like they are from the 1930s? The puzzles are either incomprehensible or blatantly obvious. The first Wadjet game I was not instantly addicted to. I have to force myself to play it to get my $5 worth. Avoid. ### 2/5 — I wanted to like this game *2021-03-08, version 1.1.0* The mechanics and voice acting and art is top notch! My issue is the same of that of a lot of modern day point and click games.The character just seems bored like they don’t want to be in the game and they are unwilling to even think about performing any actions that might be interesting. Just imagine some snobby pretty goody two shoes that doesn’t like getting her hands dirty and that’s the protagonist. In the game she’s a mechanic, but you wouldn’t know that playing her. Pepper in the ham fisted political propaganda of our current year and there you go. There is definitely a demographic for a game like this, and they obviously worked really hard at flushing out this world, the art is also amazing! That’s why it’s so disappointing these days to play the retro style adventure game only to be smacked with the vapid boring mindset of a modern-day mary sue protagonist.This game is supposed to be post apocalyptic yet everyone acts like they need to be polite to each other. Just imagine the apocalypse happened in the only ones that survived are the students at UC Berkeley and you pretty much have this game. ### 2/5 — stuck *2019-08-23* Where I need to find a corpse for the reaper. Komplett in Englisch, was aber okay ist. Schlimm sind aber die regelmäßigen Abstürze! Plötzlich erscheint eine Fehlermeldung und die App wird geschlossen. Manchmal funktioniert auch das Inventar plötzlich an einem Ort nicht mehr - was (sofern man zuvor nicht gespeichert hat) dazu führt, dass das Spiel nicht mehr spielbar ist (da man manche Gegenstände nicht mehr verwenden kann). Kurz: Viel Potential, aber noch voller Fehler und Bugs. Die anderen Spiele des Entwicklers waren ausgereifter (übrigens auch sehr zu empfehlen). But for me, the game’s best moment was a little exploration of the distinction between curing a disease and managing it. ### 5/5 — Post Apocalyptic Adventure *2020-05-10, version 1.1.0* Definitely one of the darker games I’ve played recently. Technobabylon is still my favorite (along with Whispers of a Machine), but I enjoyed it. As one reviewer pointed out, it definitely reminds you of the current COVID-19 situation, but also very much different. I enjoyed Amy Wellard’s story and the environment in which she is placed in. One of my complaints, although I won’t take a star off, is that sometimes it felt like the Examine vs Touch an object was too similar or lazy writing. Sometimes they’re both the same. This is the first point and click I’ve felt this way with. Puzzles are easy (there’s a somewhat difficult one near the beginning) and story is easy to understand. The voice acting is superb. Overall, an enjoyable game, but there isn’t any special features besides point and click; you’d know what I’m talking about if you’ve played the above mentioned games. ### 5/5 — Super enjoyable *2020-04-21* Love the feel and gameplay- such a nice nostalgic vibe; clever and engrossing. Outstanding voice acting from a rich cast of actors (I laughed so much at the bloopers!), and in the end I was really sad to leave Amy and the others, to whom I got really attached without realising it. The world is beautiful and melancholic, but also surprisingly dark and gruesome at some key points. The main character is very likeable, but that might be subjective. Story might feel a bit stretched here and there, but overall it’s a beautiful journey. Only complaint might be that I would have loved a slightly longer experience, but considering the size of the team what they’ve done is incredible - I was shocked when I read the ending credits. 5/5 would recommend. ### 5/5 — Best in the Genre *2019-11-10, version 1.1.0* You can’t do much better than this in the point-and-click genre.
