### 2/5 — What’s the point?

*2026-07-15*

Not sure what the point of this app is. Its usage seems poorly integrated across the VA. I’ve talked to a number of my providers who don’t even know about it. Neither do they care. When I make the point of sharing this data with doctors, they shrug and say it’s not very important or useful to them. How can this be effective? This seems like a waste of tax money to me.

**Developer response:** The Share My Health Data app allows Veterans to view data from health tracking devices all in one place and share it with VA care teams. Please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 (available 24/7) for troubleshooting help.

### 3/5 — outdated

*2026-03-14*

This app operates under the old assumption that the only way to improve health is to; increase steps and distance and or reduce calories.
Tons of new and not so new data suggest that strength training and weight lifting offer health benefits that far out weigh (no pun intended) those that are achieved by Long Slow Distance training such as walking, jogging and etc.
The concept of caloric reduction is also equally out of date. The need for a reduction of caloric intake indicates that a subjects activity levels have decreased to a point that their current eating habits are providing an excess of energy which is not being used but is being stored as body fat that in turn is creating unhealthy conditions within the body.
Someone who is training for strength, needs to increase their caloric intake, which in turn provides energy for the lifts, builds muscle and strength and increases recovery economics. As strength increases, so also body fat decreases.
So, to conclude; this app should allow entries and data collection for ‘weight lifted’, ‘time spent lifting’ and anything else related to measuring the benefits of this type of activity.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the thoughtful feedback.

### 3/5 — Pushed to comply

*2025-12-02*

It's just okay. It's clunky but it works

**Developer response:** We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. If you encounter issues with the app, please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot, available 24/7.

### 2/5 — Nice idea, but

*2025-10-18*

Since the data this app sees originates with my devices, it should not require me to login to see my own data as seen by the app. I deleted the app as soon as I saw that. Security is a good thing, but there is such a thing as “too much of a good thing”. I would really like to be able to more easily share my health data between systems without excessive hoops to jump through.

### 2/5 — Ummmm…

*2025-10-07*

Not sure what happened but the app worked fairly well up until a few days ago. Now, even though the info being imputed is there, I can only see it if I log into the website on my PC. To me this defeats the purpose of a mobile app since I’m not toting my PC around just to show my healthcare team my stats.

### 3/5 — Unable to find matching devices

*2025-09-11*

Hard hard hard to find devices that work with the VA app.

### 3/5 — Apple Watch

*2025-09-02*

App would does not connect to Apple Watch or heart watch app. My Apple health data not updating even though I have it set to share all data.

### 2/5 — Does not show data from apple heath or Fitbit

*2025-03-03*

It worked initially, but now after about 6 weeks, it never displays anything but “no data today “. Have tried reinstalling and reconnecting my other apps, no luck. Getting ready to just delete it.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the issue you are experiencing. The team has recently released a new version of Share My Health Data (v5.6) that specifically addresses the concerns you mentioned. Please check to make sure your phone is updated to this new version. If you continue to encounter issues however, we recommend calling the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180.

### 2/5 — Uploading Issues

*2024-12-05*

I constantly find my self deleting and reinstalling the application in order to get the readings uploaded. Very frustrating. The idea is great when it works.

### 3/5 — I wish my health care team could see my inputs

*2024-11-01*

See title

### 1/5 — Irrationally Irritating

*2024-10-27*

Not only does every VA app now have a constant, red banner reminder that suicide is always an option, but now they’ve added a literal reminder right under that to call 911 in emergencies. What is the point of having that on every page of every app and website and room and hold music? It honestly makes me avoid the VA AS MUCH AS I POSSIBLY CAN.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are following the National Suicide Prevention directive to include Veteran Crisis Line information in a variety of places including VA apps and webpages.

### 2/5 — Where is the sync with Apple health?

*2024-10-12*

I have repeatedly tried to sync apple health data but have not been able to get information to be retrieved. Am disappointed that my Apple Watch, polar heart rate monitor are not listed as devices which sync with the app and that Cronometer, and Strava apps do not sync either.

### 1/5 — Problem login in

*2024-08-01*

It keeps asking to logout and login again. I cannot have anything done in the app

### 4/5 — Needs more Community Provider connection

*2024-02-08*

This concept was overdue to help both VA and community providers communicate exam and diagnostic notes; as well as access lab work and personal health monitoring data from all sources. Duplication of lab tests, and lack of awareness of different diagnoses and treatments by multiple providers outside VA adds costs of healthcare while impeding positive outcomes. Not all veterans get to communicate concisely what treatments they receive between VA and Community providers. Also the advent of personal health monitoring technologies should be fully exploited to share data among all healthcare providers for the benefits of early symptom warnings, as well as the more realistic picture of total health that providers can leverage for better outcomes. To that end, reports need to be built into the apps to better communicate the data on focus areas such as Cardiology, Diabetes, Respiration, to name a few. Also a wider outreach to connect community providers is vital to sharing data in regions where there are few healthcare providers per capita, and even fewer specialists, as providers leave the field.

### 1/5 — Same as most

*2023-09-17*

Like many others, I can’t get past the terms and conditions screen.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won’t work

*2026-08-02*

I have downloaded it 2 different times and after adding everything when I close the app and go back in, the app won’t work at all.

**Developer response:** please reach out to the Office of Connected Care Help Desk (866-651-3180), available 24/7.

### 1/5 — Screen locks up after first login

*2026-07-20*

The app crashes after logging in. I can get it working by deleting the app and reinstalling; however, the next time I login, it does it again.

**Developer response:** Please reach out to the Office of Connected Care Help Desk (866-651-3180), available 24/7.

### 1/5 — Issues

*2026-06-09*

Since downloading the app. Its frozen at startup, wouldn’t refresh, deleted the app, reinstalled, doesn’t freeze now but wont refresh. I have a great wifi signal in my home. So for me the jury is out, but its not a great start.

**Developer response:** If you encounter issues navigating or with anything else in the app, please remember you can contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot.

### 1/5 — Don’t believe the five star ratings

*2026-04-21*

I think some of the raters do not know how to use the system. One star means pathetic app. Five star means great app. But when you read the reviews you see that some of the people had it backwards. This app does not work properly. I’ve been tracking my blood pressure with the Apple health app for the past several months. None of that data has transferred from Apple health to this app. Even though I have connected and reconnected several times. As for my Apple Watch, I don’t even see it as a choice for connecting as a device. It would be a useful app if it worked as advertised.

**Developer response:** Hello! If you're not seeing that your device is connected, or that the data you expect is on your dashboard, please give our Help Desk at 866-651-3180 (available 24/7) a call so that we can walk you through it and troubleshoot.

### 1/5 — Apple Watch Not There

*2026-01-08*

Went to add device, but Apple Watch not listed.

### 1/5 — Zero support

*2025-12-16, version 5.7.3*

I’ve called the support line a number of times. They immediately state it’s a Login.gov issue (which it is not) and say, “Let’s conference them in to resolve this.” Then, rather than doing as stated, they blind transfer you to Login.gov and the Login.gov support team always determines it’s not a Login.gov issue, but since the app support person lied and did not stay on the phone, nothing gets resolved at all. Aside from that, when I was able to log in, every VAMC provider from three different states has, to this date, been unable to reference or find where this data is sent.

### 1/5 — Lost data

*2025-10-13*

I put in data every day for two months - it is all gone. No recovery???????

### 1/5 — What does it do?

*2025-08-20, version 5.6.1*

What does it do?

### 1/5 — Will not log im

*2025-06-25*

When I press the login I just get a message to wait until the application is loading and a spinning wheel.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you hit a loading wheel that disrupts logon. If you are still experiencing this issue please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot.

### 1/5 — They blow

*2025-01-24*

Almost all my VA sites are down at minimum once a month. When I cancel or try to make appointments they NEVER work

**Developer response:** We're sorry for all this difficulty that you have faced. We recommend calling the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Ease of usage

*2026-02-13*

Thank for update the records portal!

**Developer response:** Glad to hear you like the update!

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-02-09*

I use Apple Watch and it looks like a great way to share my data collected with VA’s health care providers (if they know how to access it). One of my health care provider said they might not be able to access it due to VA’s security. Users should note that Apple supports only a limited amount of health device. But you can manually input data in Apple’s Health app and SMHD will sync it.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We’re collaborating with our providers to ensure they know how to access data from the app within our electronic health records.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2025-12-10*

I’m so glad for now knowing how to almost navigate system, many of us x military are very old
:-)

**Developer response:** We're glad you had success. If you encounter issues navigating or with anything else in the app, please remember you can contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot.

### 5/5 — Great App to Share Health Data

*2025-09-10*

I truly like this concept, especially since I’m very adamant about tracking my health data. I use Apple data collection through my Apple Watch to my iPhone to the SMHD app.

However, our healthcare providers must also utilize the provider facing app tools in order to receive and review the data we are sending using the SMHD app.

Otherwise, I think is an excellent mobile health reporting app.

Next I would allow for more heart specifics like AFIB.

### 5/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2025-05-05*

Loaded app to my IPhone and IPad. Cannot connect any devices or enter information manually. I contacted the helpline numerous times and was told they are working the problem. After a week of waiting no fix. Will go back to my other tracking health apps.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the issue you experienced. Our team recently resolved this issue and informed the help desk. If you are still experiencing this issue please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot.

### 5/5 — Works great 08/17/23

Works great with both of my paired Bluetooth devices and my Fitbit and Garmin connected devices. Great!

### 5/5 — Updates Appreciated

*2023-07-19*

Creating an account is much easier with the new app and updates. Particularly appreciate the changes to allow staying signed in longer and use Face ID. Convenient option for logging blood sugar data to share with VA providers.

**Developer response:** We're glad you are enjoying the app.

### 5/5 — Excellent Update!!!

The new login process is amazing!
