### 2/5 — Not up to par

*2022-06-15, version 3.1.0*

The app is glitchy from the the moment I downloaded it. Customer service is not helpful. Only using it as part of a special free program through health insurance. There are plenty of better apps that work better.

### 2/5 — Not able to login to app

*2021-12-23, version 3.0.0*

When try to login to app it keeps going back to login screen.

### 2/5 — Wish it worked as advertised

*2021-10-24, version 2.3.3*

The photos for the app show comments from the dietician on the food log and chat conversations with the group. This is not possible with the app on my iOS device. I must log into the website. It is also difficult to log food. You can take a photo of the food using the app camera icon, but it doesn’t show load it to the screen. You have to go around in a circle and select it from photos, and then select it again within the app. It’s difficult to sync other programs. For instance, in the program I’m in, FitBit is required. However, the app can’t see FitBit (it can see Apple Health). So, there are extra steps on FitBit that you must go through. The app does not show that FitBit is connected after the two apps are connected. That seems like a lack of transparency if you cant see the apps that are connected to the app.

### 2/5 — Good idea. Needs update

*2021-10-05, version 2.3.3*

Food log with photo is fine. Messages don’t show up- only sender name and 3 dots. Integration with Apple Watch sporadically correct. Calorie count is sometimes BMR only and other times active minutes from watch (although not always accurate). So what is it??? Integration with Fitbit scale works well.

### 2/5 — Great program, buggy app

*2021-10-01, version 2.3.3*

The idea behind this is great and I appreciate the live group sessions that form the background of this program. But the app is a real letdown. Messaging doesn’t work, login through single sign on is a challenge, syncing with other platforms and devices is limited, etc.

### 1/5 — Poor design and unreliable

*2021-09-21, version 2.3.3*

I echo the thoughts of other reviewers. This app is just not good at all. Fitbit integration is horrendous. I have to reconnect Fitbit multiple times a day and the health data still isn’t accurate. When I contacted product support, the response was, “our engineers are working on it”. The app has no home feature and seems to randomly determine what home is. And the food logging is so bad. There’s no distinction of day to day logging like most other food logging apps. And don’t get me started about the food logging camera feature. Doesn’t matter how you point your camera to the plate or a screenshot — picture always gets cut off. The messaging feature for the comments from the nutritionist is also poorly executed; I’m never sure when he’s contacting me. I was so excited about this program but now going into week 3, I continue to find the app UX to be very poor and frustrating.

### 2/5 — Good concept poorly executed

*2021-09-15, version 2.3.3*

I like integrating all my health data from fit bit, meals, and coaching, but so much doesn’t work in this app. Cannot read messages from group members, weights have not shown up in the app from the bodytrace scale until several days later(if at all). The body trace scale is another issue entirely (why are they still restricted to cell phone connections only). Develops apparently make changes to the database structure that are not coordinated with either the website or the app. Tech support only ever answers with “the engineers are working on that”. They must have the world’s slowest engineers.

### 1/5 — Inconsistent syncing

*2021-08-14, version 2.3.2*

I’ve had the app for about 2 weeks now and have connected to my Apple Health to track activity. I only have 2 days of data that have synced. The status says it was synced last night, but still only 2 days worth of data have actually synced. This app is not useful if all the functions can’t be used.

### 1/5 — Weight tracking not working after update

*2021-08-07, version 2.3.2*

I updated the app about a week ago and it now affects my past weights. Instead of a different weight for each day, it shows the same weight every day for the entire week. This makes the app no longer useful for me.

### 1/5 — Seems to work against rather than with

*2021-07-27, version 2.3.1*

Through the scale back program we received a scale that syncs to the app. That’s about the only thing that syncs to this app.

Wishlist:
1. Ability to sync to Fitbit (only option is to sync to Apple Health)
2. It seems to have a weird connection to the Fitbit app that means data gets confused.
3. Water tracking would be a great addition.
4. Coach couldn’t get messages through the messages, only through comments on the food pics
5. Food pics are weird, seems to resize and recent we them in odd ways.

### 2/5 — New user

*2021-07-21, version 2.3.1*

Hello developers I just started using this app today and I have seen some features that are not here, not sure why. Like app doesn’t have or show other devices to add on the app, like Fitbit app or scale/ watch. It doesn’t have data to search and add meals. Not sure if this is how it works.

### 1/5 — Does not sync

*2021-07-13, version 2.3.1*

I am having issues syncing this app with Fitbit and for some reason the app developers cannot figure this out. It’s been over a week and issue is still not resolved. They offer a free Fitbit scale and Fitbit but cannot seem to sync with Fitbit. I have many apps that sync with Fitbit with no issue ever.

### 3/5 — Unable to see messages

*2021-07-09, version 2.3.1*

It would be nice if the app had the same functionality as the website. In order to see messages I have to log in to the website. Not as easy as opening the app

### 1/5 — Update incredibly frustrating

*2021-07-05, version 2.3.1*

It’s been nearly 8 months since the app update that wrecked this program for me. My biggest frustration is that the weight tracking no longer shows fluctuations in weight. This is a MAJOR shortcoming for a program whose purpose is weight loss! Despite reaching out to the service desk several times, there has been no resolution to this problem other than “we’re working on it.” We’ve heard that for nearly 8 months now. I’ve pretty much given up.

**Developer response:** Hello! Sorry to hear your frustrations with the weight display. We did discover this bug and have a fix in review currently. Stay tuned for a release soon! Hope you'll stick with the program and please reach out if we can support you more directly at https://sharecaredpp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new . Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback. - Brandon

### 2/5 — Chat help!

*2021-06-16, version 2.3.1*

I can not see messages from
My Coach or team in the app version. Have reached out to support with no help. Pleas fix this!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lots of glitches

*2022-08-16, version 3.1.0*

Photos comments and fitness sync are about all that work. The first time the messages didn’t work I was told the only fix is to delete and reinstall. That fix only worked a few days and hasn’t worked again. I’ve rebooted and reinstalled 10x with no success.
I was then told to use the app for the photos since this isn’t available on the website and to use the website for all messages since that doesn’t work in the app.

**Developer response:** Hi Adegennaro,

So sorry to hear about chat not working for you. In version 4.0.0, we recently released new chat, which resolves these chat issues. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Fails constantly

*2022-07-24, version 3.1.0*

Regularly fails. At the moment not only not syncing with Fitbit but shows no data at all. Worst app ever. No way to contact support from the app. If there isn’t enough frustration trying to lose weight, this app only adds to it. And what’s worse. Nothing gets fixed.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2022-04-07, version 3.1.0*

There is really no reason to use the app if I have to log in to the website to see comments from my coach or log my meals. I’ve also been trying for 3 days to get the FitBit app to synch to this app with no success. The program is a great one but the use of this nonfunctional app is going to cause a lot of users to discontinue participation. This is suppose to be a simple process but having to utilize a workaround to communicate is a tremendous inconvenience to say the least.

### 1/5 — New version fixed nothing.

*2022-02-09, version 3.0.2*

I wish the developer would contact people who leave reviews. This app doesn’t work. Even with the update it doesn’t properly sync with apple health. Messages still don’t appear using iOS.

Not worth trying even with it being free.

### 1/5 — Does not work like it should

*2022-01-14, version 3.0.1*

I don’t like this app at all! My Fitbit aria scale does not connect to my share care app. It syncs to the fit bit app but nothing else. I can’t manually add my weight in there either. Like it has been said in all the other reviews the message board is useless as I can see that individuals are sending messages but all I see on my end are a bunch of dots which is frustrating.

**Developer response:** Hi Mrs. Colton - Fitbit doesn't allow for connecting individual devices; rather you need to connect your Fitbit account to Scale Back. This can be done under the Profile section. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Support if you need some further help with this. Thanks! Erin

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-01-02, version 3.0.0*

I downloaded the app but after logging in through Share Care it just takes me back to the login screen. I’ve restarted my phone, deleted and downloaded the app again, and contacted support. Nothing works.

### 1/5 — Can’t get past login screen

*2022-01-01, version 3.0.0*

I would love to actually use the app, however when I click the button to login via my Sharecare account, I end up in a loop that doesn’t allow me to enter any credentials. I have deleted twice and tried to redownload to no avail.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-12-31, version 3.0.0*

Can’t get past the login screen.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-12-27, version 3.0.0*

The application does not work. The latest update broke authentication for some reason, I don’t know if it was a log4j patch or what but the application is completely broken for me know. Also, the integration with Apple Health Data doesn’t work well at all.

### 1/5 — Not good at all

*2021-12-22, version 3.0.0*

I just signed up through my health insurance. The app definitely loaded to my phone. Unfortunately when i click to sign in, the app won’t initialize to the sign in page and takes me back to “Sign In”. I’ll change my score when this process improves.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Extremely happy

*2022-04-15, version 3.1.0*

I have had no problems since I began using the app in Feb 2022. Photos upload immediately, commenting works. The only thing I would ask is for a way to log without a photo, but my coach says she kinda enjoys seeing our cats, flowers, and empty plates.

### 5/5 — An effective program

*2021-11-03, version 2.3.3*

While some of the classes are super basic, that makes sure you have a solid understanding for later classes. It’s helping me stay accountable and on track.

### 5/5 — Pretty good app, great program

*2021-10-21, version 2.3.3*

The app has been improve in the fall of 2021. The need to daily reauthorize data access via Fitbit has been resolved. The program itself is very well organized. In the end, it is up to you to make a commitment to take care of your health. The Scale Back application is a good tool to help you.

I really was tired of re-authorizing Fitbit again and agin, but this is now resolved.

I would prefer an application that can calculate calories, (the Fitbit app does this well). The reliance on your food photos is rather strange, but it does the job.

My experience is the combination of the video check-ins with the coach and the Scale Back app is good. If you want to develop better eating and exercise habits and take better care of yourself, I recommend you try it.

### 5/5 — Excellent app!!

*2021-06-28, version 2.3.1*

This is a fantastic app which I highly recommend! The app las already helped me become a much healthier individual!! I’m tracking my food intake and physical activity, and I’ve already lost 25 lbs! Could not be happier!

### 5/5 — Enjoy learning more about diet and food

*2021-04-27, version 2.3.0*

I am really enjoying the program and have learned so much about food and nutrition. Having worked in a commercial kitchen for 30 years I didn’t know this much about nutrition.

**Developer response:** Hi woohoodoyou - Very happy to see this! We're also working hard improving the app experience so you have improved tools for your program going forward. Thanks for the continued support! - Brandon

### 5/5 — I’ve lost weight, feel healthier and in control. I love this App!

*2020-12-23, version 2.1.0*

This program combines telehealth, with wearable device integration, and the mobile app., for a very interactive and engaging way to take control of my diet and activity/exercise. This should also be a mental health program because during this time of Covid-19, this program, and meeting with my Registered Dietitian weekly, is something that I look forward to and has helped every aspect of my life, including my emotional mental health and sanity. Highly, highly recommend for anyone trying to help improve themselves and feel healthy and productive.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App!

*2020-12-23, version 2.1.0*

Really was able to get a handle on my diet and lifestyle with this app. The switch to zoom helped a lot with video quality during the classes. Helped me lose around 15 pounds !

### 5/5 — Helped turn my diet around!

*2020-12-23, version 2.1.0*

As someone who exercises a lot but has had a bad diet for a while, I can say that working with my dietitian in this app has really helped me to improve my diet which has helped me to lose weight.

**Developer response:** Hi nats2811 — I'm so glad to hear that the Scale Back program is helping you improve your health! Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your success. - Davina

### 5/5 — 5 Stars

*2020-12-23, version 2.1.0*

I lost 15 pounds using this app! Love it!

### 4/5 — Decimals places/rounding & goals

*2021-06-26, version 2.3.1*

I updated the app and see that the weight is no longer measured in decimal points. My weight loss is gradually so, it’s encouraging to see the decimal points. I hope the app returns the weight measure back to 1 or 2 decimal places. Thank you! Also, I’d like to see the goals setup similarly to the PDFs for the program. Make the goals reoccurring and prompt me to encourage me to reach the goal as well as check into my goals.

**Developer response:** Hi Leader! So sorry to hear you experienced this. We do have a fix for this bug in review that will be out as soon as we can, so stay tuned! If we can support you more directly, please reach out at https://sharecaredpp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new . Thanks for the feedback and we'll have this resolved asap! - Brandon
