It kept me up to date for everything that was coming up as well as what I had to do. It’s far far better than having pieces of paper to try to find. Even if I didn’t remember when I had to get things done or when my appointments were the app reminded me. I used it continually for both eye surgeries. It was informative, easy to use, kept me on track for my drops and was a true blessing to have. I could not have had such a successful experience without it. Love the fact the app sends a reminder when it’s time to put my eye drops in. Everyone in pre op, surgery and recovery were wonderful. Great experience and I have my eye site back. ### 5/5 — Sharp Employee *2021-08-26, version 1.5.15* Our senior patients have benefited in having daily reminders in reminding them through an easy app to put in their eye drops without worrying about missing a drop which contributes to the healing and recovery after cataract surgery. Many important reminders help the patient prepare up to the the day of surgery then after. Such as being cleared by their primary care physician to being COVID tested a few days prior to surgery. Patients have access to a video to learn how to put in their own eye drops. From checking their own vision in the comfort of their own home and tracking pain level there are several happy outcomes to having this app. ### 5/5 — Excellent App. Very helpful *2021-08-18, version 1.5.15* This app is an excellent companion to the cataract surgery pre- and post op care instructions. I ve just had my second cataract surgery and find it very helpful. It is interactive and user friendly and provides important information in a succinct and accessible way using clear illustrations so I can see at a glance what I need to do. For example, the app reminds me (patient) exactly how and when to use the necessary eye drops for a complete recovery. It provides a timer to take the guesswork out of the process and checks off the my daily to do list throughout the day so under or over medicating is avoided. On a daily basis, the Sharp Companion App kept me on point for all pre-surgical and post-surgical events. Surgery is scary; but knowing what to expect by watching the videos eased my anxiety. Additionally, the daily Notifications / Reminders on the steps to take pre & post surgery was a valuable tool to ensure I would have a successful outcome. ### 5/5 — Great experience! For a FT worker and a mom of little kids having to apply 2 different eye drops 4 times a day for 2-4 weeks this app was a saver. He cares so much for his patients that he developed an app that makes it easy for his patents to follow Pre and post care instructions. The videos are excellent. They let me know what to expect, and made the whole experience stress free. The app was so helpful in reminding me when to use the drops, and what activities to avoid. It made it easy and made me feel good to know I was following his instructions exactly! Thank you! ### 5/5 — Complex Senior Surgery *2020-10-20, version 1.5.5* This app was a lifesaver! My father with dementia and many other health complexities needed cataract surgery. As his caregiver it’s easy to have my own mind going in a hundred different places. The care plan that his physician setup on this app truly made an overwhelming process so easy and efficient leading up to surgery and during recovery. The notifications kept us on track and saved us both additional headaches. Often there is a lot of information given at consultations and for a person with dementia it’s even harder to comprehend and retain the information. I was able to utilize the app to show my father videos and remind him of his care plan. He could be better involved in the process with going through the checklist each day. Wonderful app, so grateful this was afforded to us by Sharp Healthcare. ### 5/5 — The Awesome APP *2020-09-28, version 1.5.4* Loved using the app after my cataract surgery! It was beyond useful!!! It was a great reminder of the use of the appropriate eye drops ... and when we were reduced to one kind as opposed to two it was indicated. The eye evaluation each evening is a wonderful way to let Dr. Korn know what is actually happening and it gives the patient a sense of security knowing that they are communicating with their doctor. The recent surgery used this app and it was a great reminder and tracking system for all of the frequent and varying eye dropper medications; much better than the recurring phone alarms I used for the first surgery. It gave me reminders when to take my eye drops. The fact that I could do an activity to see how my vision was. That was amazing and made me feel confident that my vision was as greatly improved since having my surgery. That need more apps like this one. Can’t wait to use it again with my next eye surgery. Really liked the doctor and his staff who showed me the app ### 5/5 — Sharp Health Companion app *2020-09-11, version 1.5.4* I am so in awe over this app that Dr. Korn showed me before my cataract surgery. I have never been so prepared and reassured going into a surgery as I was using this app which coached me along the way with videos, reminders, and tasks. That didn’t stop on day of surgery because it also keeps me on track now with my self administered eye drops and even with eye tests to see how My vision is progressing after surgery. Reports are easily sent to your supervising doctor. I hope that the app will also be adapted for other surgeries because there is a terrific advantage to being educated and interactive, including reaching your physician team to get answers to questions as they come up. Angelika Hauk ### 5/5 — Excellent app *2020-09-05, version 1.5.4* 5 stars I had cataract surgery several weeks ago and was introduced to the app by a very capable woman (part of the wonderful team of people who helped me) prior to and after my surgery. I found it quite helpful and easy to use. First, the information on the app and the tasks afforded me a blueprint for my procedure and my responsibilities both before and after. Daily I am notified about taking my medications or other tasks. I especially like the fact that there is a pain chart and visual acuity test that I do daily. It lets me know how I am doing and I appreciate that. I also can send reports to my doctor and contact him or other people on the team very easily. Furthermore, I am able to set the times i want to take the meds(according to the parameters) on the settings which personalizes the app for me. The graphs give me another clear picture of my status. And finally, using the app gives me the feeling that the team is monitoring my status and offers me support and direction. My only suggestion to improve the app, would be for the font, especially in “tasks”, to be larger and bolder. I also like the use of colors to highlight different items on the site. I definitely recommend this app for use. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 5/5 — Excellent app *2023-04-27* The app for the pre/post surgery was an excellent tool. However, it wasn’t until I had the 2nd surgery, without the app that my appreciation increased. The app’s notifications of when to use the eye drops was easier than attempting to remember or writing it down. The information provided for pre/post surgery was helpful to remember what was to be expected and always at your fingertips to refresh the information. I missed it with my 2nd surgery. And having had a previous surgery, that required paper to keep track of meds, etc I would suggest that ALL surgeries have an app to help with recovery ### 5/5 — This app is fantastic! *2022-04-06, version 1.5.28* I have used the Sharp app for 3 eye surgeries. Each time I use it I feel it takes the stress of remembering when to take my eye drops or other tasks required before and after surgery, making it a no brainer as a patient. The app reminded me to take medicines and safety precautions as well as where and when my appointments were. I can see my progress during my healing which is also helpful. It is very easy to use, informative, and helpful. You won’t see much activity from it at first, but as your surgery gets closer, the app comes alive. It reminds you of the tasks you need to handle before and after surgery. It also has eye tests to check your vision following surgery, and contact information for any questions you may have for the doctor or his excellent team. The previous version would not let me view the videos but they fixed it on the new release.
