## What is ShelfLife?

ShelfLife is a beautiful home for your books and your reading life.

ShelfLife is a book tracker that provides a beautiful place to record your books and easily create shareable visual collections for social media. Arrange your library by mood or memory or whatever makes you happy.

BEAUTIFUL BOOKSHELVES
Arrange your books on physics-enabled shelves you can theme, style, and share. Build a bookshelf for any mood, genre, or moment, then export a gorgeous shelf card to Instagram, Messages, and more. Find books by name, author, barcode scanning, or ISBN.

SHOW US YOUR SPINES!
Finally you can see your books arranged sideways like you would in real life. Upload photos of your book spines to the community gallery and select your perfect spine image to display. Stack and turn books for variety and add decor objects to really personalize your shelves.

YOUR TOP 12
Choose the twelve books that define your taste. Your Top 12 is your shareable statement of who you are as a reader.

TBR AND READING LISTS, ORGANIZED AND VISUALIZED
Mark books as To Be Read and have a shelf for the seasons or a stack for a single obsession or author tribute.

BOOK SIGNAL — RECOMMENDATIONS FROM REAL READERS
Ask for a book recommendation and hear back from readers whose taste overlaps with yours. Real people, real reads connected by the kinds of books they read.

A READING FEED OF YOUR PEOPLE
Follow the readers you trust and see what they're reading, finishing, and reviewing, in a simple chronological feed.

READING WITH FRIENDS AND BOOK CLUBS
Follow your friends, your book club, and find readers whose taste overlaps yours. See what they're starting and finishing, trade recommendations, and celebrate every finished book together.

REVIEWS THAT MEAN SOMETHING
Rate books, write reviews, and read honest opinions from real readers instead of bots and consensus noise.

THE PEANUT GALLERY — WHERE THE SPOILERS LIVE
Every book has a Gallery door, and finishing the book unlocks it. Inside: hot takes, unpopular opinions, and beautiful pulled quotes from readers who just turned the last page too.

FEATS — READING CHALLENGES, YOUR WAY
Set a yearly goal, read a classic a month, or dream up a challenge that's entirely yours. Track your progress book by book, then share the finish line. ShelfLife is a reading tracker that give you customizable options for how you want to view your progress.

COMING FROM GOODREADS OR STORYGRAPH?
Import your reading history with a CSV file and organize your library the way you always wanted.

No ads, ever. Independent, and built by a married couple of readers for readers.

### 5/5 — BEST SHELF BOOK TRACKING APP

*2026-08-26*

I’ve tried all the book shelf style book tracking apps (literally) and this one is by far the best! Easy to figure out, most flexible with decorating and personalizing and so easy to add missing books while also having an already big library of books in its system. It is so fun! It’s truly the best version of the many versions of virtual book shelf tracking apps and I’m so glad I found it!

### 4/5 — Love it!

*2026-08-25*

I really enjoy this app! I love how personable it is with the shelving. I do wish there was a way to add books manually since I do tend to read indie books or debut novels a lot. Otherwise amazing!

**Developer response:** Hey Maddy! We are really happy you enjoy using the visual shelves in the app to personalize your book tracking :). Good news, adding books manually has been our most requested feature since we launched and we expect it to be in an update next week! ### 5/5 — Best Curated Social Media Experience For Passionate Readers

*2026-08-19*

This is the kind of curated social media for readers I’ve always wanted!

I’m able to peer into the book tastes of my colleagues without digging too deep into conversations about their favorite books. Where messages and communication between users exist, it’s towards purposeful topic-driven prompts about the books.
I’ve been able to neatly organize my book list, leave the notes I would want others to read about my takeaways for each book or collection, and best of all I’ve received awesome book suggestions with the app’s signal feature!
I otherwise wouldn’t have considered the suggestions if I relied on recommendation algorithms alone.

Please join!

**Developer response:** 🙌 🙌 🙌 thank you! Part of the reason we built ShelfLife is that we wanted to connect people over recommendations instead of relying on flaky algorithms or horrendous AI responses. Glad you like it!

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2026-08-12*

Love decorating in the app and getting creative with my shelves! Also love the community aspect of it!

**Developer response:** Thank you! This review made our day since it's the first one! 🙌 Decorating shelves is our favorite part of the app too.
