I have too many to import manually so it’s a no go for me and I cancelled the trial. It is also really expensive. The only downside is you have to pay to play. The app itself is well throughout and has a lot of potential but there is one glaring issue; book selection. Three of the first five books I tried to enter were not found. I hate apps like this. Just tell me in the download price it is $100 one time purchase or something. I don’t know why I was led to believe this was a free app. I will not be doing a 3 day trail just to have to come back in a few days(which you hope I will forget) or get charged. I am so tired of every app needing a subscription. Ridiculous. Normal people can’t afford to pay for 20-100 subscriptions. That’s why people look at people who say they have Netflix or another service with bafflement and disgust. Everyone I know has gotten rid of all their subscription services because it has gotten out of hand. ### 1/5 — Garbage *2026-07-07, version 2.2.1* Asks for a review before you even get into the app, and then makes you either pay or get the free trial to use the app at all. If you don’t do either of those things, then you just set up your info in the app for nothing ### 4/5 — Quite an enjoyable experience *2026-07-06, version 2.2.1* So I’m going to write a review now so I don’t forget to, and I’ll update my review as I use the app more as it’s only been a few days. So far I really like it. I love having the bookshelf and being able to customize it. I’ve had some issues with the sorting where I sort by authors last name and some books won’t group together but it’s really no biggie. I think my main complaint is the discover section, which I was most excited for. I love that it tells me what book I’ve already read that the suggested book is similar to, but the description of the book doesn’t help much. Also, it just likes to show me the same books over and over which was disappointing. Other than that, I find it’s been motivating me to read a lot more :) it’s very user friendly and aesthetically pleasing as well. ### 1/5 — PAY WALL *2026-07-05, version 2.2.1* Zero features for free. You go through the setup questions and then it makes you pay in order to even experience the app. Like full on wall. You cant do anything except answer some questions…. Woooo. Thanks for lying, this IS NOT a free app. ### 1/5 — This is a Paid App *2026-07-04, version 2.2.1* You’re misleading people by not mentioning that this is a pay or no go app. I wanted to see how this app worked and didn’t get a chance because you either pay or you don’t proceed. I will continue using UnCover. It’s a totally free app and it has an amazing platform. ### 1/5 — scam *2026-07-03, version 2.2.1* makes you give a review before you realize you have to pay no matter what ### 1/5 — Not Free; Limited Library *2026-07-02, version 2.2.1* I downloaded the app because I have been wishing for something like this as an alternative to Goodreads. I love the premise. I was annoyed that the entire app locks down after setup unless you agree to a 3 day free trial. The App Store said I would have to cancel 1 day before my subscription renewed, so that’s really only two days free. I can’t even explore the app without agreeing to these terms. The nail in the coffin is that when I searched a pretty popular book, it was not even in the system. I could not add the most recent book I read. What is the point of the app if I can’t even add the books I just read? Note to the developers: I see the arguments you are making about a subscription being the only way for you to keep it ad-free. I get it. You need to make money for your hard work. Please hear from your target audience: we would like an option with ads so that we can try before committing to a subscription. If you can fix that and also make it so the books your users are reading will show up in your system, I would be willing to try again. I probably would end up subscribing, but under the current circumstances, I will be deleting the app. Best wishes on your brilliant app! Definitely not going to do that when I barely even know what the app can do. ### 1/5 — Zero Stars *2026-08-27, version 2.2.8* I should’ve read the reviews as well. The trial period for this app functions differently than other apps, if you don’t pay close attention to wording, canceling on the third day of the 3 day trial somehow still gets you charged. Either way, neither Shelfy or Apple were willing to help, despite trying to clear up the matter immediately. I was charged for a full year with no assistance despite escalating the dispute. ### 1/5 — Subscription Required 🚫👎🏻 *2026-08-21, version 2.2.7* Like the title states. Paywall immediately upon setting up the app. Immediate uninstall for me. Bummer, looks like a great app. ### 1/5 — It’s making me owe money for an app I deleted already *2026-08-19, version 2.2.7* I use the free trial right and I don’t have money on my card right now and it gave me the actual yearly trial and now I owe them $40 even though I didn’t actually buy it because apparently it gave it to me even though I’m not on the subscription anymore, I canceled it. ### 1/5 — Nope *2026-08-18, version 2.2.7* Sorry, I can’t stand apps that don’t even give me a chance to look at the app before they are throwing the subscribe button out. There is no using this app without paying. Not only is the app excellent and easy to use to use, it has also helped me get away from doomscrolling on social media and I’m now on a 3 month streak of reading daily. The developer is fantastic and always looking to make improvements to the app and also asks users for their input often to add features they feel are missing. I know I’ll be using Shelfy for many years to come and I’ll be buying a lifetime membership as soon as I have the funds to do so! ### 5/5 — Underrated *2026-06-29, version 2.2.1* Im leaving this five star review because the reviews do not give it justice.
