So I change my password as suggested, and it tells me it’s locking my account because I’ve tried too many times to access the account. I’m happy to pay for this formerly free service but the app won’t even let me do that! When trying to charge my car on the road I don’t have time to be messing with customer support. Yet another example of app developers being completely divorced from reality sometime. ### 2/5 — Fixes needed *2025-02-27* If the goal is to push all users to the Shell Recharge app for EV charging, it has some room to go before prime time. The map does not update automatically and I have gone to multiple locations that show available only to find the chargers occupied. Second, the prepaid balance doesn’t properly adjust to show the current balance after a charging session. Third, the Active Charging Session screen does not update throughout the session. It shows no reading but if I back out to the list view, it will show me a $ amount for the current session. I have had issues with the regular Shell app too. I have tried the troubleshooting and have pulled down to refresh and it never updates. Sessions always finish and are successful but no status from Shell along the way. Finally, if you want users to feel comfortable downloading an app from the App Store on iOS, for goodness sake make sure it says that it is the legit app from Shell and not developed by another business (who is Zeco Systems and what is the relationship? I shouldn’t have to do that)! I didn’t download it until I called Shell support and they told me that was the official app. Buy the naming rights to list your company, please like the other Shell Information Technology. ### 2/5 — App confusing and looks like a spreadsheet! *2025-02-25, version 7.4.0* The way most people think… The “charging station” is the address or business. The charger is not the station. I got a tow from AAA to this shell recharge station. Man…..talk about slow . I waited 4 1/2 hrs to 36% charge. So this station saved me. So again I can’t complain too much about it being very very slow😯😯. It was an actually working station. This app helps charge your ev around shell stations. It has the worst error handling, chargers are out of order for months, and this app just casually decided to stop working. Overall experience is difficult to navigate but today, it crossed its limits when i tried to charge my car and nothing happened. No errors, or poor error copy, and now it just stopped showing chargers. I wonder how such a big company manage to make apps live in prod. With bugs. ### 1/5 — Does not use up entire prepaid balance *2025-01-21, version 7.2.1* Cuts off charging with 79 cents left which could be over 4.5 kWh ### 1/5 — Overcharging Scam *2025-01-17, version 7.2.1* Shell has implemented a $1.49 transaction fee which is huge. They charge an idle fee near me of $9/hr, far more than the $2.80 that 1 hour of charging would cost, and NONE of this is detailed on the main charging screen. You have to go to a SEPERATE part of the app to find this. Predatory, and should be illegal. ### 1/5 — Slow and doesn’t work well *2025-01-05, version 7.2.1* The app is very slow and it doesn’t work well. Trying to report an issue with a station just leads to an internal server error, which is fitting. The stations aren’t up front with the cost, and can be ridiculously expensive, like $1/kWh. Except no email came. Days later nothing so I forgot about it. When I wanted to use the app again it asked to once again confirm email. It had a button for sending a new email. Click on email. Link expired. Repeated Multiple times on multiple days. I can only imagine how bad the app is once I login. App is terrible and makes you load $10 at a time onto it to use the stations. The stations never work and they’re a complete waste of space. I have to call customer support almost every single time. They need to update their app and their whole charging network. It is just the worst charging network I’ve ever used. ### 1/5 — Locked out of account *2025-02-22, version 7.4.0* After resetting the password, the app did not take the new password and rejected my log in and the security feature is to lock you out of our account for 30 minutes. The charger had no additional ways to activate the charging and I could not charge my car at this time. The monitoring of how much charge you got lags and it’s a 50-50 when it actually does work. This could be 5 stars if it fixes the small issues. Maybe line 3-5 more updates to perfect this. The day after I write this review the remote start charging stopped working. I’m sorry. Don’t know the answer. I’ve had a great experience with the app and the charging. No issues this far. Super inexpensive in my area. I also live in SoCal so that could be why it appears seamless.
