### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2019-07-29*

I love this game. It’s so addictive. The 10 free tokens a day is usually enough, but I paid the one-time fee to unlock unlimited tokens. It’s worth it.

### 5/5 — Different but super good

*2019-02-13*

I am so glad I found this Solitaire. It is such a good Game

### 5/5 — Best solitaire variant I’ve played

*2018-10-29, version 1.0*

First off, this is an extremely well-designed card game in its own right. The rules are simple, but it takes a lot of forethought to play well, and forces you to balance several different considerations at once. Unlike normal solitaire, about 98% of deals are theoretically winnable, so it’s normally your fault if you get stuck.

The UI is very simple. I like that there’s no undo button, because it forces you to think ahead more. My only wish is that you could toggle the sound. If you’re wearing headphones, you can’t turn off the music.

### 4/5 — Needs the Option to Mute Music

*2018-09-30, version 1.0*

Very happy to see Shenzhen Solitaire on the App Store! I’ve been enjoying the Steam version since it was released. How about an Android version so I can enjoy it on my phone?

### 5/5 — Great port

*2017-12-30, version 1.0*

Amazing solitaire variation, very challenging, minimalist by design. But please add ability to mute music I'd like to play while listening to podcasts.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2017-09-28, version 1.0*

A fantastic variation of Solitaire. You must download this game!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-09-18, version 1.0*

Love this game. Wish it didn't use so much battery on my phone though (iPhone 6 plus). Could also use a way to turn off the music.

### 5/5 — love this game!

*2017-04-20, version 1.0*

👍👍👍

wish that it didn't give you unlimited tokens though. kind of makes it too easy to just bail on hard games and doesn't give a sense of tension or progression.

the way i would have it work is that you see how many wins you can get per ten tokens and then there could be a global leader board. i wouldn't be on it though, because i'm too impatient to be good at the game.

fun anyway. big thanks to the devs.

p.s. i can't get the music to play. i always loved the music on the mac version.

### 4/5 — One rule is not right exactly

*2017-04-16*

The rule about central place for card sequences is wrong - I can't place any card except flowers card there.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Tokens?

*2019-11-02, version 1.0*

The game runs off tokens which means you can only play a single game once every few hours. Not worth the download size.

### 1/5 — Please make this more colourblind friendly

*2018-02-12, version 1.0*

EDIT: Game also overrides music/podcasts. No means to adjust this. That's terrible.

Green, Red and Black for the suits makes it hard to discern the difference between the green and red suits.

If you used blue and red it would be much easier!

### 3/5 — Good game. Poor visibility.

*2021-09-19, version 1.0*

I find that the text is just too small on the iPhone. It’s difficult to play as is. It would be nice if it had an option to improve card face readability.

### 3/5 — Thank you

*2021-04-20, version 1.0*

Listen, I love this edition of solitaire, you can’t find it anywhere else, and I was overjoyed to find it on mobile...

But you have to limit plays? There is nothing stopping me from pulling out my laptop and opening Shenzhen once I’m through the plays allotted to keep playing anyways. it’s disappointing to say the least.

### 4/5 — No turn off music

*2022-10-24*

Would be nice if background music / sfx could be silenced as on the pc version. I would like to play with running music in another app…
other then that - nice game indeed 😀👍

### 4/5 — Great but needs a volume slider

*2022-09-15, version 1.0*

I want to be able to lower the background music so I can listen to something else at the same time from my phone

Even a mute button would work

### 4/5 — Great port

*2020-09-19, version 1.0*

Please implement the Silent Mode mechanism for headphones/speakers as well as the hardware output to make it perfect.

### 4/5 — Great game, minimal UI, one complaint

*2019-08-21, version 1.0*

The game mechanics themselves are very clever and well-balanced. The UI is sufficient – easy to use, polished enough to be pleasant. The one problem is that you cannot turn off the in-game soundtrack and listen to your own music while playing. Otherwise, this would be the perfect commuter game.

### 4/5 — Love the game!

*2019-05-13*

There are just two small things: The numbers on the cards are quite small and hard to read and also, there doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off the music while I’m playing (so I can listen to my own music).

### 4/5 — Fantastic game, but slight flaw in current implementation (IMO, YMMV)

*2019-02-28, version 1.0*

It's far too easy to accidentally hit the "NEW GAME" button while holding an iPad right-handed.

Please add a confirmation or something.

Otherwise: 5/5

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Anon

*2026-06-06, version 1.0*

Fun game, you can mute the game by pressing the INSTRUCTIONS button and pressing the speaker icon in the bottom right corner.

### 5/5 — Great game! Fresh take on “solitaire”

*2025-02-27, version 1.0*

I enjoy this take on a solo card game. The rules are simple - get all of the dragon cards (symbols) to the top left columns (when all four of that symbol are showing you can send them to one open pile on the top left) and all of the numbered cards in order 1-9 in the top right (there are three “suits”, each of which can be stacked onto the other two but not upon the same suit).

I think it’s very well designed, and particularly enjoy the lack of an undo button. Every time I think I have this mastered, I inevitably move too swiftly and mess something up, and have to abandon that game. It rewards patience, which is good for me to work on…

If the developer were to update and add a bit of content to this game, I would recommend the following:
1. Statistics - a screen for information on your win/lose statistics (you can see won games but no other stats), average hand time, fastest round, slowest round, etc.
2. The music is nice, for sure - it would be nice to be able to pause/turn off music and be able listen to other audio.
3. I’m showing my game audio nerdiness here, but…the card sounds are all the same sound file, a little pitch and volume randomization would give a bit more of an organic feel to the cards.

5 stars for sure! I discovered this game through Shenzhen I/O (it’s a minigame in that game) and was thrilled to discover a standalone version here. It’s a great game idea that has strong design and vibes behind it. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Really enjoy this game

*2022-08-22, version 1.0*

This is a fun and clean version of solitaire I found while looking for kabufuda solitaire from the game Eliza. I really like this game and app! I do wish there was a settings menu where I could lower or mute the background music so I can play while listening to other things without the (admittedly nice and subtle) background music also playing. It would also be nice if the game explained more about “dragon” cards (that they look different for each suit, that they can’t be stacked on other cards, etc). I know the devs aren’t making significant money on this app, but if these tweaks are at all possible, they would be very appreciated. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best solitaire I know (and you can mute the music!)

*2022-06-22, version 1.0*

I love this game. It is my “idle loop” activity many days. Having full information (all cards face up) is a great twist, and makes for a nice learning curve. The pricing model (with no ads!) is also great.

Finally, many reviews are complaining about to way to mute the music. You can! Just click “instructions” and there is a speaker icon in the lower-left of the screen. Tapping it toggles the music.

I would love similar access to Zachtronics’ other solitaire games!

### 5/5 — Terrific game. Marred by music

*2021-05-30, version 1.0*

Great solitaire game. Please put in an option to turn off the music!!

### 5/5 — I can’t meet the dragon

*2020-09-18*

非公式ながらしっかりと移植されていると思ったら龍が移植されておらず残念。あの仕様込みで深圳ソリティアでしょうに。

### 5/5 — Was great in Shenzhen I/O, still great on iOS

*2020-06-11, version 1.0*

I lost countless hours to this game in Shenzhen I/O, and I’m glad you have brought a version of it to iOS.

I really appreciate the slow pace the game takes as soon as you realize every move is critical.

### 5/5 — Now this is game design

*2020-04-23, version 1.0*

Elegantly designed and deceptively difficult. A brilliant riff on the classic solitaire format. Excellent stuff.

### 5/5 — Just like in Shenzhen IO

*2019-12-02*

Great time killer.

### 5/5 — Excellent game...

*2019-08-03, version 1.0*

... but needs a single-step undo. It is too easy to accidentally drop a card somewhere you didn’t mean to, especially on the iPad.

Otherwise, lots of fun.
