### 4/5 — Good collection!

*2013-05-08, version 5.0.2*

Great stories all in one place. My main issue? The pagination. Doesn't make sense. Weird breaks. Better to just allow the scroll option. Only 4 stars for this reason.

### 4/5 — Sherlock inadequate

*2012-12-29, version 4.3*

In paying for this app, I would expect at least a method for bookmarking. If I had realized it didn't have this, I wouldn't have bought it. Also, I would've expected to see the actual figures in the dancing men story. To not have them is pretty sad, and pathetic editorial effort

### 5/5 — Perfect for Sherlock Holmes fans everywhere!

*2012-10-04, version 4.2*

I got this app when it was free, and I love it! It truly does have all of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I can't say I love the scrolling myself, but it's still an awesome app. Wether you're a Holmes fan, like to read, or are just interested, get this app!

### 5/5 — Great stories

*2012-09-20, version 4.2*

I really like this app but just wish they had a way to go to different chapters in a book than just scrolling. Love the stories!

### 5/5 — Quickly Watson, my needle!

*2012-08-16, version 4.2*

This is one of the coolest apps i ever used honestly. The entire original Doyle collection in what i think is the proper order . For any mystery or Holmes fan, this is a MUST HAVE! :). Its very user friendly and even bookmarks for you where you last left off, unless you restart your iPhone that is. Anyway its definitely worth having.

### 5/5 — Exactly What I wanted

*2012-04-30, version 4.2*

Look no further for $.99 this app has it all. Cannot put my phone down! To bookmark just press the back button to go to the main menu and your place will be marked.

### 5/5 — Sherlock Holmes Collection

*2012-03-16, version 4.2*

Great! Pure, unadulterated Holmes! Those who ask for more features simply want gewgaws that are essentially needless given the quality of the content!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2012-03-09, version 4.2*

I found it pretty awesome how I got 48 Sherlock Holmes novels for only $0.99! It's impossible to put it down :) defiantly an awesome app with the newly added bookmark function and all :)

### 5/5 — It it elementary

*2012-01-31, version 4.2*

This app is so simple to use, so complete, so fulfilling that it is hard to believe this is just a phone app. Another reason to love my iPhone.

### 5/5 — Read!

*2012-01-23, version 4.2*

Rather than play a game with your extra wait time with your device, read this fantastic collection!

### 4/5 — Holmes' Enquiry

*2012-01-01, version 4.2*

This app beats the large volumes in weight. Can discreetly catch up on these adventures almost anywhere. Sherlock Holmes is eternal mystery, always a new detail when reread.

Ooops! I was reading a longer work on the Hound and discovered there wasn't any bookmarks. It is inconvenient. Mark me down a star to four.

### 2/5 — Good work, but

*2013-06-01, version 5.0.2*

I used to like this app but the new updates changed that. The new layout kills the app. I need to both flip and scroll in order to read, which is very confusing and inconvenience. The flipping animation is silly and has strange feels. The app also crashes more. I have real difficulty reading long fictions like "The sign of four."

Some old issues are not fixed. The figures, like the ones in "The Five Orange Pips", are all missing.

Probably the only good change is that now the app remembers which page I am reading. But the apps crashes when it tries to return to late page in long fictions.

### 3/5 — Assessment and recommendation

*2021-12-24, version 10.0*

Allows a glimpse of history through the real world environments that frequently serve as backdrops for the cases tackled by Doyle’s daring detective. A reasonably designed reading interface. Needs improvement: The ad on that opens up automatically can slow things down and could easily give someone the wrong impression when you open the app. The lack of screen rotation is a bit of a letdown, especially for iPad users whose stands are almost guaranteed to be designed strictly for a horizontal orientation.

Update: Serious Problem
The app was perfect for some offline reading but since the last update that ad tries to load regardless of whether there is an internet connection or not when the app is loaded and intermittently during reading. Not only does the latter break the reading experience but worse yet it makes the app entirely useless without an active internet connection and I am not about to burn through data to maintain a hotspot for an ad. Especially one like that.

### 3/5 — Falls short

*2016-08-21, version 5.6*

First and foremost, if an app is going to be called the "Sherlock Holmes Collection", it should include ALL of the Holmes stories. There were 60 in all (including the novels). Secondly, when changing the size of the text, the remainder should spill to the next page, NOT force the reader to scroll THEN turn the page. That's just annoying.
Besides these glaring deficiencies, it not a bad app. Keep working on it, please. Thanks

### 3/5 — Sherlock Holmes

*2012-02-26, version 4.2*

Great...but as others have mentioned, it needs a bookmark function, landscape mode and it would be nice to have automatic scroll. When you turn the pages, sometimes you can't read the beginning of the page and have to pull the page down to read the first line. Good start and look forward to the updates!

### 3/5 — Nearly Perfect

*2012-01-11, version 4.2*

My only complaints are 1) There is no bookmark which your app stated it has and 2) a landscape reading mode would be wonderful. At the very least I'd appreciate the bookmark. Scrolling and hunting through the stories grows old really quickly. 5 Stars when it changes...

### 3/5 — 2 problems

*2011-12-31, version 4.2*

I love reading the stories but 2 things keep it from getting more stars: 1. Can't turn and read in landscape position; 2. Can't bookmark where you stopped reading. Fix these, and it will be a better app

### 3/5 — Huh?

*2010-09-27, version 0*

As a rabid Sherlockian, the idea of having the Canon with me where ever I go is wonderful! So why are there only 48 of the 56 short stories here? It looks like The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes is missing. Some of my favorite stories are there and I miss not being able to read them.

This is a wonderful app, but until all the stories are there, I can't give it a rating any higher than this. Sorry.

### 4/5 — It’s fantastic

*2018-11-04, version 10.0*

The only problem I have with it is the background since I don’t really know what it is. However this is probably ignorance on my part and it’s just aesthetic. The app is great I’m so glad I have it.

### 4/5 — Great, but still not perfect...

*2017-09-20, version 10.0*

Thank you! The latest update corrected my problem opening the Hound of the Baskervilles, and the page breaks are much more even. As a previous review mentions, the collection is incomplete, but what is present now works as it should. I look forward to the addition of the Casebook.

### 4/5 — The Sherlock Holmes Collection

*2017-01-10, version 5.6*

The Sherlock Holmes Collection is a well made application that allows users to easily access many of Conan Doyle's great works. Users can easily select a story to read from the main page and after making a selection you can modify how the text to how it appears on screen. My only issue with the app is the design leaves a lot to be desired. The borders are a bit dreary with no touch of elegance or sophistication which is something that should accompany an application such as this. With that said the app is well worth a download especially for those who love to return again and again to these great detective yarns.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — sherlock holmes book

*2021-04-26, version 10.0*

good books to read when on the plan or just in joying the times inside or outdoors

### 5/5 — Excellent book app

*2020-04-29, version 10.0*

Love the formatting of the book pages. Gives the feel of reading an actual book. No typos either. The chapters are smooth- flowing.

### 5/5 — A smashing app

*2017-03-01, version 5.6*

Just wanted to say that this app is quite the dog's bollocks, giving me a way to take the sherlock stories wherever i may be. The stories themselves are timeless, and the app itself is simple, but well designed. Overall i am chuffed to bits with it, and you will be to. Good day.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2017-01-18, version 5.6*

Thank you to the developer of this app . User friendly interface , almost the whole collection , auto bookmarking , font adjustment , u can't ask for more . Can we have an Agatha Christie collection please?

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2016-06-02, version 5.6*

Loved the app. It's a convenient way to read the stories and when they're on an iPhone I could look up the words I didn't understand by highlighting and using the define option. I love this app.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2015-12-19, version 5.6*

The collection of work is complete, it's easy to navigate, and easy to read. You have a choice of scroll modes, either continuous, or page by page, depending on your preference. There are a few very minor typos in the collection, but not enough to seriously mar the work. There are some great little known stories among the collection, and you will likely be delighted with the opportunity to read the more obscure short stories. It is a great value, and I highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Thank you,

*2015-09-27, version 5.6*

I've loved Sir Conan Doyle works since I was a child. the deductive reasoning he used in creating Sherlock Holmes, has influenced my major in college (mathematics, and yes I know Moriarty, was the mathematician). Thank you for making it possible for me to revisit my favorite stories anywhere.

### 5/5 — I like this App

*2014-02-27, version 5.6*

Easy to read great stories. Very nice aesthetics. I'm completely satisfied and would have paid for this app. I recommend it to all.

### 5/5 — Best Sherlock Holmes compilation app by far!!

*2014-01-07, version 5.1*

This app has so many of the Sherlock Holmes stories in the most readable format. Not too flashy that it'll distract you from the pages and still quick and crisp load of the next page. In my opinion this app is definitely worth it if you want to read the Sherlock Holmes stories on your tablet, i-phone pod tablet are whatever.
Great app!

### 5/5 — Amazing, but..

*2013-12-21, version 5.1*

In the His Last Bow section, the books are not in the correct order. It's supposed to be: The Cardboard Box, The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge, The Bruce-Partington Plans, The Devil's Foot, The Red Circle, Lady Frances Carfax, The Dying Detective, and then His Last Bow. I was also wondering if you're going to add The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes? It's the final set with 12 short stories.
