## What is Shide?

In every era's record, most of us are the "others" — mentioned in passing, with no name, no story.

Now the songs, shows, books, games, and the moments large and small of China since 1980 become one shared cultural map. Wander through it, and in some lyric, in some old news from a certain year, you catch the shadow of your own passing; jot a line as you go, and by year's end it becomes a Chinese-English book, kept only on your own phone — no account, nothing uploaded.

The map unfolds year by year, from 1980 to today, in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese. Each day, On This Day looks back at what happened on this date in years past; at each year's close, a keepsake stays with you.

The lines you jot are typeset into an A4 book on your device, offline — one-tap AI bookmaking is part of the Ensō membership. Your years remain on your own phone, never backed up to any cloud.

Beyond the app, the Shide original world is growing: Shen Shi's song "Chang Feng" is now on Spotify, and the Shiguang channel is revisiting the old shows, episode by episode.

Filed among the "others," we roam the wide world — and still we lift our heads from the dust and carry the light forward.
