Shield Basic - British Columbia is intended for Police Officers, Conservation Officers, Highway Enforcement Officers and law enforcement students but can also be used as a reference for lawyers, legal assistants and the general public. This is an all-in-one phone application that will provide up to date legislation and information, and will also function when tower or internet access is not available. The database is downloaded onto the phone and when an update is available, such as when set fines are changed or new legislation is enacted, the database will be updated automatically. Whilst some do an ok job they are particular to individual acts, mainly Criminal Code or MVA. I tried the free two week trial and was hooked, using it every day. It has everything a patrol officer needs with a quick search function for relevant sections, useful guides and ability to store favourites. I've contacted the developer a couple of times who is quick to respond and happy to take onboard requests. This app is so popular in Ontario that is spread like a wildfire!!! Listen... Yes it costs money, but the creator of this app knows what he's doing! The app will be updated on a regular basis at no costs. You can even create a contact list totally separate from your phone contact list; you can create your favorite list of offences; amd more!!!! Folks, just try it and see for yourselves. I saved money since I started using it. You probably will too! And no I'm not the creator of this app, but I wish I had thought of this myself!!!
