Initially it was a good and entertaining game for many months. Then recently (mid 2024) it seemed someone else was put in charge as it wasn’t making enough money and the downhill slide started. First “skips” on long winded battles were taken out unless you are a high level VIP (needing spend to reach), then various daily challenges were made harder and harder (not just from levelling - one day you could complete a whole battle series fairly easily, then after update even the first battle in a series of 10 or 20 you couldn’t win). Rewards started being changed and reduced. Bugs started appearing from the frequent updates to add more monetisation and make the game harder and harder and to slow down progress. Then the daily gold coins used to buy items or progress characters or even perform certain daily quest/activities in game, although limited before, suddenly stopped, completely. New levels and content also slowed down being added and it may be, like many games, the difficulty and cost was ramped up as people were burning through content too quickly which was costing the developer too much to create. So as a free play game it was originally good, especially if you liked the anime, but now increasingly heading towards a grindfest heavily-monetised game, sadly. ### 4/5 — Daily gold/Gold reward *2024-09-14* Can we please get the daily gold back, as well as the gold for completing tasks, gems can’t buy rising star recruit scrolls!!!!! ### 3/5 — Great Game *2024-08-15* I love the anime and this game is a great amount of fun. However, the sweep system needs to be fixed. 10 sweeps for a whole day? That is not enough. It makes the grind unbearable. Especially because there is no restart level feature. Just exit level. So grinding for the massive amount of materials to just awaken a character is just to much. Again the game is fun outside of that. I would jut ask this be fixed with either more sweeps or no sweep limit and add a restart level feature. ### 4/5 — Complaint about recent update! *2024-08-14* I only have two problems so far with the recent update. Rising Stars recruit and the Skipping function is now restricted to VIP members!!! I find this unacceptable and unfair! The other is the lack of VIP missions. If we have to go through this, then make it easier! It was fun and farmable. Now with the updates it only pay 2 win. You now need to be vip 13 to access good character, to skip it was vip 3-4 now it’s vip 13 or you could buy a bunch of skip tickets… game has become whack with the heavy spenders and will make the game flop because of that. Barely any fun anymore… devs definitely took a wrong turn on these last updates. ### 1/5 — Shield Hero deserves better games *2024-08-29* Perhaps it’s me, but I’ve grown tired of these money-harvesting games that autobattle into infinity and offer very low strategic challenge outside of level up and hit start. I currently play as a fan of Shield Hero, but the recent updates have proven that this game is all about making money. Now I don’t expect every new mobile game to be a Genshin, Wuthering Waves, Star Rail…. But I’ve played games that had similar Gatcha content that made it far more enjoyable: age of Ashtaria (rip), Valkyrie Crusade (rip), even Monster Super League offers more despite their ridiculous x50 battle. This game is lazy, basic, and seriously misunderstands the potential in the IP that they are working with. Here’s an idea: borrowing an idea from an old PS2 game called Okage- you set the game up so that Naofumi is not removable from your party. The battle commences but the twist is that should HE die at any time during battle the battle automatically ends even if your remaining party still has life. It’s a RPG strategy I haven’t seen used since. Maybe it has, and I’m not aware, but I loved how it changed how you strategized your moves. ### 1/5 — Ingiocabile! *2024-08-14* Con il nuovo aggiornamento è obbligatorio raggiungere il livello VIP 13 e per farlo bisogna pagare soldi veri! Rimettete tutto come prima o mi obbligate a cancellare il gioco. ### 1/5 — Pay to win update *2024-08-14* Apparently with the new maintenance you need Vip 13 just to skip auto battle that used to be free after 5 sec of waiting. Some old 4 star characters suddenly upgrading to a 5 star characters. I’ve only had it crash a couple times after many hours, which I would say is really good. It’s somewhat similar to a game like Evertale where you collect cards and develop them in many ways, very different and much deeper in most other ways. It has so many options! I’m still trying to figure everything out - and that’s a good thing! They give you a great starter package right at the go. So you can grow and level powerful characters easily with lots of options. I haven’t run into any pay walls yet or stupid ads which is refreshing. It is based off the Anime, but for the main story arc you really can’t change the past like they claim. You're pretty much following the story line. But it does seem like a pretty involved story so far. I’m really enjoying it so far.
