## What is Shimau?

Things to keep, things to do — one home for your everyday.

Shimau is one place for the scattered stuff of daily life: notes, to-dos, links, and photos. Videos from social media, half-read articles, screenshots, passing thoughts — just toss them in. No folders. No tagging. No filing.

◆ Zero-effort saving
Pick "Shimau" in the share menu — you don't even need to open the app. For quick thoughts, tap the center "+". Shimau tells links from notes automatically as you type.

◆ AI understands what you saved
Links and screenshots get automatic summaries and tags. Screenshots become searchable through on-device text recognition. Notes you write yourself are never sent to AI.

◆ Find things the way you remember them
"That ramen video from last week" — search in your own words and it shows up.

◆ To-dos live on sticky notes
Stick a note on a box, peel it off when it's done. The small satisfaction of an empty box keeps you going. Checklist notes open in a focused to-do mode.

◆ A one-line daily journal
Once a day, log your mood and a single line — and look back with a little bear at your side. History, calendar, and stats grow the longer you keep going.

◆ Make it your own
Choose a theme — Cozy or Lovely Pink, plus Calm Blue and Mono with Pro — and dress up box covers with theme art, photos, or colors and emoji.

◆ Only deadlines, gently
When a saved booking or coupon has a date, Shimau offers a reminder. Choose how it speaks up: quiet, standard, or strong. No other notifications, ever.

If you were on 3.0, here is what we fixed.

・After updating the app, photos and PDFs sometimes did not sync to iCloud, and were missing from backups too. We are sorry: you could have believed you had a backup when you did not
・A photo set as a box cover could disappear after updating the app
・On iPad, "Back up everything" and "Export data" sometimes did nothing when tapped
・Syncing could stay unfinished, or take a very long time. Dozens of items now finish in seconds
・Settings now has "Sync everything again", for when something has not reached your other devices
・In mainland China, prices sometimes did not load and Pro could not be purchased. We are sorry

From your reports and requests

・Press and hold an item in the list to put it in a box. Until now you had to open it first. Thank you for asking
・Fixed the Chinese share sheet instructions, which named something that was not there. Sorry to anyone who gave up looking for it
・Fixed photos and PDFs added from the share sheet sometimes becoming unopenable after an app update
・Photos are now brought in at the same quality whichever way you add them
・Fixed bilibili links being saved as two items, and their summaries not appearing

Boxes look tidier too.

・More cover artwork, on background colours chosen to sit behind what is on them rather than compete with it
・A colour you pick yourself now stays put when you change theme

Link titles now show correctly.

・Fixed a bug where a YouTube link's title would appear correctly at first, then change to "YouTube" with the summary replaced by the service's own blurb. Thank you for reporting it
・While a title is being fetched, "Loading…" now appears. Previously a fragment of the URL such as "youtube.com/watch" was shown as the title until loading finished
・When a title cannot be found at all, the site name is shown instead of a URL fragment
・A title that has already loaded correctly is no longer replaced by a shorter name later on
・Titles and thumbnails now work for TikTok, RedNote, Bilibili, Douyin and more
・RedNote videos, Bilibili, Douyin, Niconico and Vimeo are now treated as videos
・Source names now follow your language
・Content that cannot be summarised no longer keeps loading forever, saving battery and data
・Retries after a failed load no longer continue indefinitely. You can still retry manually from the detail screen
・Fixed TikTok share links briefly showing "TikTok - Make Your Day" as the title
・Notices about new versions now arrive sooner
