## What is SHINNEN?

SHINNEN is an experimental app that asks a simple question: can directed human thought influence randomness?

Quiet your mind. Hold a single intention. Then measure.

MEASUREMENT MODES
QUICK (5s) - A short session against cryptographic randomness. Single-phase, no baseline. Ideal for daily practice.
NORMAL (20s) - A two-phase session with a baseline period, for a more careful reading.
HARD (48s) - Uses physical sensor noise from the accelerometer and gyroscope as the random source, rather than an algorithm. Requires Airplane Mode ON, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth OFF, and the charger unplugged. The most rigorous experimental design in the app.

HOW IT IS ANALYZED
Every session is evaluated with NIST-style statistical tests. Deviation from expected randomness is expressed as a score, so results are comparable across sessions and across people.

WHAT YOU GET
The Record - a personal history of every measurement
The Pilgrimage - a global leaderboard of accumulated results
The Devoted - those who walk the path most consistently
Gallery - commemorative cards awarded at milestones
Measurement Guide - how to prepare, and what the numbers mean

HARD MODE UNLOCK
A one-time purchase that unlocks Hard mode, the 48-second sensor-noise measurement. It also removes ads across the app. Quick and Normal modes remain free.

A NOTE ON WHAT THIS IS
SHINNEN makes no claim that thought influences matter. It is an instrument, not a verdict. What it offers is a disciplined way to look: repeatable measurement, honest statistics, and a record of what you find.

Quiet the mind. Direct your thought. Measure.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-17

Corrections to the certificate and to the iPad layout.

A Hard measurement reported as NOT DETECTED could still show a special inscription on its certificate. It no longer does. An inscription belongs only to a measurement in which intention was observed.

On iPad, the card in the gallery detail view sat too near the top of the screen. It now rests at the center.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-02

Commemorative cards are now kept with your account.

If you have signed in with Apple or Google, the cards in your gallery return after a reinstall or a move to a new device. Cards inscribed while signed out remain on this device only.

Your practice chronicle stays on the device, as before. The path you walked remains with the device; only what is inscribed is carried onward.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-28

No release notes.
