## What is ShinyPokes?

ShinyPokes is an unofficial fan made tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokemon Company. Pokemon and Pokemon character names are their trademarks. The app contains no assets from any Pokemon game.

ShinyPokes is a shiny hunting tracker. It counts your encounters, keeps your timers honest, logs every shiny you find and gives you one place to look back on all of them. Free, no ads, made by one person who hunts shinies too.

WHAT IT DOES

Hunt counter. Pick the Pokemon, the game and the method, and the app checks the combination is actually possible before you start. Count with a tap, watch the timer, and see your odds update as you go. Run up to four hunts at once in multi hunt. Put a hunt on hold and pick it up later.

Shiny found. When it happens, log the catch with the ball, the gender, marks and a nickname. The hunt moves to your collection and your Shiny Dex fills in.

Collection. Every shiny you have caught, with the game, the encounters and the time it took. Edit them, log past catches you found before the app, import a list, and share a card for each one.

Shiny Dex. All 1025 Pokemon, with the ones you own lit up. Dex and Living Dex views.

Locations. Where a Pokemon shows up in each game, and where the items are.

Gen 1 shiny check. Enter the stats from a Generation 1 catch and see whether it will be shiny when it comes forward.

Hunter levels. Encounters give a little XP, shinies give a lot. Your level shows as a border around your avatar. Turn it off if you would rather not.

Community. A feed of recent finds, live hunts happening right now, leaderboards, community stats and a chat with channels for hunting, trades and showing off. Community events like the Bank Run, where you fill a bingo card of shinies before the old transfer service closes.

Notifications. A mention in chat or a reply to your message reaches your phone.

Same account everywhere. Sign in with Apple, Google, Discord or an emailed link. Everything you track in the app is on shinypokes.com too, and the other way round.

### 5/5 — An asset for Shiny Hunters

*2026-09-17*

I was recommended this app by a fellow shiny hunter and it has changed the game for me.

I can neatly store all of my hunts in one spot. Keeping track of all my metrics on an app rather than my phone’s note app and some loose paper is a game changer!

I highly recommend this app for shiny hunters of all levels!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the app and that is helpful.

If you ever have any suggestions or need any help, feel free to always reach out!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.5 — 2026-10-07

Where your shiny was caught, and two new Tap anywhere settings.

NEW

Caught at. When you save a shiny or edit a catch, you can now say where it was caught. Pick from the game's routes and areas, with the places your Pokemon is found listed first, or type a place yourself for gifts, legendaries and events. Route hunts fill it in for you. Turn on "Where it was caught" in your collection's card fields to see it on each card.

Two Tap anywhere settings. In Settings, Preferences, Counting, with Tap anywhere chosen, you can make a tap on the number count instead of opening it for typing, and fold the hunt buttons above the counter behind one Hunt options button, so a stray tap never opens another page.

FIXED

Dates in Edit catch and Log past hunt no longer show a day early in some time zones.

Multi-hunt auto-counts keep their rhythm over long sessions.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-02

Tap anywhere to count, an auto-count for each multi-hunt window, and tidier settings.

NEW

Tap anywhere to count. In Settings, Preferences, Counting, choose Tap anywhere and the whole hunt screen becomes your counter: tap any empty part of it to add an encounter, with a short vibration. A small minus button stays for the tap that went too far, and everything else on the screen works as before. Vibrate when you count can also be turned on for the plus and minus buttons.

An auto-count for each multi-hunt window. Every window can now run its own auto-count, set up by hand or calibrated from five of your own encounters. Each one only counts while that window's timer is running.

IMPROVED

Settings are easier to read. Each tab now groups its settings into titled sections, with a line saying what each one covers.

FIXED

Tapping a hunt that is on hold now opens that hunt, instead of the one you were already on. Resuming a hunt from the on hold list takes you straight to it.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-09-23

A tidier collection page, and two fixes.

IMPROVED

The collection page is easier to find your way around. Everything that adds a shiny, whether a past hunt, a random shiny or an import, now sits behind one Add button. Search runs the full width. Sort, filters and card view share one bar: sort says its order in plain words, filters open in their own panel, and any filter that is on shows as a chip you can tap to remove.

Cards in the same row are now the same height, and a big evolution family like Eevee's wraps neatly inside its card instead of spilling out of it.

FIXED

After saving a shiny, the "Saved to collection" page could disappear, or show a different hunt's Pokemon, if you had more than one hunt going or were in multi-hunt. It now always shows the shiny you just saved.

Editing or starring a catch no longer hides its phase chain on the collection card.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-09-23

Alpha Pokemon, and a handful of fixes.

NEW

Alpha hunts. In Legends: Arceus and Legends: Z-A you can now hunt for a shiny Alpha. Tick "Hunting the Alpha" when you start a hunt. When a shiny turns up, the app asks whether it was the Alpha. If it was not, that shiny still goes to your collection as a phase, and the counter starts again while the hunt keeps going. The option only appears for species that can actually be an Alpha in that game.

Alpha catches carry the Alpha name, a crest and a red glow on your collection, profile, the feed, Live Hunts, history and the home screen. You can also mark a catch as an Alpha when you log a past shiny or edit an existing one. Alphas still count as their species in your Shiny Dex.

Phase chain. Collection cards can show the shinies you found on the way to each catch, in order, ending with the one you were after. Turn it on from the fields you show on your collection.

FIXED

Starting a hunt for a starter Pokemon no longer warns that it cannot be found in the wild in the games where it can: Legends: Arceus, The Indigo Disk and Legends: Z-A. Other games still warn as before.

The ranch shows on profiles again. It had stopped appearing for everyone.

Tapping a notification while the app was in the background could close it instead of opening it. It now opens where it should.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-19

Two fixes.

Sprites now follow the game you are hunting in, when you have that turned on under Settings, Preferences. The setting was saving, and then everything drew in the Gen 5 style anyway. A Crystal hunt looks like Crystal again. Let's Go, Sword, Shield, Legends: Arceus and Legends: Z-A never had sprites of their own and still use the Gen 5 ones.

A count typed straight over the counter saves again. It was reaching the screen but not the server, and the older number came back on the next sync. Pressing the counter was never affected.
